Again picked a great game to miss, really have to thank my 6 month daughter for keeping me occupied.

I expected us to finish outside top 4, so in the grand scheme this loss is not surprising or shouldn't hurt much but when City presented so many chances for us to finish in top 4 it's really poor of us not to accept it.

2-1 up in the last 10 mins and lost the game that we was arguably the most important game in the league this season shows how bad this team is or how badly it is coached.

Sooner Van Gaal is sacked, better it is.

Still haven't watched the game so can't comment on player performance, just read Martial scored 2 goals. He is having superb season and his output is incredible considering he is playing as Left winger and also in Van Gaal's system.

Dont bother watching mate because apart from Martial and maybe Smalling and Carrick in the second half everything/one was ****!!

It will be interesting to see the likes of Darmian, Schniederlin, Herrera etc after another season and under a new manager. Well all the new signings we made this season! Can't wait for Shaw to be back.

Writing off any player under Van Gaal is madness. Everyone should be given another chance to impress. Van Gaal's pathetic tactic/rigid philosophy has impact on so many players.

All the players who played very good or great for their previous clubs turned out poor for us. They all can't regress at the same time when they are that young. Schneiderlin was arguable best DM/defensive box to box player in the league or at least in top 2 with Matic and now he looks devoid of any confidence.

Darmian started so brilliantly and then was Van Gaal'd. Even players like Herrera, Di Maria, Rojo all started well before regressing.

Change of coach is the best possible outcome.

Could not agree more if Jose or whoever does come in just watch the likes of said players look back to there best under said manager.

Sorry for the double post but site is not allowing me to delete.

Imho the core of our squad is more than decent and should be good for top 3. For next season and with a better (?) manager we ve got a pretty good core of players: De Gea (if he stays - wont blame him if he loses patience), Fosu Mensah, Darmian (utilised as a right fullback only), Smalling, Blind (as a squad player utilised at dm where his lapses in concentration and size wont be so crucial and where his good passing of the ball will greatly help or at LB), Schweini (if fit - good to have around for his experience if anything), Morgan (must be given matches to build his confidence), Herrera, Mata (if Mou comes he's a goner) Rushford and Martial.

Im even hopeful that Rojo can come good with better coaching ...

Four things must be happening: the tactics must be all wrong (and we ve seen plenty of evidence of this), a lot of class players have gone off the boil together (MATA, an undoubtedly class player is a case in point) and/or the coaching is iffy.

Lastly, if you cast your mind at the beginning of the season when our first choice full backs were playing and clicking we were getting better and better. Then SHAW got injured and LVG started moving Darmian allover the place doing bad stuff to his confidence etc (and using youngsters and or non-full backs) and its all gone downhill since. Perhaps the core of our tactics was the full backs working properly and, with the above issues in mind the performances suffer. Which brings one back to the tactics ...

Anyway, LVG has been shocking to the point that Im seriously wondering if he's gone senile as he has been consistently doing obviously weird stuff and is nothing like the manager he has been elsewhere.

Im sure that if Mou is the new guy (though I would prefer Cholo Simeone Id be comfy with Mou) Fellaini and Lingard wont remain Utd players for too long and people like Valencia and Young will be moved back to their familiar positions and become squad bit players as they deserve.

Also have to feel for Rashford as of late. Looks a little jaded and think he's struggling up top alone which is understandable. Can't believe we are relying on an just turned 18 yr old to lead the line for us. Not slagging him off he's been a revelation but it's to much for the young lad. A top top STR is a must with a quality partner for Smalling and a quality RW their the 3 key possitions for me and a Dictating CM. Them 4 signings and a new manager would transform this team.

About Rashford, his play and pass leading to our first goal last nite was sublime.

BTW we are going to greatly regret not getting RENATO SANCHES, Im willing to bet good money on it.

Yeah was good play by him leading up to the goal. Sanches will be a good player and would have been happy if we signed him but would not be the sort of CM I would be targeting as a priority.

Oh while I'm watching the u17s champs. Our new signing Chong was very impressive for Holland the other day best player on the pitch by a mile. Direct, Pacey, good dribbling and creative.

I've been saying that the whole season. With Memphis/Martial on the left and Mata on the right, they all constantly drift inside. That means you absolutely NEED competent full backs to provide width.

All of the games when you were just passing the ball aimlessly for hours was exactly that - the other team sits deep and narrow, and they are impenetrable because you cannot stretch the field of play.

His entire gameplan for this season relied on having roaming full backs, and with Darmian/Valencia on the right, and Shaw/Rojo/Young on the left, it was a solid plan. But with all 5 of those out for most of the season, it all went **** up.

And he couldn't really adapt the tactics to new situation, because he doesn't have a classic winger in the squad. Hence the emergence of Lingard, who is average but at least provided some direct running on the wing. But you're not going to turn the season around with Lingard-quality players.

I thought that verbal agreement was in place several months ago. Or are there just multiple verbal agreements? I'm confused.

BBC reported in Feb that ManUtd met Jose (nothing about verbal agreement).

Jose Mourinho: Man Utd hold talks with former Chelsea manager - BBC Sport

10th may:
It is understood talks have taken place with Mourinho, who has also managed Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Porto. A verbal agreement that the 53-year-old Portuguese will become the next manager at Old Trafford is believed to have been reached.
United chief executive Ed Woodward has been silent on Van Gaal's future at the club.

So at least BBC didn't report anything on verbal agreement back then, they reported only yesterday. In feb they reported that ManUtd met Jose.

Simon peach tweeted that Shaw won't play this season and is planning to return to preseason early. Also he had minor op to remove the screws and training with U21s.

Can't wait to watch him play again for us.

Yeah not much point risking him back now. Let him get a full pre season done and hopefully he will be 100% at the start of the Prem

He is not even ready as he didn't participate in full training yet.

Good to see the attitude of young player. Even this season Shaw and Januzaj took personal trainer to their vacation to keep them fit. They returned in better shape than before. Shame about how the season panned out for both.

Soon gonna have to be a decision made about Januzaj imo. Yes the talent is there and he is young, but big concerns about his attitude. Personally I would give him one more season under a new manager. Under LVG he's better leaving because he won't get a sniff.
