The new manager will have a great player! The biggest mistake United made was missing out on Sampaoli. Mourinho won't last another whole season imo though it's amazing what individual quality can do. Individual quality won Zidane the Champions League. RM play like a 2001 premier league team.

That's where'd I'd distinguish between Pep/ Klopp and Mourinho. Coaching and managing. The first two are far better coaches. But you can't take away what Mourinho has achieved in the trophy stakes.

Poor positional structure means that Premier League teams are heavily reliant on individual quality when attacking. As a result, they struggle with any compact side. An example being Hull vs United tonight.

Defensive transitions in the premier league is embarrassing. Too many joke goals week in week out. They're so so slow. Kante, Mahrez and Vardy were monsters on the transition and perfectly suited to exposing **** premier league sides. I've even written about Arsenal's slow transitions before.

The matches in some games become so bad that it can be a liability keeping the ball. For example, Arsenal vs Liverpool at the start of the season. So many tactical flaws that we looked like a liability with the ball. Every time we lost out to the Liverpool press, they looked like they would score. Contrast that to 2 teams that transition well. Leverkusen vs Tottenham in the Champions League was an elite match. Great tactical battle between two teams that transition efficiently in their own ways.

Top prem teams were smart enough to sack their **** managers barring Arsenal and replace them. As the new managers come in, it will require more than compactness. Claude Puel is one that's flown under the radar. Top coach.

So why does liverpool struggle with compact teams then? You know, since jurgen klopp is such a tactical innovator?

They don't. They're the top scorers in the league. They've been destroying deep blocks all season. Liverpool's issue is individual quality. Positional play is designed to get a team into the final third. From then, creativity is mostly down to a player's own tuition. Liverpool have great coaching but are let down by individual quality. Mane was a huge loss. Incredible decision making and gets in half-spaces. They don't have the depth of other sides either.
 
Don't hang on to sentimentality United fans. Since Arsenal last won the league, Wenger has earned approx. £110,500,000 and a possible contract extension is on the verge of turning me into an alcoholic.

We just can't keep on replacing managers. If mourinho doesn't work out then we have to take a long, hard look at ourselves.

We only have one CB worthy of a first team spot. A keeper who throws more balls into the net than he saves and one FB who is being carried by Mane with a Midfielder playing leftback. Until Klopp gets he's desired personal in the summer, the defence will continue to be an issue this season.

Fergie actually had to quote Wenger's salary to David Gill in negotiations. The amount of money he's been paid for failure is crazy. Always will be a club legend but sad to see him ruin his legacy. I can't believe the board offered him an extension in October. I hope he doesn't sign off the back of a 3 game winnin run vs relegation fodder but I feel he'll leave of his own intuition at the end of the season.
 
Okay Damola, what do we do, sack Mourinho? It'll just create even more instability. This is our 3rd manager since Fergie FFS.

What? If mourinho doesn't workout, sack him. I already think he's absolutely finished. You can keep replcaing managers. Its a myth that we can't. Chelsea, bayern, barcelona, madrid. They all keep doing it and they are having so much success.

Having had a quick look through, i noticed one line saying that very few people can coach Juego de Posicion. So im guessing its very complex. Would anybody be able to create a tactic in football manager around this philosophy or is the current ME nowhere near advanced enough?

Not impossible. You can mimmick it in possession to an extent but there are many complexities that are lightyears ahead of the current ME. I'd say that the current ME I'd say is pretty good. Big improvement on last year. Biggest being efficient use of the half-spaces.

Random question, I know there was a performance we had under LVG that you praised 3 years ago...it was the anfield performance with mata's bicycle kick winner. Was it the structural performance that impressed you the most?
