The Manchester United Thread

How is it a strange idea? Don't you feel there is something terribly unfair when you have clubs competing against one another with suh a huge gulf in quality and resources between them? We can't do anything about it in league competitions but at least for a European competition we should.

Also I never said the line is arbitrary. I have no idea what the cut-off should be but if Sevilla are above it then so be it. I am okay with thay.
Yes there is something a bit unfair about it but it is professional sport not some nine year olds and one reason people watch is for big upsets, and if you ban bigger teams that the teams that win it would likely be winners of smaller leagues like Ajax who can get into the champions league by winning the league or finishing second like they have done the last couple of years

You guys are assuming smaller clubs have a problem with playing against the big sharks in Europa League, but it's quite the opposite. Everyone loves running into the likes of United in those competitions. The clubs love it because it means advertising and ticket $$$$$$$$$, and players love it because it's a chance unlike any other to show their value and perhaps move higher in the food chain.

Well, a real opportunity to capitalise on those above us today yet again, with Arsenal yesterday and Liverpool/City inevitably dropping points as well.

Add in to the mixture that this is an uncertain time to play Middlesborough as there will undobutedly be a reaction, but we have a real opportunity today, but so many times we have been in this position and dropped silly points. So I'm not too confident, we need to score early to open the game up.

Not filled with confidence from that 11, going with that Chelsea like formation once again I see too.

Would much rather drop a central defender for Mkhitaryan behind Rashford.

Nevertheless, come on United!!

Only thing that gives me a bit of comfort is the couple of match winners we have on the bench if needed.

More than happy with that team. Should be enough to beat Boro. Don't mind 3 at the back obviously with a few better players for the system, but still confident. Mky not fit to start apparently.

Well I hope we've grown fluent at it very fast, because in both legs against Rostov using it we were pretty poor (professional, solid, but overall quite lacklustre).

Think the first leg against Rostov can't judge from that pitch tbh.

Jeez, that starting 11 leaves a lot to be desired, relying a lot on Mata for creativity, apart from that I don't see much Boro have to fear other than Rashford but even he needs good service.

hope im wrong but can see a 0-0 or 1-1 draw today.like we need another one

if im honest im not matas biggest fan so will need something from him today

As the BT coverage already alluded to, it seems we're actually shaping up in an unconventional 4-3-2-1 (Valencia right midfield, Bailly RB, Mata behind Rashford)

Been really impressed with Rashford lately in the lone #9 role. Good against Chelsea, really good today.
