The Manchester United Thread

Tbh I'd open my arms to bring Bakoyoko in... he's not exactly what we need.. as we particularly need a DM. But our midfield options are somewhat lacking in depth anyway, if Herrera/ Pogba get an injury, who are we turning to?

No one say Pereira, the kids a massive talent, but he's far from a box to box midfielder.

Just seen the latest figures on Perisic... I know it's not my money.. but £48m on him is absolutely ridiculous. Shocked he is our best option for that price. Rather take a punt on someone else and pay a little less, Perisic's end product is lacking anyway, which is exactly what we need, good service to Lukaku. Not inconsistency and another Nani.

Disappointed we wasn't in for Douglas Costa, not much cheaper but he has got a few more years on his side. Perisic being 28 nearly 29, can't see us having many seasons out of him, at his best anyway. Probably 3/4 if we're lucky.

Good job the window is still open then and no reason to panic! No point going for Bakayoko anyway he's gonna miss the first 3-4 weeks of the season.

If januazj meets all his add ons he will become the tenth most expensive player sold by the club

Basically what I do on FM! I've got Gribbin in my squad in 2024, basically played 25 games in the last 4 years but is worth nearly 40 million, really don't understand how that works!

Will be interesting to see if Januzaj ever lives up close to his early hype

Perisic was way better and more consistent than Costa at Bayern. And he's exactly what the squad needs.

I'd have gone for any of Rodriguez, Costa or Bernardo Silva over Perisic for that kind of money tbh

still a few reports saying matic wants to join jose also that naingollan is a target but but cant see either happening

James and Silva aren't natural wingers and prefer playing on the right. And Costa was bang average at Bayern bar from a couple of wonder goals. Perisic offers us something we lack and that's a natural 2 footed player that will keep the width. And give Martial a chance to get his form back on the left.

Look i just don't want you giving Inter 50 million ok? ;)

TBH Peresic doesn't really keep width, he loves to cut inside a **** of a lot, takes a lottttttt of shots to score when other options are available

IF Mourinho really wants him as is reported we will sign him. Chelsea now have Bakayoko, which is apparently the main reason we haven't signed Matic already. He wants to leave as he won't be a starter and Conte and the club would let him go for a decent fee. Naingollan will tough, but maybe we really offer him a package to tempt him. There's a reason it's taken nearly 1 season to sort out his new contract. Will know more at the weekend.

Yeah I've seen him cut inside a fair bit. But unlike Martial he can offer going on the outside.

Then he can't cross... very well... his crossing is average and that's being rather generous.
His crossing isn't average at all if he had team mates that were any good except from Icardi he would have had a lot more assists from high and low crosses!

How? They play in the same position. Martial needs a consistent run of games like 2015/16, not another limbo season.

Something I'm hoping Mourinho will trust to give him once he sorts out DM and possibly another FB. Less tracking back, and more shackles off him

i think martial is far too predictable on the left.If he goes wide it fizzles out as he has no left peg and when he darts inside, which he can be very effective at,the opposition are ready for that as it what he does naturally.I just feel martial needs to work on his game if hes to succedd here.Perisisc is less predictable imo

Martial does like to cut in on his stronger foot, but name me a wrong-sided winger that doesn't? Can we all stop pretending that he can't go on the outside, it's a myth.

Here are some examples from his debut season alone...

Cant see that tbh. There's a reason Mourinho really wants Peresic. Think he and Martial will share the load pretty even this season.

I'll lay good money Joseph has seen him less outside of cut-ups than most.

But that wouldn't do for following's sake.
