The Manchester United Thread

Some funny German fella' I kind of like would disagree on the intensity between the Bundesliga and Premiership. In the main down to the extra games here, competitive nature and no mid-season break.

He's also known for playing the crowd well. Game for game, Bundesliga matches and beats us for intensity. Over the season we need to rotate more, but we have typically bigger squads.

Mike has a point, you guys are trying to debate two different things. PL has more intensive season, but BL has more intensive games.

Exactly. Players wont have a problem game by game coming in, but they might not be able to play 55 games at full tilt.

You can disagree with him but that's a lame way to flippantly dismiss the counter view.

So much for his rep for being honest on what he feels. Shrugs.

Unlike him I've never been involved in either league so I wouldn't know. But I do know the demands are increased with the extra games and no break here which is a big difference however many players you have to pick from.

Klopp is very good at playing the crowd. You think he gets the best from his players just by being honest? Give Klopp a bit more credit for his intelligence. The stats actually show that game by game we are no longer the most intense league.

Just don't see that holding true. Irrespective of other leagues, more or less every team goes full pelt for 90 minutes all season long here. The quality isn't that high, particularly defensively. which invariably leads to great excitement. But there's very rarely easy matches for anyone over the course of a season.

I was just about to get into this but you have already beaten me to it, people should give soccernomics a read it dispels a few of these myths more so than me posting here would. Its backed up by some of the biggest statistical analysis projects too.

honestly scouse you should give soccernomics a read, tbf mike might be able to recommend a more recent book but its great at dispelling this myth created by sky.

Neither of us come from the Sky generation mate. They're the very last people I'd listen to on anything.

Indeed. As Public Enemy said " Don't believe the hype"

Just watch some BL games, it's visible to the naked eye, don't even need any stats.

Back when England was tormenting our NT in WC/Euro quals throughout the 90s, I was always scared shitless before these games, because you've played like on fast forward. It seemed that all your players have 4 lungs. The 96's team was ******* terrifying, they were running like on cocaine and had technical ability to support it too.

And we had really solid team back then. We played very close games vs France in the WC 98 quals, we could fight Italy, we could fight the Dutch, but England would always run us off the pitch bleeding.

But now? We could go toe to toe and you wouldn't see who's more physically fit. The world has caught up long ago, and the intensity of Premier League is just an outdated meme.

I heard demichelis is planning on retiring at the end of the season

How hilarious would that be! Rashford put his *** to retirement

He's been saying that for 2 years, he'll see out here then play a final season back in argentina.

This post might look completely out of blue as im not arsed to quote the relevant post.

Mighty Liverpool can sign class players if they are not in CL but poor ManUtd should be in CL to sign any decent player. Atleast thats what i read in the combination of 2 threads.

Not sure whether they/someone are trolls or just retarded not to see the contradiction.

Also zzeezzy, saying you want Berta as he is sporting director and talk as if woodward is clueless on football, Berta was also former banker. He wasn't a "football man" either.

Yeh I heard this, but still, doesn't change the fact that Atletico are a well run football club and do a lot of good transfer business. Woodward is a good commercial guy but he's in the wrong job, his lack of know how in this role I think does have an effect on some of our deals.

Still if Mourinho wants to bring him in, have faith that he think Berta can do a better job than Woodward in this field.

Yes I find it rather odd as well, I mean over ln the looney thread they are talking about players of the ilk of Gotze, without champions league. I mean unless he is totally in love with Klopp (which I admit is a possibility) I could never see him leaving Bayern to then join a club in Europa League.

Ansewred your own point mate as regards that one. His former manager.

I know, but still the point stands, you surely must realise you are not going to be tempting to players if you are outside of Champions League?

I mean you may attract the odd German who loves Klopp, like Gotze, which would be a massive coup given the circumstances, but still.
