Manchester United: Jose Mourinho adds Ricardo Formosinho to backroom team and targets move for Benfica scout
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
is keen to sign Benfica's Brazilian scout Francisco Oliveira as he looks to enhance the Red Devils' scouting network in South America. The 63-year-old scout has been credited with spotting players like David Luiz, Luisao, Ramires and Talisca during his time with the Portuguese club. The former Chelsea manager is said to have also added Ricardo Formosinho to his backroom team making him Mourinho's first addition.
According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Oliveira's name was the first on Mourinho's list of potential recruitments following his appointment as United manager in May. The Premier League big guns are hoping t
o lure him from Benfica in order to be able torecruit the best young talent from the football- loving nation.
Oliveira has been residing in Brazil for the last 25 years and has previously worked with the Brazilian football federation and Fifa before joining Benfica as a scout. Mourinho is said to be keen to add him to his scouting roster owing to his expertise in South American football.
Mourinho has managed his fair share of Brazilian players during his time with Porto, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea and is keen to have an edge when it comes to spotting South American talent. The 20-time English champions are making amends to their coaching and scouting structure in the youth level following the appointment of Nicky **** as the director of the academy earlier in the year.
They have already begun making progress in the transfer market in terms of signing the best young players from across the globe with Republic of Ireland U16 international Lee O'Connor and United States U19 international Matthew Olasunde having already confirmed their moves. Tahith Chong has confirmed his imminent move, while Bordeaux's Adam Ounas has also been targeted.
Meanwhile, according to the Sun, Mourinho has already made his first signing as United manager after adding Formosinho to his backroom staff as technical scout. The Portuguese coach has worked with the Red Devils boss during his stint as manager of Porto and Real.
Formosinho is expected to join Rui Faria and Silvinho Louro and will be responsible for tactical scouting as well as identifying potential signings for the future.

Also to add to above post we have already signed for next season a young STR from FC Zurich a young Belguim CB who has been on trial.
Gill had nothing to do with the Ronaldinho **** up (cos it was a **** up as even SAF has indirectly acknowledged since). It was KENYON who tried to act clever and as a result had to see Ronie going to Barca instead.
Di Maria Falcao, Schweinsteiger are high profile signings. Also there was nothing wrong with the players signed. Van Gaal just Van Gaaled then. Schneiderlin was one of the best CM in the league but Van Gaal made him look like pub player with his pathetic tactics. Woodward talked big and spent big, he cant do much if manager don't know how to use the players he wanted.
Also made record breaking bids for Bale amd nuller, can't blame them if they didn't want to play for Moyes and LVG.
Man Utd always had money. Gill didn't spend and SAF always said no value in the market. SAF said many times even after retirement how Glazers never said no for funds.
Silva was missed because we didn't act fast when he was for sale. We made bids year before and Valencia said he won't leave that year.
Robben we had fee agreed but Chelsea or of nowhere just completed the deal. Those 2 signings were missed not because of money.
People have no idea about Gill at all. Every transfer window Gill used to talk about transfer war chest but never spent.You should check ManUtd forums to see how fans used to make fun of invisible war chest.Gill always talked big but SAF didn't spend when needed. City owner talk about money, PSG owner did, Perez did, Gill did but you have problem when Woodard did. Obvious though. Woodward talked big and spent big. Not sure what the problem is.
We agreed fee for Ronaldinho Kenyon came back and made a bid Million or 2 leas than agreed value.PSG were ****** off and sold him to Barca who made lesser bid than Man Utd.
I certainly cannot remember Gill boasting about United's prowess in the transfer market in such a in-your-face manner that Woodward has been doing the past few seasons. Also another thing that helped Gill is that United actually won trophies regularly under his reign which backed up these supposed comments about transfer war chest that you claimed he was making. Also Mike stated himself that Woody talks big which made most fans eventually dillusioned when things were not reproduced on the pitch and I just added onto that so not sure where you get this idea that I have a problem with Woodward ...

You don't remember? So what. Every since glazer take over Gill said many times how money was not a problem as long as right players are available. Did you even watch Woodward's interview or just read in whatever tone suited your agenda.
Gill didn't win trophies, SAF did. Club won trophies before Gill too. SAF was the only reason in the management why club won trophies.
Woodward promised spending and he did. Fans had problem with manager and he is replaced now. Btw Woodward gave everything needed for manager to succeed. He can't influence how things unfolded on the pitch.
I don't have to pull your posts from 3 years about Woodward and how you called him every name under Sun to prove you have something against him.

What The **** are you even talking about. It's literally Woodward's job to run the business side of things and make deals happen. That's not manager's responsibility. Managers identify the targets, they go to Woodward, he spends summer after summer embarrassing himself launching failed bids. Both Moyes and LVG were left in the dust without the players they were promised, and somehow they're to blame? Are you off your meds again?
It's a pubiically traded company, manager can't just go around saying "we have no money for transfers, we're ******". But sure, they always had the money, totally. Bringing Scholes out of retirement was also due to "lack of value on the market", because Fergie just didn't see a point of using his multi-million, always available warchest, on someone who will actually have legs.

As I said, Gill may very well have said that United have money to spend but Woodward did it in a much more brash and arrogant manner which as Mike already pointed out, made many United fans disappointed eventually when results on the pitch did not match the confidence being displayed by United outside of it.
Yes SAF and not Gill won trophies. Not sure where I ever said otherwise. I think you missed the point I tried to make. When Gill made his supposed comments that you claim he did, club won on the field so no one really cared. When Woodward made even more brash comments along the same line, club was doing very badly on the field so people obviously felt that Woody was simply slamming his **** on the table for no good reason and could not back up his big talk.
Of course no woody cannot influence how things turn out on the pitch but as a representative of United, he is also held responsible for the state of the club just as a CEO is held liable for a company's poor performance even if it was not his fault. It is also fair to point to the comments he has made previously and direct some ire at him for the disconnect between them and the results as many United fans did evidenced by season tickets falling.
As for interviews and the tone you say I am reading them in, sure Woodward may have been far more nuanced in his interviews but he still did make or leak comments such as how he could 'break world transfer record' or is away on 'important transfer business' which will be sensationalized by the press and be crucial in the image he is eventually going to be potrayed as in the public eye. That is as much his fault as the media's considering he should be media trained
I would really like to see these posts where I supposedly called Woody 'every name under the sun'. If I recall correctly, I simply said his comments were brash and arrogant as I am saying now. I fail to see the relevance of my comments 3 years ago regardless considering how much the situation has changed since then.

Also don't forget the time Woody spent half a summer chasing after Sergio Ramos only to realize he was being led down the garden path by player and agent who just wanted a new contract. A trick that Ramos has been playing for ages now. Also the time he tried to hide the fact that he had gone to Barcelona to try and sign Pedro by leaking to the press that he was there to lodge an enquiry for Neymar instead
Gill really never went to such extents to potray United as this footballing super power. He let the results on the pitch do most of the talking
