The Manchester United Thread

Bit of early team news from the ever reliable MEN ;) Mata to replace Mky and Rashford over Martial. TFM on the bench with Schweinstiger.

What have you seen Anthony? His sporadic one off gametime here and there in the first team?

Jeez man, he's not overrated he is one of our best young prospects. But he needs two things: -

1) Some sustained playing time without appearing once here and there.

2) A constant position, none of this utility lark. I've been very impressed personally, done an effective job I've seem him in first team at RB and CB, shifting isn't easy.

I thought he was on about Pogba? (6).

Meh, I'm done with Anthony and Pogba. I mean he expects an 89m player every week when he clearly isn't that or even worth that. There are one or two who arguably are but that's not his fault. It is a mixture of our desperation to get him back and the current market.

Personally I'm quietly happy with Pogba, not enough where I'm going to shout at the rooftops but he's adapting slowly but surely. Putting in the types of performances that are making our midfield more effective and he will only get better with age anyway. Most people forget he is already like what 22/23?

I'd say my favourite Pogba performance was vs Arsenal so far, he literally dominated their midfield. You didn't hear any Arsenal fans banging on about him after that game that's for sure, they went suspiciously quiet. Probably realized how average their midfield is when they play against decent opposition.

Thought he was very good second half Sunday. I'm far from a regular Utd watcher but his performances of late seem a whole bunch better than those earlier in the year. So it's a bit churlish to say he's not improving. But the price tag carries it's own weight and rightly or wrongly, you don't get that grace. People, not least those paying the money, want instant, dominating performances. It just is what it is when such stupid mad money is on your head.

Still not sure how Tottenham didn't draw the game like. As happy as I was Utd won. Two very evenly matched teams bar the one standout player the 22 on show. Who scored the decisive goal. Still can't believe the 'Spurs lad managed to mess that header up SO bad. Dear Lord that was comical.

Agree with you man, Tottenham arguably deserved a point but to be honest apart from that header which was a glaring miss admittedly, they created very little if anything else.

I'm just hoping that was the bit of luck that has finally gone our way to make a springboard for our season to push on. We'll see tonight after Palace, they let in a ton so I'm confident, it's hard not to be when they have Pardew in charge.

Palace are a funny side aren't they? A real talented group of players that should be a cert. top 10 team. But one of the most schizophrenic teams around. Tonight could honestly go something like 4-1 to Utd. Or just as conceivably 3-1 to Palace. You just NEVER know what you're going to get from Palace this year. As yet another utterly mad game at Hull Sat'dy showed.

The talent they have, it's criminal they're struggling like they are. (See Pardew, Allan.). Dann's a genuinely very good player. Zaha is a terrific talent. Cabaye's a decent player. Benteke is worthy of a £32 million goalscorer tag IMHO. Puncheon links things very well. Souaré, when he's not injured, Tomkins, Dann and Ward, with Mandanda behind (luckily for you he's still out) is a pretty solid defence that's as good as anything that would be around them mid-table.

But they're so schizophrenic it's untrue. That Swansea game when they came back from 3-1 down, to lead 4-3. To then unbelievably throw it away again and lose 5-4! Man alive .....

This is a very tricky game for Utd. Palace are a real tough opposition at Selhurst. Said the same when L'pool went down there. I think Palace away could well be the game that Chelsea's winning run ends Sat'day dinner.

It just depends what Palace team you get on the night. I couldn't even begin to suggest a scoreline or likely winner for that very reason.

Lots of people around the wonderful, mad World of the 'net.

I believe He has improved slightly, but He still can't seem to get some of the basics right (to me, He's overrated by the Pogba fanboys).
If I had to choose between Him and Herrera on match day? Herrera all the way.

Anthony,im well aware of the differences between potential and current ability, playing fm for over 20 years has shown this :).maybe i worded it wrong but what i mean is people are expecting pogba to walk in and be some kind of machine fromk the off.hes a terrific player right now, bordering on world class and no doubt will be an OT legend.yes sometimes he tries to do too much but rather than the lvg philosophy of extreme caution at all times.no thanks

Oh God he's been overrated/ hyped ever since the first wind of him coming Utd the summer.

But an absolutely crazy mad price tag will do that.

take away the price tag and hes our best signing of the summer.I frigging love bailly and think he will be a beast but pogba has an aura and presence that weve lacked in midfield for years.plus herrera has played far more plremier league games than pogba so a little unfiar to compare. The price tag is irrelevant as to united its a drop in the ocean

I'm not overly confident about tonight (not even sure why), hope I'm wrong.

If you win at Selhurst that'll be a very good win. Real tough place to do that. Particularly under the lights.

But again, it's what Palace decide to turn up. And even then they have a great propensity to be a multitude of good and bad through a game. Completely schizophrenic side.

You could well see them beating both Utd and Chelsea the next two games at home.

And you can just as easily see them getting battered in both.

Mad, mad side to predict.

No doubt Palace will 'turn up' against us. Somehow we tend to struggle against Pardew sides, especially when we're away.
