The Manchester United Thread

When you look at forward players United have available - Rooney, Martial, Lingard, Miki, Young and Rashford - none of them are technical geniuses or world beaters, but the one thing they have in common, is they're all work horses. Whatever combination of players you create out of that, you will have very industrious front three. They will all help defend, and in attack they may not be dribbling past 5 players, but they will make themselves available for pass and try to make things happen.

And maybe that's what you need to do really. I mean when your central midfield always consists of two brilliant passers of Herrera(Carrick)/Pogba, maybe what you need to do is to just give them options upfront and the goals will come, instead of having them feed Zlatan for 90 minutes and pray for a moment of magic.

Whatever the explanation, it certainly seems like a transformed team, although we'll see how long it lasts.

No way of cutting it Peps been a major flop this season! And like I said before he joined City I'm not convinced he's the man to be successful there. Without having the a team full of the best players in world football. Time will tell but i don't think he will be the dominant force pundits were expecting/ certain he would be.

For me Mourinho will always be better at getting a team to play above its level than Pep. Mourinho can get a team to play well with good players. Pep needs the top quality players to need to perform.

Agree with most the sentiment of the post, but I think you're definitely doing Martial and in particular Mkhitaryan an injustice by saying that haha. Martial is one of the best young wide forwards in Europe (just been off it/questionably handled this season), and Mkhitaryan is world class, both highly technical.

But I get what you're saying, Zlatan can be a little one dimensional. But a brilliant dimension all the same.

crucial dropped points for pool,up to us to take advantage and secure that CL spot.come on boys

can anyone else hear mourinhos mind ticking, plotting his master plan for city

Did you just seriously write that la?

Mourinho is the very definition of a 'cheque book manager.' He's the only manager in history who's totalled over £1 BILLION in player buys. You've said on countless occasions this year 'wait until Jose has his own squad', with your big want another ridiculous massive money outlay on Greizmann. That's on top of the £150 plus million spent his first summer window, breaking a World record transfer fee in the process, with Utd going into the season with the most expensively assembled squad in World football.

Mock Guardiola all you like as the other club the City winning nothing this year/ his first ever year with no silverware as a manager. Talk about Pep being over hyped to your hearts content.

But suggesting Pep can only achieve success with top players whilst the guy you're putting him up against has made a career after Porto of only moving to situations where he can outspend the rest of the league is a ridiculous thing to say.

I never said Mourinho has never spent money! But least he can get the best out of decent players. Pep on the other hand this season has not far from it tbh.

its like comparing ronaldo v messi, both world class legends in the game but have very different characters.pep and jose have contrasting ways of setting up a team.different philosophies absolutely but i cant see how we can say one is better than the other when there are so many factors involved.

City do have the most talented team in the league.

TBH I can agree with that. But least we've made some serious progress this year. City have gone backwards imo. Even a lot of there own fans are saying the same.

I think offensively City look great at times, but defensively.. not so much!
I'm sure that Pep with a summer window will make City a very dangerous team overall, as he always does with great teams

do you think we should view a draw thursday as a good result, especially given that liverpool dropped points?

Who's faults that though!? He signed those defenders and GK. He spent 180m and have gone backwards imo. Plus City new Pep was coming for ages, looks like bad planning or poor management/decision making to me.
