LMA have decided to name their manager of the year award after Sir Alex Ferguson

Mark ******* Robbins! You probaby don't remember. ****, you might not have even been born. But Ferguson was done if Utd had lost the third round Cup tie at Forest back in 1990. Everyone knew it. The BBC MOTD Live Sunday game from the City Ground was all over it. Every news outlet at the time was all over it. Utd fans were clamouring for his head. Another season ending in nothing, with Utd battling relegation going into the game, and he'd of been sacked before the TV cameras had packed up.

But Robbins scores the winner and saves the season. Utd go on to win the Cup. And it all fell into place from there.

Marginal moments that could have changed it all.

You teach em Granpa!

Loved the "shoots" shouts when Gomes was in possesion. Youngest ever PL player.

Absolute ******* class by Lingard. Spoke to FTD then went into hotel football and put a load of cash behind the bar for the fans. Then did a fan can also :)

CL still ***** all over Europa for me Scouse, no matter how you dress it up.

Yes you can get some great trips, but for every great trip you could equally get an utter ***** one like Israel, Russia or god knows else where some minnow club comes from.

Yeah, as a competition it naturally does. There's no higher level of football anywhere. ****** all over even the WC in that regard for me.

But most of it is repetitive, boring ***** going to the same places year-on-year. For as much as people decry the Europa there's some absolute gem trips in there. Madrid, Barcelona, Munich. They all have their place of course. But give me a trip like Myoa47 way back when in the middle of a Finish forest where there wasn't even a proper road to the ground! Or Spartak Vladikavkaz in war-torn Chechnya, being escorted in by Russian Migs either side the plane as there were only 37 of us went and only one plane full of players, fans and press. You've not lived until you've been bevvying it flanked by Russian army guys watching missiles fly through the air in the distance! lol. That no-mark Finish side who's name escapes me that had a frigging Ski jump the ground and a mate so head over heals with a native holding up the flight home trying to blag her on the plane getting as far as the gate! I could go on and on but the point is small clubs in small places you'd never normally dream of going to are often WAY better than going the Bernabeau or San Siro.

Recent example was last year. I've been exceptionally lucky to of seen L'pool live in 4 European Cup finals (or not in 1985 with those horrors), 2 UEFA Cup finals and 2 Super Cup's. Been doing Euro aways on a regular basis since we got back in after the ban. (The ban coming at just the wrong time in my teenage years going the match.). And honestly, if we'd beaten Sevilla, last year would of been the most enjoyable campaign by a Country mile. 2005 included. It just got better and better every round. From the first game Bordeaux, which started in a gorgeous little French town Bergerac, with a tractor pulling the plane and a makeshift cattle shed as passi control amongst other moments of absolute hilarity amidst brilliant French wine those three days. Through the one trip I missed, Kazan, which has lead to some boss tales in a real friendly Russian town. Who also happens to hate Moscow and the rest of Russia which helps. Onto Switzerland at Christmas time through Zurich, to the most picture perfect cabin in a tiny little alpine village Conthey just outside Sion, then a great night in Geneva on the way home. Onto Germany and a great little place in Augsburg (although where ISN'T great in Bavaria?), and blagging our way into a civil reception dinner for the team before Ian Ayre ruined our fun! With an awesome night in Munich the way home. Not that these aren't CL-esq but walloping you lads all over in front of the rest of Europe and then the mutual Klopp love-in with our mates in Dortmund through to Villareal and stopping the best place in Spain, Valencia, a short train ride away. Then back to Switzerland for the final in Basle.

Put that all together with more or less each trip topping the last, and I've honestly never had as much fun through a European campaign as last year's Europa run. With the added bonus of altering things slightly in our itinerary and going out the day of games on the Thursday, allowing us a hassle free and quiet Friday and Saturday when most had gone home to explore and write some brilliant tales into the memory.

Just to make you feel old not only was I not born when that happened but pretty sure my parents hadn't even met each other when it happened. Heard about it and seen some things about, who knows what would have happened if he hadn't grabbed that goal

Haha. Well, there was the legendary 5-1 walloping at Maine Road around that time City's first year back up that was stopped two or three times with the aggro the Utd lads that had gone in the Kippax (Good God Maine Road used to be 'fun' with the all the jiggers like rabbit warrens all around it. NOT! But this is a family show) ..... But then there's probably only you wants to relive that one so we'll spare them!

And you don't deserve to Lord it over them after what you did at Watford earlier so do one! :P.

Maine Road is a school now (i live 2 streets over) - miss that ground.

I had hoped they'd of at least 'try' to make a hard game of it and not be completely on the beach!

A school? Lol, changed times. Maine Road was always weird. You never knew what you were gonna' get. Sometimes you'd go and it would be 'relatively' peaceful. Other times, absolute carnage. Whereas at Utd you always knew it was gonna' be bedlam and all out war all day long from the moment you got off the train Piccadilly. City was just a strictly L'pool/ Manchester thing. Utd was fuelled by jealousy. Their outright jealousy to us winning everything. Our jealousy that we could never beat them as ***** as they were the games we played. Coming to a head in the most violent two football games I think there's ever been here the '85 Cup semi. Utd getting leathered all over with Everton teaming up with us Goodison the Sat'day. Utd getting their revenge the Wednesday Maine Road replay with City out the streets going at everyone! One of those times when you're actually happy to be just a little too young to of been allowed to go either game lol.

But yeah, for all its 'craziness' at times, I loved Maine Road. Moss Side was a s/hole like back then but that was a proper football ground. Unlike the sterile athletics stadium you're now at.

We shoulda had 9 at least. Silva & KDB walked about stringing passes into Sane/Jesus allday.

moss side it was the late 90s that me and a few mates went to ot to see barnsley in a fa cup tie stop off in a pub in moss side at the time no 1 told me it was moss side and i think it was a ira pub very strange no bother like but some random guy came in asking if we wanted to buy gold chains we said no thank he looked round a got a look from a guy at the bar and was out of the pub like a shot very strange day but no bother

Tuanzebe played like a veteran today. So composed good passing and played a more responsible game when Pogba went off. This lads got it all. Gomes with a nice little cameo :) McTominey defo won't make it here, could be a good Championship level player. Mitchell and Harrop have the ability to make it. Harrop needs a loan next season and at a good level. And Mitchell needs to stay and develop the defencive side of his game and stay injury free for a season.

Also watch out for Periera in goal will be Utds No2 in the near future! Gomes future Utd star ;)

Mctominey has that Darren Fletcher-average thing about him. Hard worker but average...perhaps he could play well above his talent in a few years?

Yeah defo a bit of the Fletcher about him. Could be a late developer. So far doesnt have Fletcher passing or end product or composure. Never know but I will be surprised if he makes it. There's loads ahead of him ability wise.

Keylor Navas said after tonight's match. I have no intentions of leaving I have 3 years left on my contract. I'm happy, the manager and the board are happy. I will fight to win things for Madrid.

For anyone who remembers just how fat that useless waste of space got at Utd, that's a humorous tweet for a Monday morning.

That John Terry substitution is stomach churning & vomit inducing. That said, it still took less time than Neil Webb's last substitution.

Job done. Good performance. Onwards to Stockholm. In a final where anything can happen, I fancy us slight favourites. Pogba, Rashford and Herrera all fit. Mata is back. Would have been great to have Bailly but c'est la vie. Win this and it will be a pretty good season overall

Fat is one thing. Useless is bollocks. Considering he snapped a tendon, he did well to still play 70 odd games, with all the quality he was then up against. Still remember that pass to Martin, laser guided foot

A tad harsh admittedly but he never lived up to anything like the money spent on him at Utd from the player he was bought on at Forest.
