MOURINHO OFFERS MORE STARTING XI CLUES
Jose Mourinho has provided more clues to his team selection for Sunday's Emirates FA Cup fourth-round tie with Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford.
After already confirming Sergio Romero and Anthony Martial are set to be named in the starting line-up, the boss has suggested Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney will also feature in the XI. Both England internationals were on the bench for Thursday's EFL Cup encounter at Hull City, with skipper Rooney coming on in the second half.
The manager was also asked about Bastian Schweinsteiger's possible involvement against Warren Joyce's Championship side, as the Reds look to follow up clinching a place at Wembley in the EFL Cup final next month with a smooth passage into the fifth round of a competition won last May.
"I play Romero, I play Shaw," Mourinho told the press. "I play Anthony Martial, I play Wayne Rooney.
"I played Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard [at Hull]. In the game before, I played Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. In the next match, I will play Martial. They have to fight and win positions in relation to their performances.
"I have to read the situation and decide [about Schweinsteiger]. We don't have many midfield players - I played three [on Thursday]. Marouane Fellaini was on the bench and Basti stayed in Manchester so, normally, he comes into the squad."
