The Manchester United Thread

I'm not even looking into yesterday too much tbh. Two catastrophic individual errors saw a team that'll likely be fighting relegation, score, and subsequently parked 2 buses and defended like warriors.

How often do you see a Mourinho team completely exposed in defensive situations like that first goal? It's a rarity.

If anything, I'm quietly happy to see us break them for Rashford's goal, given the trouble we had breaking down deep blocks last season - and that was as deep and as dogged as they come.

Quite happy to give it a "one of those days" tag - so long as that doesn't get used more than once, like last season.

TOD- what's up with Angel Gomes lately? The not signing a contract nonsense, now he's behaving really oddly on Twitter.

He deleted the "Manchester United player" from his description/bio, and he's liking weird tweets like:

"@agomes_47 hey man please go play first team asap like sancho. Dont wait around. I hope English culture can understand a player like you"

and

"If young players are good enough give them a chance to shine, no excuses!!!

etc.

Don't tell me we're getting a Pogba repeat.

Last I heard from a couple of people who know his dad, who watches games live often. Is that a deal is been discussed and will likely be signed. His Farther who is also his agent rubbished talks of moves away. And said he and his family are happy in Manchester.

Most probably liked the tweet about Sancho as they are very close friends and he’s happy for him. I’m hopefully gonna get to a few more games soon. So will keep a ear open.

Not sure mate, it's all a bit odd. That Musonda bloke at Chelsea done something similar too lately I think, but obviously Angel's being a little more subtle about it.

This is the most hilarious attempt to put a spin on things that I have ever seen.

Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes still dreams of playing for the Reds despite interest from Barcelona, according to his father.

The 16-year-old has turned heads after becoming the youngest Red in 15 years to score a hat trick for the club's academy.

As captain of England's under-17s, Gomes was also part of the Young Lions side which thrashed Germany 8-1 last month.

Despite being linked with a move to Barcelona, the teenager's father, Gil Gomes, insists his son is focused on making the breakthrough at Old Trafford .

"The important thing is that Angel continues to have all this pleasure in playing football," he told A Bola.

"I don't deny that many clubs ask me about him, but that's what he always says...the next dream is to play for Manchester United's first team, a club where he has been growing."

Thats from last November... lol

Yep. Did an interview on MUTV after he won the u18s player award last season. Saying how happy he was in Manchester. And was delighted to make his first team debut. And is only concentrating on improving and playing for Utd again in the future. Can’t see him leaving personally.

I don't know the story, but if the kid's throwing the toys out of the pram because he's not getting first team football at 17 years old and not even fully grown, then he needs a reality check.

Maybe he asked for some league cup minutes and refused? I'd maybe give him some mins off the bench Tuesday, but that'd be the height of it.

There’s a video on FTD with Tony Parks who is Utd youth historian. And is always at the games and knows his Farther. And he’s says he’s absolutely nothing like that. The opposite Infact. When I’ve seen him live at games he actually quite reserved and quite on and of the pitch. Plus Gomes himself is always posting vids and tweets about of him growing up and loving we’re he grew up in Manchester.

Was talk end end of last year that he would likely get promoted to the u23s middle of this season.

Seriously hope those rumours are true and he winds up at Utd FWIW.

But more importantly, Koeman MUST stay!

How come? I'm not his biggest fan either, his workrate leaves a bit to be desired to say the least, but you can't deny his class when in full flow.

At the end of the day, his workrate was no better when he was tearing the world apart including arguably the best club side ever in Pep's Barca, whilst under Jose at Madrid.. so it's not like he doens't know what he's signing.

Agree on Koeman though, but I doubt it.

Lazy, overrated. Madrid is one thing. Him in a Mourinho team the PL? Even with Matic? Happily take some of that personally.

Lazy lol outran Sanchez last season who is supposed to never stop running iirc. He will bang at United will have a proper platform to work from unlike at Arsenal

also created the most chances and most big chances over something like the last 4 seasons if anything he is underrated. Never understand people slating a number 10 for his work rate was pivotal today pass maps back that up too

I'll look forward to him disproving that theory et and continuing to disappear from the majority of another clubs games.

I honestly hope it happens and will leave it at that.
