The Manchester United Thread

On to some brighter news. Andreas Periera was fantastic again at the weekend. Showing great attitude and work rate, with some fantastic passing and skill. Also scoring his first goal of the season.

Well, Tottenham next in the league, a titan clash for the battle of 5th place.

MUST win. A draw's no good at all to you. A defeat is unthinkable.

But I think I'm right in thinking Tottenham haven't won at Utd in eons? So there is that.

I've been saying it for weeks now, forget top 4 and focus on the europa. That's a more "realistic" route atm.

Spurs is a big game. But every game should be now! Top 4 still not over. And people make me laugh saying we should just concentrate on the Europa and it's our best chance lol. Like it's some easy comp we should be dominating and there all **** teams in it. League still the priority! But should go as far as we can in the Europa and all cups!

Forget the title. Forget top 4. This season is over. 9 points off Man City in 4th alone. Unacceptable. I don't care who's in charge and what the circumstances.

What exactly is unacceptable? Team is actually playing pretty well, being positive, making chances etc, and what is happening this season is unprecedented.

Im pretty ****** off about our position but I cant find much to fault with us.

How so?

Decent point.

If you access this season in general, they've been a lot of those matches where it feels like we "threw" points away. Those 4 home draws in a row should've been all wins, unquestionably.

Imagine if we took wins from those 4 games, we would've been 8 points better than we are now, 1 point behind city, 4 behind chelsea, our season would've been pretty much alive.

But that's all hypothetical of course.

Sounds like MANY a L'pool PL season when Utd were dominating.

Dominating games. Not scoring. Dropping points. Left with all the 'what if's?'

You used to mock us for that. Just saying.

You can't spurn all these winning positions and points then to hear a manager blame it constantly on 'luck' without ignoring the mistakes that have been made that has also contributed. Especially his late substitutions in games that constantly let opposition pile the pressure on and almost invite them to score a goal.

The performances are far too inconsistent, yes we have played well against smaller sides but then look at how we have played against City early in season, Liverpool, Chelsea etc. These are all points lost that have contributed to our current position.

No I'm not Jose out or anything like that.... yet. But his record in the league since last season is quite dreadful and to hear him keep coming out and saying the same old things makes me worried. He isn't realising his own mistakes he is making with the substitutions late on in games and other areas that need sorting out.

Another thing, the team selection this season has been such a mess, Mkhitaryan barely featuring at all until end of November. We've been crying out for him for ages.

The simpler answer would of been he's managing the most expensively assembled squad in the World, of which £150 plus million he contributed to, with the largest wage bill of any team in any sport on the planet.

Rightly or wrongly when that kind of money is at play expectations are at the highest they can be and he's falling well short with this being Utd's worst ever start the PL era.

I don't see how it can't be deemed unacceptable and serious questions asked as they would be of anyone in that position failing so badly.

I thought there's more money going on in Basketball, but might be wrong.

Thank you. I was slightly mislead when someone recounted that to me the other week and after you just queried it, they must of gotten mistaken and should of told me Utd had the highest football salary of any sports team in the World. There's 3 American franchises that have a slightly higher annual wage bill:
