The Manchester United Thread

The fact is you did not try hard enough. Reputable sources all repeatedly claimed how hard City and Chelsea were trying to sign him. None did for United

How do you know we didn't try hard enough? How do you enough ManUtd were told NO at the first approach? Like ManUtd, Chelsea also didn't try hard enough because like ManUtd Chelsea also lost him to City.

Also why so much fuss about Pep, obviously he is the best manager but some of the reactions are just hilarious. It's not the end of the world, there is life outside Pep, Jose, Carlo and few other managers.

I have no idea what the first part even means. Chelsea tried hard and gave him a blank cheque 3 times ever since he left Barcelona. Read Balague's book on Pep. Meanwhile not a word of United attempting to get him to that extent

No assumptions. City started to lay the foundational work very early. United did not bother for whatever reason. Its very possible that they felt Pep would come running once they came calling with all their history and tradition. But once they actually attempted to get him this season when they knew LVG had to go, they realized they had no chance. If they knew that from earlier, they wouldn't have even attempted contacting him this season

This may not necessarily be Woody's fault although he as CEO has to take the blame. Lack of foresight and poor planning at the executive level at United. Thats why the Petroboys at City are catching up incredibly fast

Neither, turns out United asked early on, and he wasnt going yet. And then when the timing was right for a new manager, City had it sewn up. City have been going for 3years, hiring Soriano and co specially for him

United did try. They went for him, then Klopp to succeed Ferguson, they turned down Mourinho and then went with Moyes.

And people here were moaning about Otamendi (not sure whether I did).

Its Pelle instance on a high line, he thinks his best player defines the way that role should be played. Bony has to play like Aguero, and all cb's should be able to do what Kompany does. He won't let a team play a different line, hes tactically stubborn as ****.

Sterling.. deary me.. definition of pace and no end product. Liverpool getting £50m for him must be one of the greatest piece of business in the modern game.

Leicester city will win the premier league

Whoa hold the horses there lol.

As much as I'd love to see Leicester win the title because they deserve it imo there's still 13 games to go after today and absolutely anything can happen including the dreaded injuries. But I'm convinced they can make Champions League.

And I never ever saw this coming pre-season

No cup, no euro games. It is all them to take. 6 points should be enough and city aint good without KDB.

Leicester games:
Gameweek 26 Arsenal (A)
Gameweek 27 Norwich (H)
Gameweek 28 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 29 Watford (A)
Gameweek 30 Newcastle (H)
Gameweek 31 Crystal Palace (A)
Gameweek 32 Southampton (H)
Gameweek 33 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 34 West Ham (H)
Gameweek 35 Swansea (H)
Gameweek 37 Everton (H)
Gameweek 38 Chelsea (A)

Guaranteed win against us that's for sure unless our defending improves lol

Because reputable sources such as Ballague have gone on record stating that Chelsea and City were trying very hard for him. The media chatter has always been how Ambramovich has been such a huge fan of Pep from the start as well. Also Mike confirmed that United were refused at the first approach

If you are only willing to accept football-related information from someone who has primary knowledge then you might as well not even be on this forum. Everything we discusss is the information we get from journalists and other media outlets. None of us knows anything for sure. We just discusss with whats reported. For all I know, United could have gone crazy for Pep and offered him the keys to the city but if you can find one reputable journalist who wrote that then you are amazing. The fact is that its been reported for 4-5 years now by nearly everyone that Chelsea tried extremely hard to get Pep and City did as well. Very little was said about United chasing him to that extent.

Why is there so much fuss? Because he would have been the perfect fit at Old Trafford. Losing him to City should be seen as a failure at the executive level. And Woodward as CEO has to shoulder blame even if it was not 100% his fault. Now you are forced to get off your moral high horse and hire Mourinho whom you guys turnes your nose up at earlier. Its funny how morals and principles flew out the door when the club started to lose

you seem to have completely misunderstood my point. Both times the timing was not in United favour. They only approached him heavily the first time, when he was taking a year off but going to Bayern. United couldn't wait the year. It's literally nothing to do with thinking he'd just come because it was United, you've got that totally wrong. The second time they showed interested, was very recently to confirm their own long held suspicions he was already looking at a contract from city

And my point is that during his Bayern stint, they seem to have taken their eye off the ball and let City snag him instead of pursuing him and doing everything possible to ensure his next destination was United which is what City did. He is a perfect fit for the way United and their fans want the club to be run so it is definitely a failure to have let City get him
