The Manchester United Thread

Calm down.

No we shouldn't have signed him before Napoli. I'm glad we didn't. Yes, he isn't that good. He is good striker, any striker who scores 30 goals is good enough but his game is very limited. If you want ManUtd to spend so much money on a limited player then fine. For me he is not worth the money. Few weeks in and every one would be crying on how limited his game is.

Ibra wants 600K per week, if you believe that then you will believe anything that is reported. Also Higuain will be paid more than 200K per week and on top of that we have to pay 60 plus Million to sign him.

Ibra is better in every possible way and it's not even a contest.

Who said I believed it? I said "reported". But considering we do not have to pay for him, it would make sense for him to ask for an inflated wage on a short deal. If we dont pay that, and he's only arsed about his wage, he'll be on the first plane to China.

Of course Higuain would be paid £200k or more. Thats the going rate now at a top club for the best players. IF we signed Ibrahimovic and IF he is paid the REPORTED £600k a week, thats £21m a year (200k short) difference in wages between Higuain on £200k and Ibrahimovic on £600k. So on a 2 year contract for Ibrahimovic, the difference in wages would be the equivalent of paying £42m for him.

So yes, Id rather buy Higuain for £60m and pay him £200k a week on a 5 year deal, than get Ibrahimovic for free and pay him £600k for 2 years (equivalent of buying him for £42m and paying him £200k a week). Higuain works out £12m a season in transfer fee over the 5 years. Ibrahimovic would be on a short deal and in effect would work out at £21m a year in a transfer fee (difference in wage).

All if's and buts and speculation but you can see my point.

Ibra or Higuian is not even close tbh. Yes both would want huge wages, but Napoli would rinse us easily upwards of 50-70m and he ain't worth that imo. And on just on footballing terms Ibra is miles ahead of Higuian add to that the huge merchandise and sponsorships he will bring to the club would make it a no brainer to me. And I'm not saying Higuian is **** but just not on Ibra level imo. Get him in for 2-3 years then we have the likes of Martial, Rashford, Wilson coming through developing in the meantime.

But you have still got the fact that Ibrahimovic is a dirty player and does many things to players off the ball. He wont get away with that in this country with the video panel and retrospective bans. By rights he should kow this and not do it. But this is Zlatan we're talking about lol.

Also about Higuain not having much to his game and whatever. What does that matter if LVG is going and Mourinho is coming in? Mourinho might want what he does in his striker. LVG wants something else. Wasn't Chelsea sniffing around Chicharito when Mourinho was in charge? He doesnt have a lot to his game apart from scoring goals. So it all depends on the plan Mourinho has and the style of play. If he's going 4-2-3-1 with wingers out wide putting balls in, Higuain would suit that. Im not saying Ibrahimovic doesnt, but comparing their games now is only relevent IF LVG stays.

We'll just have to wait and see.

All this if that 600K is believable, which it isn't and if Higuain demands only 200k and not more than that.

I would rather spend that much money on Lukaku who has similar goal scoring record in PL.

Higuain would be short term signing so is Ibra. So spending so much on transfer fee is waste of resources.

Also that much money can be used to sign Lukaku who would be long term signing.

Lukaku will be hitting the 30+ goal a season mark sooner than later. He's 22 and from what I read, always looking to improve his game. United would do very well to get him and blood him in as the main striker for years to come

I was only comparing Ibrahimovic and Higuain because they was the two players mentioned. Of course you would spend the money on Lukaku over Higuain. Thats a no brainer.

I think most will agree that we defo need a top STR no matter who it is. Also a starting CB to partner Smalling a top clas wide man and a CM or 2 minimum this Summer imo.

You know what would worry me about Higuaín is that he is a bottle job and the big moments, and that is something you do not want especially for that kind of money. Me and a few others have spoke about this after the last Copa America, and like Sunil says for that money may aswell get Lukaku or even bring Ronaldo back

Thing is Higuain wasn't like this at all. His overall game was very good when he was at Madrid but gradually his overall game regressed. Now he isn't close to the player he was. I remember how he made name for himself at Madrid when he competed with Raul.

Anyways now he is a poacher and good one but for the money he is not worth it. We can sign better player for longer term.

Sports Witness saying a deal is almost agreed with Renato Sanches just a few more specifics of the deal to be completed. Fee to be 60m euros which is short of his 80m euros release clause. A good part to be payed in instalments etc. Beating the likes of Bayern, Barca, Chelsea. If true which if previous reports are to be believed that he was close to signing are true then surely this could be Mou and Mendes working together, which would be massive imo for us and be very good for us getting top players in ahead of other big clubs especially Mendes clients. Also still going round that Berta will not renew and will join with Mou this summer. Just imagine a trio of Mou, Mendes, Berta all working together :P

Mendes does what is best for his clients. Not what is best for Mourinho.

And what then is Mourinho exactly to Mendes? Having multiple people at one club who you are the agent of gives you immense bargaining power.

"Oh you won't give my client that extra 50k he wants? That's okay,I guess I will take your best players with me when we go." Andif Mendes is as good as everyone thinks that thought will have crossed his mind at some point or another.

If the Renato Sanchez deal actually happens then goodbye herrera....

I think that will depend on LVG/Mourinho. If Jose comes it could well be Mata. Also its likely Carrick is leaving, Schweinsteiger is ageing, and god knows Jose's view on Blind and where he see's him playing next season, if at all. Its gonna be interesting either way.

doubt it. More like good bye Mata, Carrick, Powell, Fellaini from the CM possitions. I think Mou will love Herrera can play CM/AMC creative and scores goals and most important will work his socks off for the team!

Mou is a Mendes client. Think of all the extra cash he could make from us moving his top clients around add to that clauses/bonuses if his players do well and we win things. God he must be rubbing his hands and his ***** at the thought :)

Yes it does but it does not mean Mendes will funnel his players to United simply because Mourinho is there.

Apparently on red issue there saying season ticket prices for next season are at an all time low. And are struggling for new sales. Also saying the club plan to announce Mou as soon as the fa cup has finished for us either winning or going out in the semi to help boost sales again for season tickets. Don't know if true, but in not surprised about ticket sales being low.

He will if Jose wants them. Mendes does what's best fro his clients, you're absolutely right. But Jose is one of his biggest clients and he will do what he can to help him too, and that certainly includes funnelling players his way, providing the player is happy overall with the move.
