Good luck Derby!

What? It's getting tight the top the U-18 League North for the playoffs. Every little helps.

Saw the highlights of last Saturday's game through the week. He took his goals excellently. And yeah, not sure how that first L'pool penalty was awarded. Dhanda was doing just as much pulling as the Utd lad.

Official match report:UNDER-18S: MANCHESTER UNITED 4 DERBY 0Under-18 Premier League | The Cliff Training Ground | Scorers: Gomes 9 (pen), Chong 29, Bohui 36, Buffonge 53Manchester United’s Under-18s moved to the top of the Premier League North table following a comfortable win at The Cliff on Friday evening. With leaders Manchester City not in action until Saturday the victory saw them leapfrog their neighbours into first place, and it was another impressive performance from the youngsters as the Reds stretched their unbeaten streak to nine games. The Cliff, to the uninformed, is United’s former training ground alongside the River Irwell in Greater Manchester’s ‘second-city’, Salford. The facility gained legendary status over five decades as a breeding ground for some of the club’s greatest players, most notably the fabled Busby Babes and Sir Alex Ferguson’s famed ‘Class of 92’.Ahead of the game the groundsmen had treated the pitch to a generous session of ‘TLC’ and it was looking in truly pristine condition as the players and backroom staff of the two teams arrived. It certainly provided an inspirational setting for Kieran McKenna’s free-scoring young Reds who wasted no time getting into their stride. It was an impressive start as United swept the ball about with the supreme confidence that an eight-match unbeaten run can generate. Just nine minutes into the game and United were in front when Angel Gomes put the ball into the net after Joshua Bohui had been felled in the area. It was a lead that was certainly deserved and in keeping with the flow of play in the early minutes of the game.A few minutes later and Gomes almost made it two when narrowly shooting wide after taking a pass from Jake Kenyon. Kenyon was in sparkling form down the left wing using his pace to put the Derby defence under a constant threat. In the 29th minute United doubled the lead with Tahith Ching planting a precise shot past Derby keeper Matthew Yates after Kenyon had provided the cross.Seven minutes later and Kenyon was up to his tricks again sending over an inch-perfect pass into the area for Bohui to head firmly past Yates.United took the foot off the pedal a little after half-time, but that didn’t stop the Reds adding a fourth goal, in the 53rd minute, through DJ Buffonge.United and neighbours City look to be on course for a head-to-head battle for the league title and that little dispute will take centre stage next Saturday morning at the Aon Training Complex when the Blues are the visitors.United: Moutha-Sebtaoui (Johnstone M. 57); Tanner, Warren, O’Connor, Kenyon (Ercolani 54); Chong, McIntosh-Buffonge, Whelan, Boonen (Barlow 74); Gomes, Bohui. Subs not used: Dunne, BurkartYou can watch highlights of the game on MUTV from 18:00 GMT on Saturday.

.....United and neighbours City look to be on course for a head-to-head battle for the league title and that little dispute will take centre stage next Saturday morning at the Aon Training Complex when the Blues are the visitors .....

Little misleading that as the top 4 in both North and South then go into another league combined league playing 7 games to decide who wins the U-18's PL. (And qualification for net years UEFA Youth League. Yay!.).

Good little battle for the pride of being the Northern Division winners though. United currently top. City 2 points back with 3 in hand. L'pool 6 back with 2 in hand. Playing at fourth placed Blackburn tomorrow. (Same as L'pool. 6 behind Utd with 2 in hand.). Everton look the only other possible to break the top 4 top playoff group. (Getting too into the youth side this year haha.).

Youth Cup should be exceptionally strong this year when you add in the holders Chelsea complete dominance the past 6/7 seasons.

Well done on another big win.

Legia Cup (players born in 2006 or later if I understood correctly), an indoor (or not really, a hall?) tournament in Warsaw:

United 5-1 FC Midtjylland
Anderlecht 4-0 United
United 2-0 Juventus

Matches against Team Europa and Hertha Berlin still to be played this afternoon. Four top teams from each group (Group A; Ajax, Benfica, Sparta Prague, Sydney Olympic, Red Bull Salzburg, Legia) go through to QFs, all cup games tomorrow.

Utd won there next game of the Legia cup

United 4-0 Team Europa. M'Larty, Jones, Morrison scored. 2nd in the group at the moment.

United top the group B in the Legia Cup and go through with 4 wins and 1 defeat. We meet Ajax tomorrow in the first cup game.

United 5-1 FC Midtjylland
Anderlecht 4-0 United
United 2-0 Juventus
United 4-0 Team Europe
United 4-1 Hertha

Big game today. Psychologically we've definitely got the upper hand going into this; winning with sublime ease midweek and with a bit of style, whereas West Ham had to stew over throwing away a 1-2 88th minute lead to lose 3-2.

Would love to see Mkhitaryan feature in some way, but have a feeling he won't, as even though I don't agree with Mourinho's theory that he will struggle against the more physical teams, it probably means he won't play today with West Ham being one of the more "physical" teams in the league.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rooney play tbh, I noticed how himself, Mata & Mkhitaryan kept switching across the line midweek, with Rooney taking up the inside left at times allowing Mkhitaryan to go wide right with Mata down the middle, and so on... it was effective. Even though Rooney doesn't have the pace of Rashford or Martial, his final ball/decision making on counter attacks is sublime when he's sharp & confident, which he seems to be at the moment... and having said that little comment about his pace, he even showed a decent burst of acceleration for to kickstart that counter which led to his goal midweek. With 12 goals in 20 appearances against the hammers, and the little bit of form & confidence he's in, I wouldn't begrudge him a start should Jose feel he's right for this game.

Quick straw poll ou of personal interest:

Obviously you want to win both games the next 4 days against West Ham. That goes without saying. But for the sake of this, you can only win one. Which one do you take?

Personally, in your shoes, I take Wednesday hands down. Gets you into a semi and Mourinho potentially three games from his first trophy. Brings guaranteed European footie for next season a step closer in the Spring. And as a fan a day out at Wembley and silverware > top 4 and no trophy and it's not even a debate. Talking of .... Realistically, any title hope is long dead. And I'd be expecting to get 4th over the remaining 25 games regardless. So it'd be a no-brainer to stay the League Cup to me in that scenario.

But I know our good buddy zz wouldn't agree for one so just for ***** and gigles it'd be interesting to read which game of the 2 you'd rather win if only one was available?

Easy one for me Scouse.
The cup match on Wednesday.

Top 4 is as competitive as ever, 6 points off Arsenal even before todays game, this one is much more important than Wednesday in the league cup. Who the **** even really gives much of a care about that competition anymore anyway? ****** **** they've changed the name of it that many times it's a bit of a joke in itself. F.A Cup is much more of a reputable, respected trophy to win. Not saying throw away the game on Wednesday but it has little value compared to today.

You're playing devils advocate or utterly bonkers. Sacrificing today would give up any hope of top 4 for me. Can't see us catching up with Arsenal when they are 8+ points ahead.
