The fella is trying to jump and doesn't even see the ball. No intent there at all. Clear penalty my pasty white *** but you take what you can get.
He didn't try to jump. He just blocked the shot with his hand. Excuses like "didn't see the ball" are pathetic. He is a defender and it's in the box, what is he doing not seeing the ball. He clearly and intentionally left his arm to block the shot.

A defender has no business jumping in the box with his hands up when the cross is flying in. Its a stonewall penalty, he has only himself to blame.

Out and up a little bit for leverage, yes. Up over your head and spread like you're an eagle trying to blast off into the sky, no.
Handball doesn't need to be intentional and you don't need to see the ball for it to be worthy of a penalty. The first thing they look at is natural arm position. Otherwise you'd have every defender standing with their arms wide and then claiming "oh I didn't intend it, it just hit me out of nowheree".
Doesn't matter. Hand was in unnatural position when it hit it. Clear pen.
Fellaini should have had 2 yellows? lol.

The annoying thing is.... Rooney turning up when it's virtually too late to compete for anything other than top 4, you need your key players performing from the start of the season.
