I do feel pogba has been played out of position so far. He needs to be in a midfield of 3...better yet, @ no. 10

Defo in s midfield 3. He needs to be driving forward as the more advanced CM out the 3. Not as a 10 with him receiving the ball with his back to goal. I really hope we switch to an early days Mou 3 in midfield. Ideally

Ddg
Valencia- Smalling- Bailly
Schniederlin
Fellaini- Pogba
Mky- Zlatan-Martial

I don't really think he has been played out of position to be honest. Lack of support? Maybe. But he's a box-to-box all round midfielder, he showed exactly what he's about against Southampton, intercepting, surging forward, evading challenges, taking players out of the game, etc. and the only reason he didn't overly stand out against Hull was due to how much we were constantly in the final third, it was hardly a midfield battle. The City game was the perfect game for him to leave his mark on, and to be fair he did have some really good moments of picking the ball up and driving the ball forward in the first half for all he saw of the ball, and he, along with his team mates did look lively in the opening moments of the second half too, coming out of the blocks very encouragingly, but as soon as Pep packed the midfield by throwing on Fernando for their sole striker, to go along with Fernandinho & Silva, they simply done a number on him.

Also, I don't mean to throw old overheard debate again, but does anyone feel Schweinsteiger would've been invaluable in a game like that? Gritty, vastly experienced, classy on the ball, been involved in so many of these big games, I feel he & Pogba would also compliment each other really well. But I understand, at this stage, it's unlikely to ever going to happen.

I don't think anyone understands why is he leaving Schweinsteiger out. The fitness excuse is bullshit because he kept Carrick who is both older and less mobile. And I seriously doubt the club would sign 31-year old on a massive wages and 3 year contract, if fitness tests didn't prove he will be able to play competitive football for that long.

My guess is there had to be some bruhaha behind the scenes. I mean, he became a fan favorite from day one, it seemed that he gelled with the squad instantly, he speaks excellent English, has a reputation for being a superb professional, everything points out that he adapted well to living and working in Manchester.

Then suddenly everyone acts like he's on a wheelchair, some "leaks" are coming out of the club that he doesn't get along with the squad, finally he doesn't even make 23-man squad. The whole thing is bizarre.

Carrick carries more authority in the club than Bastian, and I speak as someone who would love to see more of him.

There hasn't been any bust up, he just prefers Carrick and others to him.

I'd have been playing Morgan tbh, with Pogba and Herrera

I agree that you should be playing a 4-3-3, probably with Schneiderlin, in order to release Pogba, otherwise this could be like France and Deschamps at the Euros. That would mean Rooney would have to make way though, and that seems unlikely at this stage.

As for Mourinho..I like Liverpool over Chelsea or Man United, AC Milan over Inter, and Barcelona over Madrid, yet I actually like the guy. He's a bit arrogant at times but he can also be quite witty, I like listening to him. Maybe it's just his accent or something

I don't know, considering the extent of character assassination club pulled on LVG, it's not exactly a stretch to assume they might have done the same to his most trusted lieutenant. Those leaks didn't leak themselves.

The sidelining of Schneiderlin is another mystery, neither Van Gaal nor Mou seem to trust him, and **** if I understand why. He's better defensively then Fellaini and has far superior passing range.

I agree with you, and even though Fellaini gives you something different in the air, it's not like Morgan, standing at 6ft'1, isn't a handful himself.

I agree with Epic Terrorist. Fun catching up on 15 pages of unread stuff.

Pogba wasn't really relevant in the match. Few glimpses of what he could do but mostly just irrelevant throughout the game. Probably due to still finding match fitness after the Euros and no pre-season, still not much team chemistry and overall bad tactics from Mou during the first half. His hair tho is a bit daft.

Ibra also was a bit poor during the game I thought. Besides his wonderful goal, which came because of bad communications from Bravo and Stone, he was just shooting at the first chance and didn't even try to hold the ball up. Would have liked to see him do that more.

After catching up on the last 15 pages, I hope you realise that the bolded line is the only part of that comment that anyone will pay attention to!

Samper was weak. Picked up an injury later on but incredible how much he hides in games. #MUFC loanee Andreas Pereira far superior today.

Andreas Pereira probably best Granada player today. Looked to change game, always intent on making something happen. Strong debut. #MUFC.

PSV Eindhoven talent scout Roy Beukenkamp will leave the club immediately to join Manchester United.

The former goalkeeper has been a part of the PSV technical staff for the past year but according to VI has now signed a contract to join Manchester United for an indefinite number of years. He will be based in the Netherlands.

Beukenkamp told VI, “It was quite a difficult choice.I worked very comfortable with PSV. When the club first showed interest I did not address it immediately. Eventually, you start thinking anyway. This is an opportunity that might never come. Last week, the clubs reached an outcome. I start immediately. ”

Before joining PSV, Beukenkamp worked with Groningen and FC Twente.

Here are some things I could find about Beukenkamp:

Previously at FC Twente and FC Groningen as youth scout.

Praised for work with fellow-scout Grads Fuhler at Groningen, for bringing in players that were sold for 17 million euros in the space of 6 months.

Called 'masterscout' by Rens Walland who discovered Arjen Robben.

'Roy is a fantastic scout with probably the best network in Denmark out of everybody."

One of the first to discover Kasper Dolberg.

VI also says that the scouting will have a louder voice at the club and he will be a first-team scout in Holland for an undecided amount of time.

Not bad :)

Ibrahimovic on the recent Pogba criticism:

‘I did not know Paul before and now I know him personally, he is a boy who works hard, he wants to progress and has a good attitude.

‘But he is still young and all the jealous people talking about him will swallow every word they said about him. Because he will only get better.’

Ibrahimovic on the Rashford:

“We know his quality and what he’s able to do. What the world is seeing now, we already know because we see it every day. There is no need to push him and put him in the heat zone and put a lot of pressure on him because that can have the opposite effect.Time by time, he will take over everything. It’s about having patience.”

This is exactly what Ibrahimovic does for the club off the pitch, trying to absorb all pressure from the other highlighted players, and at the same time, giving them confidence by publicly assuring & believing in them.

3 in 3 on the pitch, talks like that off the pitch. Rather have him for 2 years than Harry Kane

I reckon we could be seeing a lot of Herrera in the coming weeks, Jose seems to like him;

"Ander Herrera came on in the second half and was the one that allowed us to recover the ball fast to press higher, to bring the team higher to build a new wave of attack and put another long ball into the last line. Ander was phenomenal in his attitude."
