The Manchester United Thread

Not heard the full interview but I would imagine reading that it's simply protecting your own He's been lambasted all week, so signal him out publicly for praise to boost him.

It's nonsense in literal terms bur as a player that's what you want from your manager.
Thats exactly what he was doing. Also not destroying his confidence in the process.

Jones & Rojo, jeez they deserve credit though for their great performances, especially yesterday. I really do like that partnership - the aggression, no-nonsense and passion you get from both of them is a delight to watch in this team. But at the same time you always feel like they may just cost you a goal at some point. Bailly has to come in over one of them as that guy is a beast, but right now it's hard to drop either of them as the partnership is working.

I think as T.O.D said Jose is starting to get his starting line up together now, I imagine it will be the same team again on Wednesday vs Palace. But obviously Mkhitaryan out and Mata in I think. Don't think he will want to change much of anything else. Personally I would take Darmian out and put Blind in, Spurs were getting real joy from that side, especially in the second half. It was pretty much their only attacking avenue that they kept using.

Yeah would do pretty much the same. Mky out Mata in then Blind at LB or Shaw if he's recovered but doubt it. It's good to see a settled side TBH. It's been like having whiplash over the last few season with the team.

He may or may not be sold in the summer, but while Fellaini is here, you keep his spirits up, and knit the team together.

Bastian may also not have a future, but it makes things easier bringing him back into the fold.

25 mins gone. Saints had better of the game. Gomes missed a sitter just. We've been very poor so far by our high standards. Good to see most the first team there watching and coaching staff.

0-0 HT. Lads looked nervous first 20 mins. But since Gomes missed the sitter we have been better, with Oconner hitting the bar. Very indesicive in the final third, which is costing us. Gomes having his worst game in a Utd shirt not helping. Gribbin, Bohui, Warren, OConner been class so far. Without Boonen or Chong we lack that pace and dribbling ability in the team to beat a man.

1-0 Utd Chong with a fantastic finish after coming on for Buffonge. Kenyon crosses it from LB, Chong Pulls it down some how swivels and shoots in one motion and riffled it into the top corner.

1-1 Oconner score a good finish for them. Poor defending from Whelan losing his man. We have been wasteful in the final third, which is really unlike this team.

**** 1-2 now. Absolute shocking! Our Midfield has completely disappeared last 5 mins. Really need a goal 5 mins to go. **** Bohui denied by a great save.

Gutted for the lads. Poor line up by Mc Kenna can't believe Chong and Boonen didn't start! They look devastated :( Just like most of our sides though, there's no real balance especially in CM. A lot of attacking and Defencive talent but nothing in the middle. Shocked we've gone out so early!

Gribbin despite being good since returning has upset the balance of the side. Him and Gomes always in each other's way. Boonen most probably one of our best and consistent players has been moved to the bench. Gomes moved out wide and Buffonge moved around everywhere, when he's been best in CM with Whelan. Really hope Gribbin goes up to the u23s from now on. He's good enough and developed enough physically and would help with the u23s lack of attacking force.

I really like this guys channel and this video he just posted is a good review of the Spurs victory.

Summing up his main points: -

Herrera most underrated player in Premier League this season.

Carrick is imperative to the team and we have won 9 drawn 2 when he plays.

Wanyama would be a good replacement for Carrick. (Personally I agree but I wouldn't go for him as he'll be very expensive and there is just as good alternatives. Plus he is not as good on the ball and in my opinion is a bit lacking in that department).

He needs to learn how to attack a football in the air. The free header he completely messed up for the equaliser Sunday was comically bad. I was glad he did like, but you got away with a massive one there.

Wanyama would be the worst replacement for Carrick, they are nothing a like. It's good to see Herrera get the credit he deserves this season, especially by the media and pundits. Been fantastic. That Dave blokes channel is good.

United are closing in on the signing of Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan, according to reports.

The 15-year-old striker has been scouted by leading clubs across Europe but United have won his signature.

Redan has a prolific goalscoring record for Ajax’s youth teams and is already playing for the Netherlands under-17 side.
He turns 16 in January and is believed to have decided that he would like to join United despite Ajax’s hopes to keep him in Amsterdam.

Henny De Regt, the former Ajax scout now working for United’s academy, is understood to have played an instrumental role in identifying Redan as a potential star.

United have been heavily scouting Holland in recent years to improve their academy, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah arriving from Ajax in 2014 and Tahith Chong from Feyenoord in July. And Millen Baars from Ajax in Ictober.

Fosu-Mensah, 18, has been training with the first-team and is a big part of manager Jose Mourinho’s plans despite playing only 149 minutes so far this season in all competitions.

Chong has been hugely impressive in United’s under-18 side and sources at the club say Nicky ****, the former player who is now head of coaching for the academy, is “very excited” by the Dutchman’s potential.
