The Manchester United Thread

the future is bright for sure but i worry as to how long the board will tolerate these kind of results.Ludicrous i know but thats the game these days...or should i say business

I'm not even arsed, just bring on the next game already. I said it once (against Stoke) and I'll say it again, you won't come up against keepers in that mode week in week out, some poor team is going to walk off the pitch with a huge spanking very soon I feel.

That is definitely our team with those players in those positions, like I've been ranting & raving about in almost every second post these days. We just need more conviction in front of goal.

Like my opening line said, not arsed, off out for a couple. Cheerio folks

The club won't be rash with Mourinho, they can't afford to be. There's a feel of "this is it, he's our last hope of re-steadying the ship" - so he will get time, and more money, and he will (I hope) get it right.

i agree mate but if this continues they wont want another year without CL football.Jose will get it right in time, yes there are problems but we arent even in november yet

I'm not giving up on Zlatan just yet. I remember RVP going about 10-11 games without scoring. The problem is no one else is scoring and the keepers seem to be on fire against us. I'm 200% sure Zlatan will start scoring again soon.

Say what you like about the performances.. depending on Chelsea win tomorrow could be 7 points off top 4 alone tomorrow. Whether or not I agree with it the pressure on Mourinho is growing intensely now.

Only from people outside the club. Ed and Co won't be putting him under any pressure. And I bet my life IF we miss out on top for Jose will still be here next season, and so he should be.

Massively affects our adidas spomsorship if miss out on top 4 again.. not sure what the implications will ultimately be but you would imagine getting pretty serious considering our wage bill. Could we afford to have so many high earners at the club still? I hope we learn before a total rebuild is needed. But it looks inevitable that our demise might be steep before we come back strong.

Mourinho has got us playing some great stuff against smaller sides and dross against bigger sides so far. Not sure the board will care about anything other than results at the moment.

Money is the least of our worries tbh. Even if we fail to make CL next season, we will lose about 60m from the addidas deal. Not even a scratch considering we are signing new deals and partners every season. Plus it goes up again if we qualify the season after.

"If United fail to participate in the Champions League for two or more consecutive seasons, then the payment for that year would reduce up to 30%, i.e. £22.5 million, though this would be spread over the remainder of the contract." Swiss Ramble

So basically if we fail to qualify for the CL next season the remaining 8 years of the contract the figure paid would be £72.2m, rather than £75m (£22.5m / 8 - 75). If we failed to qualify next year also it would drop to £69m and so forth.

So in truth it isn't a big deal.

Not picking about anything as I like Ibrahimovic but found a depressing fact
"Ibrahimovic is 593 mins without a League goal, his worst run since Sept-Oct 2006"

How is Martial doing? Is there any hope for him coming back soon? Also should he be thinking about dropping Rashford? He might wear him out as he is young also. I would even try to start with Depay and see how it goes, he needs to find himself
Should use the same tactics only start Depay for Rashford and Schneiderlin for Herrera. Isint the midfield to open for exploits if you have Pogba and Herrera together there?
Clad to see Shaw back up and running.

There is too much should and could in here. Same was with Liverpool game. If you dont convert your options you wont. Nothing cant be done, there is no point in speculating.
Martial is back training after injury. And why would we drop our best player and CM? We have absolutely dominated today even when down to 10 men. CM is not the problem, our finishing is!

Zlatan needs to be dropped he has missed so many great chances in last 4 games. Even if it is to just get him out of the headlights and try Rashford up there. Or even Rooney just for something different.

You drop Zlatan for any of those 2 our play will get worse. It's the problem with having a shot Rooney and having to rely on an out of form and still very young STR. I would give anything to have Hernandez still at this club!

Rashford is out of form because he is playing out-wide though. His best position is upfront.

Never drop a misfiring striker. That's always a mistake. Strikers always average out dry runs with hot streaks. Just look at Mané at Liverpool who went on a 5 month dry run. Prior to the season start.

Rashford has been overhyped at such a young age. He's still raw. Iheanacho at the moment is more developed and has a much better end product. Rashford has had a hot streak towards the end of last season scoring a ridiculously high proportion of shots on target. He's a elite talent to be playing in the prem at 18 years old but the best option is to stick with Zlatan.
