The Manchester United Thread

A premonition.
Three blatant penalty kicks missed, two straight reds and one for 2nd yellow not given, offside goal for City given, Klopp sent to the stands for smiling too much.

You think you're half joking about him, wait until Mike Dean erupts the Derby into chaos tomorrow! Only the 3 red cards and 9 penalty kicks awarded from him so far this season!

Another absolutely scandalous referring appointment that wants shutting away in the same draw as Anthony Taylor when it comes to either L'pool or Manchester club. It's rightly been 10 years since he's officiated either L'pool or Everton, and he's only ever refereed either club once ..... so they decide to give a lad from the Wirral the biggest game for both clubs. GENIUS!

You seriously couldn't make this **** up if you tried.

Here's a controversial opinion. Jesse Lingard is the most talented youngster to come through United's opinion in a decade. The guy could become a prolific scorer if he learns how to finish. He understands space. His off the ball movement is excellent. He's a Raumdeuter just like Thomas Muller, Theo Walcott or now Cristiano Ronaldo. Going onto Ronaldo, his decline has been fascinating. He couldn't dribble past a bunch of Japanese farmers tonight in the club world cup. To be fair, they put up a good fight. I read an article full of more advanced analytics a while ago to show an evolution of his game. He's a complete Raumdeuter now (AKA wide poacher). Ronaldo doesn't have the acceleration of old and hardly gets involved with the game. If he isn't scoring, he can be a liability. He's now turned into a goal machine. His shot volume in the box is in the range of Kane's, Suarez's and Alexis' entire shot volume! He has a football brain and has turned to an absolute goal machine. He relies on his physique no more. I recommend How to Watch Football written by Ruud Gullit. 75% of football is off the ball. If Muller had no footballing brain, his technique would get him into the Bavarian Sunday league.

Is this the new regista for football hipsters? :)

Not really. Half the teams in Europe play with a regista in a 4-3-3. It's just is football is changing. Gone are the days with simple midfield destroyers. Xhaka, Weigl, Carrick, Motta, Verratti, Busquets, Kroos etc are all excellent pivots. They change the tempo of their passing to get their team out of the press. This is the type of player you need to win a champions league nowadays. Or, you need a ball carrier that can't be pressed Kampl, Thiago, Modric, Hamsik, Iniesta, 2011 Wilshere etc.

A raumdeuter is simply a wide poacher. The best in the world would be Ronaldo who has a great understanding of the game as well as being tremendous off the ball. Thomas Müller is an awful technical player but always end up in huge pockets of space at the end of attacking moves. Theo Walcott isn't understood by Hansen either. I can make a post later justifying their roles. It's more than just an a hipsters.

Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira is already in England to negotiate Lindelof with MUFC, according to @brunoandrd who broke today's story in Ojogo very reliable when comes to Benfica

Lots more reports in Sweden and Portugal saying Lindelof is a fine deal between 40-45m euros. Zlatan praise for him and recommendation must of been the final seal of approval.

Only seen him him a few times this season and last. Looks very good on the ball and great in the air. Still not the complete package yet, bit rash like Bailly at times. But his Reading of the game and making interceptions is very good. Benfica fans call him the Iceman as he never makes any bad decisions. And all speak very highly of him.

Victor Lindelof is practically with both feet out of Benfica and the destination is Manchester United of José Mourinho.

Luís Filipe Vieira was on Monday in England to finalize the agreement with the administration of the English club and, according to A BOLA, in the incarnated SAD is expected to enter a sum of 45 million euros by the central defender of 22 years - will become the most expensive transfer ever in the Light club.

the amount of the financial transaction may, however, rise to € 60 million, relating to premiums goals.

Nélson Semedo in negotiations

Besides Victor Lindelof, Manchester United and Benfica also talked about Nélson Semedo. But Luís Filipe Vieira is not willing to let another defender out than the Swedish international.

The clubs are already discussing the terms of an agreement that could be sealed in January, but with the commitment of the right-back to complete the current season in Luz.

On sky now! Initial £38 Million being reported.
Manchester United have held transfer talks with Benfica over Victor Lindelof | Football News | Sky Sports

Two very good signings if they go through. Semedo has been fantastic for Benfica this season both in defence and attack. And would solve our fb positions for years to come. Lindelof was Mou second choice after Bailly so he highly rated him and would have his first and second choice targets in that position :)

If there's one thing mourinho is good at, it's picking up superb CB prospects. If you look at his track record, you have Varane, zouma and bailly...all excellent buys.

Will this be a January deal or buying him January and letting him remain at Benfica until the end of season?

Buying in Jan if your talking linderlof and he will be joining us in Jan. Semedo who we are also in talks with from Benfica will be buying in Jan but signing in summer.

Thanks mate but isn't Semedo according to the article (maybe misread) staying at Benfica and they are not selling him? So they claim anyway at this point.

From what I can gather from Reading around and speaking to SLB fans they will be willing to negotiate a deal now, but only let him leave in the Summer as they don't want to lose both now as they are still in Europe.

From what I can make out, we can buy both but they wouldnt allow them both to leave at the same time. So Semedo would have to stay either on loan or agree a deal for in the summer.
