The Manchester United Thread

Looks like the end of Rooney if James is true. Apparently Adidas want to do a big marketing campaign with James in the number 10 shirt. Your not going to bring a player in and take the number off your captain so he's surely going. Unless they give James the 7.

I won't mind James if we do the business that actually has to be done this summer that everyone knows about. Striker, CB, CDM definitely, winger and LB would also be nice.

But to my mind, when you're spending this much on a player, it's going to be sacrificing our business that we have to do elsewhere this summer.

This move is where we are strongest in the team, Mata, Mkhi, Pereira, the list goes on.

Involved in a marketing campaign to sign a player we don't really need, not impressed if it happens and we don't do the business we actually need this summer.

Saying that, Rooney has hardly been the captain this year has he. Not on the pitch anyway.

(Whats this wait 180 seconds between posts **** all about? 3 minutes? Yet every morning I log in and the site is spammed with **** threads that take hours to get deleted so I have to put the creator on ignore to get rid of them?)

Yeh, im not sure how much say Adidas actually have on purchases but it does seem a signing more geared towards them making a shed load of money through marketing rather than what is important for the team. Dont get me wrong he's a top player, but I'd rather leave that space in the squad for Pereira. We are going to have James, Mata, Miki and Pereira that are all more suited to playing central, and wingers that offer no natural width. Martal and Lingard both like to drift in off either side. Wouldnt mind TFM being a more defensive replacement for Fellaini in the squad but we ideally need a player that also has the range of passing as Carrick. Not sure on the plans for Blind that could do that job, but after this season it looks like Herrera is Carricks long term replacement which is great.

We have Mata/Pereira etc. who can play the role he will do, depending on if he is used as more of a no.10.

We need a striker to get on the end of chances, a proper goalscorer is what we lack, not someone like him.

Our team has most quality in the positions Rodriguez plays.
Think Periera will play deeper under Mourinho. Remember him saying how impressed he was in the couple of games he played there.

Are we on a reduced rate of sponsorship at the moment because of no CL or does it only go down if we fail to qualify this season?

If we miss out this season the sponsorship starts to decrease, which makes the EL Final all that more important.

Zidane has said today. There is nothing to debate with regarding James future. We have 3 games till end of season. His future is already been decided.

Also Fox Sport and BeiN Soirts reporting deal agreed for 4 years.

I can't see Pereira get more playtime than like Mensah and Tuanzebe did this season, unless we get rid of like Mata or Martial or whatever?

And how can people not see James as a good signing??

Already this season with 1800' minutes played he has 11 goals and 13 assist

And overall he has 36 goals 41 assist in 110 games for Real Madrid

And he can play Left, Right and Centre

Isn't this what we've lacked this season? Goals and Assists? apart from Zlatan obviously..

If Mata stays I'd find that a scary looking bunch to go against - Rodriguez - Mata - Mkhitaryan. There's goals and assists for fun in there, if very narrow.

Get Lacazette or someone up top and that's a **** of an attack

In a Mourinho system, it's way less scary than on paper.

Metal Mickey was being hailed as the answer in here last summer after his blistering year for Dortmund.

Theres a big big difference with Pereira compared to those 2 you mentioned. He's way ahead in terms of ability and his development. And now has very good first team experience at the top level. If his constant communication with Mourinho is anything to go buy he will defo feature a fair bit next season. Mourinho has been very impressed with his form this season. As has the Spanish media. And his performances have been very good against the top 3 in La Liga. Watched him make Modric and Kroos look silly a few times.

Hmmm yeah see what you mean, think Mkhitaryan will be better next season though.

On paper it's a dangerous bunch at least haha

(would be fun on FM, though not for you ;) )

Tbh I was delighted we signed him. But at the same time knew he would need a good settling period, he's not a good settler after a move. He's shown quality this season now needs consistency.

Thats all well and good on paper but this is Madrid we're talking about. They hammer everyone every week. I bet I could get 10 goals and 10 assists in that team and that would be classed as good in the Premiership. Look at Miki. Goals and assists off the charts in Germany. Things need to be put into perspective.

Switch him for Martial or whomever else you like.

Point being they're all way more stifled under Mourinho than they would be elsewhere to Joes point about it being a scary looking attack.

Asking flair players to play that way is all fine when results are going well. But for argument's sake, Utd don't win the Europa. 6th place and Europa League footie again makes it even less attractive a proposition for that type of player to buy into working back for the team.
