The Manchester United Thread

When you're in a situation like this not getting the business done is very costly though, if you miss out on top 4 you can see all these reasons being pointed to as part of the problem. (Not as big as the LVG problem but still significant).

Which goes back to the summer and lack of CB/striker as well, but we shouldn't get into this again, as well all know this by now.

What exactly is he supposed to do? He couldnt have forseen injuries to every single one of our full backs. Weird to even remotely blame him for that

Exactly. You're left playing 4th line of backups at this point, nobody can prepare for that much of bad luck.

I didn't say I did blame LVG solely for this, did I? I blame him for the way we play on the pitch but I never pointed him out as the single reason for this fullback problem in my post.

But lets be honest, we've only scored 2 more goals than a side like Sunderland this season and Rooney was utter **** up until January. We only had him/Martial/Wilson going into a 4 competition season, that was a massive mistake. We have lacked goals all season. Rooney has come back on the boil a bit since January which has helped but ultimately still isn't enough.

Imagine what happens if Bojack Crossman gets injured. You'd be left playing reserve players of u21 team. Ridiculous.

Sunderland deserve to win this game though, officiating has been bad but they should of had a penalty also. Rooney's hands were in unnatural position inside the box when the ball struck them. Been much better than us this half, had plenty of chances in comparison to us.

Memphis is a joke. All he does is cut to his right, telegraph the shot so badly I could block it from Australia, and lose the ball.

******* seriously.

It's a horrible game of ball.
I knew I should have gone to the gym :S

I can't stand seeing him in the lineup.
I just don't rate the guy at all.

**** sake Memphis, hit it like you ****** mean it, could of scored there. This guy's attitude annoys me every time I see him.

Smalling's gone back to being distinctly average the longer this years gone on from his great start.

I don't think that was on Smalling. The right back, whatever his name is, should've blocked the run. He just stands there like a lemon and Smalling tries to fix it but he's too far.

That's what happens when you're forced to play backup of a backup of a backup of a backup defenders.

LVG can't survive the season surely.

Btw, back on the fullback topic. Do you think Mourinho would of gone into a season happy with having Valencia and Young as first team backups for a position they are not even specialised in? Just behind Darmian and Shaw. Neither Valencia or Young are even fullbacks anyway. I know what you're saying we have been unlucky with injuries in a way, but a manager like Mourinho would never of gone into a season considering players like Young and Valencia as adequate fullbacks. They are wingers and makeshift fullbacks at best.

As LVG has admitted, he prefers smaller tight-knit squads because he finds it hard to motivate a bigger squad of players, understandable I suppose but in the modern game it just won't work.

He will survive... because our board only cares about money and quite frankly there is nothing that will be achieved by sacking him now. It will only expose the reason why they delayed it so long if they sacked him now, of course they won't, it should of been done after the Norwich game when the season was still salvageable.
