The Manchester United Thread

I'm sorry, on what planet "Cassilasing" Rooney would be a good thing? Iker's treatment was despicable.

Rooney is long over due the bench at best at United, if we finally had a manager with the balls to do it then I would have nothing but respect for Mourinho. Clearly LVG and Moyes didn't have the bottle to make a decision like that.

That wasn't the original point that Tyton rightly responded to.

I agree, if Rooney doesn't perform he will be dropped. I just don't believe the speculation that he'll start the season on the bench, be stripped of the captaincy or any of these conspiracy theories about Rooney leaking stuff.

Someone asked Pilib who would play #10 if Rooney doesn't start, and his answer was "not sure but it won't be Rooney''...well, I don't know how he can be so confident about that if he can't even come up with a replacement.
If we sign Matuidi and Pogba we won't play a 10. It's not a given we will play 4231 anyway. I can easily see Rooney being stripped of the captaincy if he's not a key player. And it's well known we have s leak at the club and for me Giggs and Rooney are the prime candidates, I'm sure I'm not the only one either.

Casillas got dropped and couldn't get over it, no biggie, big players and big egos. Every time Rooney has had to fight for his place he has asked for a transfer away from the club.

Are you forgetting the way you yourself rightly slammed Madrid for the public assassination of Casillas to force him out?

Can't believe people still moaning about the fee!

Bet your bottom dollar Utd fans will be a few years down the line if Pogba's not tore it up and the major trophy's still haven't returned. No doubt about that.

But right here, right now, it is what it is and if that's what you have to pay for someone you want, so be it. Just be happy you can afford it.

I'll slam any club for that but Mourinho was right to drop Casillas from the team. No way in **** you talk with opposition aka title rivals Barcelona after el classico (same night) to try and 'smooth things up'. It was idiotic from Casillas, plus he deserved to get dropped anyway, he had long been not that good at that time.

Bollocks, he won Fifa goalkeeper of the year award that year. And he was dropped for some noname permanent bench warmer.

And oddly enough, after Casillas "smoothen things up", El Classico has became a celebration of football again, rather than freakshow circus it has been under Mourinho reign.

But if he is so sure who is coming, going and who won't be in the team; then he should've been able to give a concrete answer to that question. I'm just not buying it. I do expect Pogba to join us though, would be nice if it was done within the next week or so.

Rooney was one of the only players to publicly back LVG, if anyone leaked info about his tactics, training or whatever I doubt it would be him. The anti-Rooney brigade is absolutely pathetic though, it wasn't too long ago they were saying he's an alcoholic, now he's a mole, what will they come up with next? I can understand people wanting him gone because of how much his ability has declined, but the people who despise him for the little saga six years ago seriously need to grow the **** up and get over it.

It's hardly a celebration of football, it's still a diving fetish and who can run up the ref most times to get other players booked.

I haven't rated Casillas for a long time, when he was at his prime he was great but I thought he should of long been dropped. His name/reputation carried him a lot of the time as undisputed starter, just like it has for Rooney.

I don't want Rooney gone, still think he has a lot to offer. Just don't think he should be a guarentee starter.

100% needs to be gone, not good enough anymore and if he's not starting then why keep him anymore? His wages alone could be nice to have off the books. Plus get a nice transfer fee for him if we're clever about it.

Not good enough. Not sure about that. I don't care about his wages tbh. The club can easily afford it.
