This is very much less about the players and more about LVG. He's a dead duck and everyone knows it. It's like Chelsea with Jose, everyone is going through the motions till it changes. Except Woodward can't see it.
Funny thing is, City have been ***** this season as well and we're still nowhere near them. Speaks volumes.

The whole leagues been *****. No better chance for either to be in the top 4. No excuse at all that neither will be.
I genuinely feel bad for Van Gaal, poor guy has some of the worst luck with injuries I have ever seen in football. And he's done some excellent work too. Turning Smalling into one of the best CBs in the league, promoting a lot of youth, making a lot of sensible transfers.
But this is just too much, the situation needs a shake up. The problem is, it could make things even worse. The fixture congestion is massive and there's not enough time to bring new manager from the outside. Giggs has boots on the ground, but you can't throw an unexperienced rookie to sail through the storm. It's a no-win situation.
I've been already saying in December, that they either need to fire LVG quick, or give him vote of confidence with massive investment in the January window. They've done neither, and now the whole thing is falling apart. I'm not even blaming Van Gaal at this point, I'm blaming the board, their indecision put the club into this.

I don't know what you're talking about. Man Utd have a good squad. Just the way LVG has us playing + injuries.
Good 13-14, decent beyond that.
Needs 3-4 for more players, at least one of whom needs to be unstoppable, which could well be Martial in truth
I still think our midfield needs work, but then again, it could be the LVG mist looming over it. At the moment it just doesn't seem to be offering much of anything. Schneiderlin has gone from one of the best midfielders in the league last season to being virtually totally anonymous in this one.
Carrick is done. Schweinsteiger is pretty much done. Herrera... I don't even know anymore. He is a decent player but I don't think much more.
I won't even mention Fellaini.....

Not going to debate that as it's all about opinion so it just goes round in circles.
But IMO you've little better a squad than what we currently have. Weak in a lot of areas. Filled out with mediocre to good players you've paid a heck of a lot for with a few genuinely real good ones. And the answer you just gave on top of that is so reminiscent of how most L'pool fans where back the early years the Premier League as we continued to delude ourselves that we were Liverpool and just this injury or that player away from being returned to where we should be. You're a LONG way short of that.

We're both in a mess with a BIG job to be done to restore ourselves to be consistently challenging for the summit. That just sadly is what it is.
Er, no, no and definitely not. What are you on about? Carrick is still vital to use when he players, Bastian too, when he's actually allowed to get forwards and Herrera is brilliant, and the fact that he isn't playing is madness. I know you're in one of your moods, but that's actually so wrong.

Yeah....United are weak in CF, depending on your view of Rooney, and RW because Lingard is still quite inconsistent. What it needs is some more quality depth, and most of all, some motivation.

In what ways are these players "done"? And can you really expect too much from Herrera with a manager that under-rotates and plays him in uncomfortable positions?
What? Schweinsteiger and Carrick are almost certainly done as players. The former is injury plagued and not near the same level of player he once was. The latter is 34, has had very little impact this season, when he has actually played, due to injuries. Why are they vital? Vital to what? A midfield that gets exposed most games?

When you say Van Gaal surely can't survive the year ..... You wanting Mourinho (presume he is the guy) in now? Or just a 'nothing to lose' with an interim the short term?
Pathetic.
First off, that Will Keane change should have happened earlier, not wait til they score. Why he moved Mata into midfield though instead of Rooney I don't know, and the fact Keane spent more time on the right in the few minutes he was on is ridiculous.
Martial's finish was nice, but other than that he didn't do much. Rooney was ok in the first half, sloppy as **** in the second. Mata & Morgan were poor. Smalling needs to do better at attacking corners, & he completely abandoned Kone for their winner. Lingard and Carrick were completely awful. I've seen Memphis being criticised yet he played better than most of his teammates today, so the fans attacking him can **** off.
As for Louis, I like the guy. I didn't want his career to end with him being sacked, but missing out on the top 4 is unacceptable and right now it looks like we will. He's got to go asap.

United need an understudy/competitor to Darmain, but slightly different (more attacking)
Aggressive attacking right winger, ideally two footed.
Given Rooney is 31 this year, a 2nd striker.
