When has any footballer outside of pre-season? All relative when he's missed sessions and is carrying a back injury from everything coming out.

He may now be benched. But it's way too early to proclaim that he has been. He doesn't start at Anfield after this break you have something more substantial to go on.

That will be a great blow to Liverpool if Rooney is dropped that's for sure!

I don't want to tempt fate but I've honestly not seen anything from any of your midfield combinations to press to think they can deal with the exceptional level Lallana, Wijnaldum and Henderson have been at to this point.

But then the fluidity of everything in our attacking 5/6 positions such nobody outside of Henderson has a set position anyway.

You probably would disagree, but from an opposition stand point I'd much more prefer to face Shaw at LB than Blind. Blind gives you a whole new attacking dimension by both playing balls across himself inside and having the ability to move inside higher up diagonally. Along with being very savvy positionally.

Blind out there against Leicester contributed far more to Mahrez's ineffectual game than Shaw probably would of just bombing up and down.

And looking at the strength of the Stoke side both in the XI and on the bench it's a real head scratcher as to why it's turned so fast this year down there.

You are what your points are like but on paper at least, no way is that the worst side in the league with no wins.

Probably because they have Mark Hughes as manager, now I've said that they will no doubt take points off us today. But jeez if we don't win this type of game today we can forget anything worthwhile happening this season in terms of achievement. Have to be beating these and put pressure on those above like Spurs and City who play later.

Exactly the same scenario with L'pool and Milner who has been a stroke of genius being Klopp's chosen LB this year.

Two unheralded players from opposition fans you really don't appreciate just how good they are until they play for your side.

I know it was just the community shield, but Shaw really frustrated Mahrez that day too. I'd personally prefer Luke, and really think in him we have potentially one of the best left back's in world football, but I do understand what you're saying regarding Daley's intelligence, and if he's our back up left back along with Darmian being our current back up right back to a rejuvenated Valencia, it's certainly a much more comfortable situation in those areas this term around.

Got to say I had my doubts about Milner but he has been very good, in a way very much reminds me of Valencia in the style and attitude they play. Both have that attitude, determination and work rate to give any position a go and both have adapted well this season to fullback. They might get caught out a few times positionally but that is the risk you have to take.

Would not disagree TBH. But for me I think Shaw would be better against teams who sit back and pack the middle Shaws width would be great and his pace and getting to the byline would help in those sort of games. Against teams like City Pool etc I actually think Blind would be better. His possitioning and ability on the hall would be better to keep possession and give us more composure against pressing teams. Think it's even on the defensive side ATM, but Shaw is a scary good so young and will only get better.

But under Hughes they've worked hard to completely change the way they play and turned themselves into a pretty tidy footballing side that has been in the next bracket down from the big 6.

i think when Hughes inherited that team last season they were still good defensively and from an organisation perspective from what Pulis had ingrained into them. No doubt they improved last season in an attacking sense but if you look at this season they have gone to **** defensively and conceded most goals in league.

Be interesting to see them today as the only other time I've watched Stoke this year was against City and that was never a 4-1 game. Stoke dominated and should of been 2 or 3 clear before a couple of 'interesting' officiating decisions both ends did for them and they collapsed.
