I wouldn't take much notice of the Euro's, and to a certain extent his midfield performances at the back end of last season. Mourinho just said he like specialists in each position. So if Rooney is to fit, he needs to do that specialist job which is required. If that means getting forward from a midfield position and being a playmaker, there isn't much better. The problem is when he starts running round like a headless chicken trying to do every job in every position, probably out of frustration (for England) coz the rest are *****.In theory, but he ended the Euros so badly I wouldnt stake a season on it. I'd definitely start Herrera or Pogba if he arrived over him in a heart beat
So Pigba seems to be the final priority target, and we wont go till august 31st to make the 4th signing
"Rooney will not be a number 6. He will be a 9, a 10, a 9/5, not even an 8". So he is ruled out of midfield entirely
Interesting, Rooney looks done then.
Not done, but not essential any more. Between Zlatan and Rashford he will have to work hard to play 9 or 10, especially if Pogba comes, or Mata doesn't leave.
The fact he says 10, means not going 4-3-3, which means Matuidi is unlikely.
Yep was just going to say this. This is what mourinho just said.So Pigba seems to be the final priority target, and we wont go till august 31st to make the 4th signing

"In football there are many jobs on the field. The one that is more difficult to find is the one who puts the ball in the net. Players change their characteristics with age, so its normal that they change a little bit. But the natural appetite to put the ball in the net never changes. Maybe he is not a No.9 anymore but he will never, with me, be a No.6. He will never be 50 metres from the goal. For me he will be a No.9 or a No.10 or a No.9.5, but with me he will never be a No.6 or a even No.8."
Considering the numbers he used, you would assume he's talking about Rooney. So only 2 positions for him then. 9 seems unlikely unless he has other plans for rashford. But if he is set on having a 10 in the team, and mkhitaryan will be used on the right, then currently I'd say it's between Rooney and mata for the 10. So where does mata stand? I don't see any reason to get rid if he'll be the 10 and not off the right.

Maybe as a no.10, I hope not no.9 as Zlatan/Rashford should be priority over him now. Unless he has different plans for Rashford, I actually like Rashford out-wide so he could use him there but unlikely if we still have Martial/Depay on the left.
Missed the conference. Any link to watch it?
10 minutes in and he's had a shot at LVG (deserved) and Wenger.
Well Arsenal United won't be boring anymore, about time we rekindled that.
Why take an unnecessary shot at LVG? Did they have a falling out or something because they were very close no? Seems petty to me like how he did the same at Benitez when he took over at Chelsea. Although the Benitez one was still slightly more understandable as they have been traditional enemies
Not sure if that Wenger comment was needed tho
As far as I understood, the journo didn't even ask that. The question was something like if a 'star' player of the club still needs to prove a point when a new manager arrives. Was nothing about the manager.
Love it. Hope he's like till the end of the season!Behave mate will yer. (Paraphrasing) 'Some managers haven't won a title in 10 years' ..... It was a flat out dig. Same before it at LVG. And bringing up he's at the biggest club in England ..... You're just starting out as Utd manager. Why even go down that road? Cringe worthy.
He was funny and fresh when he first arrived. Now he's just a tiresome caricature of that. Top manager no doubt but there's no need to be a blert all the time. And this is in friging July. What's he gonna' be like come the season's start?
Dont think it was a dig as such. Just putting things into perspective. He was asked if he had anything to prove or along those lines. He said there's managers who havent won a league for 10 years (Wenger). There's some managers that have never won a league (probably pochettino). He said it's only been 1 season since he last won a league. So why should he be under pressure?Behave mate will yer. (Paraphrasing) 'Some managers haven't won a title in 10 years' .....
