The Manchester United Thread

What are the idiot BT commentators saying that it's not a penalty. It was as clear of a handball as I can imagine.

The bloke didn't even see the ball. Hand was raised, probably to comb Fellaini's bush.

Did they change the rule so that defender can hand the ball when he has no chance of winning header?

Clear penalty and good that dean gave it .

The fella is trying to jump and doesn't even see the ball. No intent there at all. Clear penalty my pasty white *** but you take what you can get.

He didn't try to jump. He just blocked the shot with his hand. Excuses like "didn't see the ball" are pathetic. He is a defender and it's in the box, what is he doing not seeing the ball. He clearly and intentionally left his arm to block the shot.

There's a penalty like that awarded Sunday against Utd this thread would be going nuts.

But it what it is. You take it and move on.

Dude, where exactly in the rules does it say that you need to see the ball?

A defender has no business jumping in the box with his hands up when the cross is flying in. Its a stonewall penalty, he has only himself to blame.

How do you jump period without your arms out? Forget that incident. Just in general? It's natural for leverage.

Out and up a little bit for leverage, yes. Up over your head and spread like you're an eagle trying to blast off into the sky, no.

Handball doesn't need to be intentional and you don't need to see the ball for it to be worthy of a penalty. The first thing they look at is natural arm position. Otherwise you'd have every defender standing with their arms wide and then claiming "oh I didn't intend it, it just hit me out of nowheree".

Im guessing you will be saying Newcastle shouldnt have had a penalty and Fellani couldnt have had two yellows?

Its so easy to spot a Scouser in a United thread on the matchday :D

Lingard should have had yellow for scoring goal. United are not supposed to score 2 goals in a game and not in first half.

United fans with their rose tinted glasses be like

Vintage Rooney on the counter.

The annoying thing is.... Rooney turning up when it's virtually too late to compete for anything other than top 4, you need your key players performing from the start of the season.
