The Manchester United Thread

Should go for someone from PSG, considering how much they're spunking on M'Bappe and Neymar, they must want to get rid of at least one or two?
The only players there willing to let go are Matuidi, Aurier and that Polish CM according to Bouhafsi. No attacking players.

If he goes to Real, Aurier to Utd, PSG is left only with Dani Alves at RB

Notícias ao Minuto, via Agência Lusa, has just released a story in which the Portuguese club’s communications director António José Leite confirms the transfer is on the verge of being done.

The player is expected to join Manchester United’s U23 squad initially. For Oliveirense, he only played four professional matches, all in the Portuguese second division.

Speaking to Agência Lusa, António José Leite said:

“He had been promoted to the main squad but the scouting was already alert and decided to take him there. At this time the business is 90% done and he may have an excellent contract ahead. The contract will shortly be announced, but he is a future bet at United.”

Leite was also asked how much money the Portuguese club will get: “We’ll receive training rights, because he’s always been trained here, although in monetary terms it may not be more than that because there may be other exchanges. These details are not yet defined. But the training rights and future sales of the player are guaranteed gains.”

This is a clear result of Manchester United’s scouting in Portugal, which has been much more intense since the arrival of José Mourinho at the club.

As we pointed out in a story on Thursday, Manchester United haven’t only been watching big clubs such as Benfica, Porto and Sporting. The club constantly send scouts to minor games, probably trying to get the local talents before the big Portuguese sides take them and slap huge buyout clauses in contracts.

It's a complete non transfer as far as I'm concerned. We've packed out the academy as it is.

Our first game of the season, West Ham at Old trafford on Sunday. Whilst no opening game can truly define a season, I can't help but think that this will give us a very strong indication as to how our season will go. So many times we slipped up in these tricky banana skin type matches and dropped countless point which effectively cost us of being anywhere near Chelsea.

This season we need that consistency against teams like West Ham, especially at home as our away form was good. My confidence has been drained a bit and I feel we have shown some of the same weaknesses against Madrid as we did from last season. Especially in that A lot of our players who we are relying on this season to chip in with more goals, missed chances in our last game that was eerily similar the season before. Not to mention our defending, which for their 2nd goal I thought was very poor. An easy one-two and we were unlocked.

However I'm hoping they can restore my confidence again on Sunday with a win, with the likes of Lukaku and Martial starting. Lets not make any stupid decisions that could cost us. Like starting Lingard and wondering why we are lacking quality in the final third. The only reason Martial wasn't playing on Tuesday I'm hoping was to be rested for this game.

My line up: -

De Gea

Darmian
Lindelof
Bailly
Valencia

Pogba
Matic
Herrera

Martial
Lukaku
Mkhitaryan

None of that 3 at the back bollox, keep it to formations we are used to and don't over complicate things.

Hoping for something like this, torn between Rashford or Martial on the left wing.. But honestly could see Fellaini play with Pogba and Matic in midfield, cause West Ham.. :(

Oh god... don't bring that possibility up!

Tbf to Fellaini he is a great impact player, much better off the bench. Start with Herrera though, despite his very timid display against Madrid.

Agree, just a thought since it's West Ham. :'(

I know we've bought lindelof for a big fee but sure why everyone is thinking he's gonna be starting games. He's done nothing in pre season to think he's going in the team west ham or not. Surely off games so far the back 2 that are fit and played the best are Bailly and Jones. First game is key and need to get off with a win. Start off with players in form. Got a league cup game coming soon. Start lindelof in that. But going off pre season, he shouldn't be starting games yet.

I personally think mou will give him the Mhkitaryan treatment. He'll slowly ease him into the lineup
