The Manchester United Thread

Also even if Jose wants Pogba now, that does not mean he will not attempt to make a bid next summer as well if Juventus do not sell now. A player of Pogba's talent will interest all major clubs every summer.

Who says Jose even will be at United next summer or 2 years from now. Speculating on future moves based on the assumption of his continued reign is futile as we have seen recently.

I don't think they will shift targets Mike. United are known to monitor and keep close tabs on players like Bale and Neymar etc. for multiple seasons. As long as Pogba keeps developing and continues to do what he does, United and few other clubs will always remain interested in a player of his calibre and talent.

You're speculating about whether he will wanted in future. If we can't use any hypothesis because it's speculation then this conversation is a waste of time.

Juve waiting tho depends on Pogba signing a new deal, as Steverobbo pointed out his contract ends in 2019 so after next summer there position only getsweaker if he ddoesn't sign one

Also he has 4 titles and is a CL runner up, and was instrumental in 3 titles and the CL campaign. Yet all but one club still consider him too expensive, and that one club isn't willing to even wait till august 31st to get it done. Why would other clubs then come back a year later and then spend even more?

Mourinho will be here for 3 seasons.

I am basing mine on a hypothesis that Pogba will continue to develop and show his potential which based on his current trajectory seems more than plausible. You are basing yours on an assumption that a manager who has bombed out his last 2 jobs will still be at the same club in 2 years time with his biggest rival in the same town. Yes I agree all discussion is pointless without some hypothesis but its fair to call out a hypothesis that seems less than plausible

I hardly mentioned other clubs though. Why won't United come back and spend more in 1-2 years when Pogba matures and becomes close to the finished article? You are almost implying that their interest will only be for this summer and then be non-existent after that?

I don't know. All I feel is that discussing United's future dealings on the assumption that Mourinho will be managing is pointless considering he bombed out of his last 2 jobs after winning the league. I would apply the same line of thinking to Conte, Klopp and perhaps less to Pep.

Axel, Henderson, Wilson, Joel, TFM, Blackett, Varela and Andreas all trained with the 1st team today. Which is weird because apparently Varela and Blackett weren't supposed to be "according to ssn sources".

We've committed to £50 million or so in salary over the next 6 years to Klopp and his two compadres.

He's the anomaly to that group. His projects aren't short term. He builds clubs and wants to leave them better in every facet than when he first arrived.

He's already proven it, and and proven his trajectory, why would anyone priced out now come back and pay more next season?

Also Chelsea is the only job in his career where he didnt make it to two years, your hypothesis on that point is incredibly weak.

He's just a project player as I've shown. He's been key to 3 titles and a CL run where they were underdogs every single time. United are not going to pay any more next season than they would offer now. It makes no sense whatsover. He's miles ahead of where Bale was, and United were willing to spend £80m on him too.

Pogba winning another title at Juve isn't going to make United go "oh lets spend more" because he's shown more than once he can do it

I agree. I think out of Klopp, Jose and Pep, Klopp will be around the longest. Jose and Pep tend to win titles and then leave. I don't think Liverpool are going to win any titles so Klopp wont feel like he can leave yet :P

It makes no sense for United to up any bid next season, when they can simply do it now.

Burnley have confirmed the signing of Manchester United central defender Jimmy Dunne.

Bizarre. Wouldn't mind keeping Varela. Blackett is pony though
