The Manchester United Thread

If you want a striker now that guarantees goals (as much of a guarantee as you'll get in football!) Then even for a season or 2, Ibra is perfect. Big name, scores and assists and is often a game changer. 2 seasons on high wages, but could be the quality up top you need to get back in champions league contention.

All the while United could be sorting the future players out

We've got a very talented youngster in Rashford. He could learn a lot from Zlatan

State of defending in England Ibrahimovic could have it even easier than in France.

But he's going back to Milan so look elsewhere!

He could easily clear 30 under Jose (assuming they both arrive) the way we defend in this country.

Get another forward on the right to compliment Martial and let them play off Zlatan

I know he gets a lot of stick as arrogant etc but if you want a character that will demand everyone else steps up then that's Zlatan. United could do with a big focal point now Rooney has regressed year after year. Zlatan would be near the top of any striker list I'd put together, regardless of his age and the bonus of no transfer fee

The only thing that really annoyed me about him while at Milan was being offside, he's so ****** good but watch him often and his offsides will wind even his biggest fans up haha

The club could do with some arrogance, we're meek as **** right now.

Lot to be said for that. Quality veteran pros to have in the dressing room to set the tone and be there for the younger players to turn to for advice. Shweinsteiger this year at yours for a recent example. Major reason i'm desperate for Kolo to get another year at L'pool.

Think i'd get longer odd on Leicester storming the league last year or Man United appointing the Management team of Rafa&Terry. :)

I think Balotelli is up for grabs....

Kolo has been immense for you. We've missed Bastian massively. (best games have easily contained him in a 4-3-3).

They create a spine.

De Gea
Smalling
Schweinsteiger
Zlatan.

Put your players around that spine, target 2 longer term replacements for the latter two.

whats your thoughts on Morata and Icardi ? Just trying to think of available STRs to replace Zlatan we could sign this summer. Also lacazette

Just seen a few more links with us and Manolas. What would people think to this for next season, I know we will likely sign a CM but for now.?

DDG
Darmian-Smalling-Manolas-Shaw
Schnierderlin-Schweinstiger
James-Rooney-Martial
Ibra. Or

I would bite your hands off for any of those three+ Zlatan, and shipping out Rooney

Agree. If Zlatan did come we could easy ship out Rooney. Zlatan would offer more goals and attacking intent and als replace the experience we would have if Rooney left. Not sure who I would choose to come in with Zlatan out of those 3. Forgot about Wilson also, starting tonight for Brighton I read.

Zlatan isn't long term...blah blah blah. You lot seem to forget Fergie brought in an ageing Larsson

Why do you shoot down my post about Zlatan and then say shipping out Rooney, which I said is the only way the Zlatan move ever makes sense.

If Rooney goes, bring in Zlatan, if he stays (which he will because no one has the balls to sell him) then forget Zlatan and make someone like Morata a priority.

To be honest my priority would be a player like Morata over Zlatan anyway, I just want us to be able to build a spine for the team that can serve us at least for the forseeable future. Bringing Zlatan is a short term fix that could have dire consequences if it goes wrong, another disaster season that we can't afford to have. At least if Morata does bad in first season you still have something to work with.

Zlatan is going to be practically 35 when he joins his next club, I don't care how good he is he won't be at his best and for me this move just makes little sense.

Do you see Martial/ Rashford or even both as future striking options for Utd?

If you do, look at such a move this way. Someone like Ibrahimovic would be the perfect 'bridge' player the next few years to bring them on at their own pace.

Because whatever we do with rooney, we should get Zlatan. Rooney has no future as a forward. Only as a midfielder.

No move Zlatan has made has gone wrong Even Barcelona was still decent.

You keep saying dire consequence, but has that ever actually happened with him

Zlatan, doesn't move around a great deal, so he has about 2-3 years in him. That's great dev time for Rashford.

FWIW zz, I currently don't see Utd as seriously challenging next year even with Mourinho personally.

Add Ibrahimovic's goals and that flips and the fear seriously then becomes the Van Persie effect like your last league triumph in elevating an ordinary-good group to the title.

I don't want him anywhere near your club if that helps.
