Fair point, I think it's more the fact that when you see other title challengers romping teams of a similar stature, it's hard to be that impressed with a narrow 1-0 victory, which we held on by the skin of our teeth.

I'm still unsure where I think we are in terms of title challengers, I mean I still expect us to mount a challenge, but it's really hard to look past City and Chelsea at this point.

We've scored 5 more goals than Chelsea. Only City have scored more than us. And both Manchester sides have concedded just 2 goals. Doing just fine

Saints-

2 tame shot from 20yrd out Redmond/Davies
1 shot off target in the box Romeu just wide
1 header off target miles wide Long
1 shot from 23yrds out blazed miles over Davies
7 incomplete crosses 2 of which were corners
1 incomplete freekick from 42yrds our Prowse

Utd- 2 clear cut chances
3 incomplete crosses

Watched the 2nd half of the match three times today and this is all Saints created. Not necessarily people on here, but I don’t get the notion we were hanging on for dear life comes from. It’s not like they were peppering us with crosses or DDG was making world class saves or even defenders making last ditch tackles. Just Saints dominating possession. Controlled defensively out of possession in a low block!

A few reporting that Utd are confident that DDG will sign a new long term contract and the player is very happy with Utd and Mourinho (6) now just need news about Herrera, Juan, Gomes. Think Herrera has the option of an extra year anyway. But club should get him tied down. Gomes Farther has confirmed talks are all but done and the contract will be signed, and rubbished talks of him leaving. Hope Mata stays great little player. Think Blind and Young also have that extra year option also. Tbh wouldn’t mind if Blind, Young left next summer. Same goes for Carrick. Will see how Zlatan does when he returns to see if he should get another year. Sam Johnstone should be gone.

Few reports saying that Fellaini, Carrick, Valencia, Jones not at the airport with the travelling squad. McTominey was.

Just watched extended highlights of the u18s match with Newcastle that finished a draw. God knows how had about 12 really really good chances. They had 2. Pugimal was fantastic on his debut and his freekick was as good as any I’ve seen at any level. Looks a real talent ran the show.

What a complete farce with Barry "beating" appearance record despite actually having 40 less games than Giggs.

Lol, let him have it. Just a poor man's Barry from Eastenders.

The Times reporting the three strikers, led by Lukaku, are staying behind after training to work on their finishing amongst other things.

“[Lukaku] has been an absolute diamond since he has arrived at the club.

“He has taken upon himself to work with the other young lads. They are regularly staying behind for hours.

“The three of them are working on a number of things, runs, shooting, the cohesion and so on"

"Jose has been very impressed by the lengths they are all willing to go to. It has been a great start for Romelu at the club."

“Romelu is young himself, so there is a real camaraderie between the three of them. It’s great to see.”

Sorry it doesn't fit in with the constant Caf narrative that Martial wants out, Lukaku is a lazy **** and Rashford is *****.

I think we have a good little squad building. Similar ages, characters and talent. Good times ahead.

[h=1]Team news ahead of CSKA Moscow clash[/h] Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini will both miss Wednesday's Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow as the pair join fellow midfielder Paul Pogba on the sidelines.
Jose Mourinho confirmed the duo will not be available for the Group A game at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo also remain sidelined as they continue their recoveries from long-term injuries.
"I won't have Fellaini, I won't have Pogba, we won't have Carrick, so all three midfield players that we lose for this match," the boss told reporters. "So there are not many solutions, but we try not to focus on individual battles or in specific areas on the pitch. We try to focus on the globality [team as a whole] and we are going to have a team with quality, with balance, to try to win the match which is our objective."
Fellaini is also set to miss the weekend meeting with Crystal Palace in the Premier League after being hurt in a challenge from behind by Shane Long at Southampton.
"It was only when I saw it on TV that I realised that Fellaini was very lucky [not to have a serious injury]," added the boss. "I do not expect him to be out for long."
Mourinho reflected on his past meetings with CSKA Moscow and believes Wednesday's match will be the strongest CSKA side he has faced in his career.
"I play against CSKA with Real Madrid, with Inter, with Chelsea and now with Manchester United, so it's something normal in my Champions League career," he explained. "To be honest, I always like to be back because it [Moscow] is a beautiful city. Every time I come it's better and better and better so I have to say that it's a pleasure.
"Opponents wise, I think it's the best CSKA that I'm going to play against. I think it's the best team that I face with CSKA as an opponent."

U19s won 1-2 Gomes scoring the winner after they equalised midway through second half. Now sit top of our group. Let’s hope the first team can follow suit later(6)

I had both to score as part of my bet. Got lucky with that. Along with Chelsea U-19's. Hope the other 11 games come in haha
