The Manchester United Thread

All a Worlds away from being owned by such a State where 75% of the population that are not citizens are basically slaves for the regime. And treated appallingly as such.

Well yes, the Qatari ruling dynasty are thugs and criminals. And they were put in charge by...that's right, those lovely chaps from British Empire at the fallout of Great War. Afterwards, Her Fabolous Majesty Elizabeth II, Queen of England, has kept these fine people in power with a threat of deadly force, roughly until the time when Paisley was about replace Shankly as Liverpool's manager.

So, you know, there's that. We made this region the mess that is, and now we're angry at them that they're not yet at our level of democracy and civil rights.

Which again has no reasonable correlation from most every counterpoint you've put up big man about money and where you can trace it's origins back through the ages. Regardless of different times. (To name but one Franco's Madrid to 21st Century Madrid? Really?).

(To name but one Franco's Madrid to 21st Century Madrid? Really?).

How can you not? Madrid is a globally famous brand, and that's what attracts them sponsors, the TV deals, the shirt sales, the brand is what makes them rich. And the critical part of that brand is they are the most successful club in history of football. Which they wouldn't be, if papa Franco's generous patronage didn't help them to 6 European Cups. He may be a pile of bones but he continues to make them money and attract players.

United have Busby babes and you have Shankley/Paisley era, they have the Franco era, and it's all part of global appeal of the three clubs.

The difference is their legacy is dirty and yours is not.

Come on man. You can't reference back anytime Madrid buy a player to Madrid's foundations for success and equate it to be no different from being owned by heinous owners in the present day as you're accepting money from a club that was once the figurehead of heinous military dictator's reign.

You don't have to be told how silly that one is.

*And your English will do for me kid.

From Simon Stoney-

Jose on @ManUtd Jan signings: "Our squad was built not to have new players in Jan. Share idea + philosophy with Mr Woodward + owners. But sometimes it can happen like this, or can appear on the table, a fantastic opportunity. Then you fight for that fantastic opportunity."

Jose general answer to q on @HenrikhMkh: "My approach to players is that every player has a price.

Just watched the embargo section of the presser. Mourinho is definitely open to Miki. Leaving and hinted others could go if the price is what they deem acceptable for said player. Also said if we sign a player now ala Sanchez in the Winter we won’t be signing another winger in the Summer.

I'm shocked some united fans aren't excited about the prospect of Sanchez.

how often do you get a chance to sign a world-class player who can operate in different positions of the attacking front three? Sounds perfect to me.

You can argue that he may not be the perfect signing, but ****... near close if you ask me.

Factor in all the ability he has, versatility and work-rate, one of the best when he's on it. Like Tyton said, don't judge him since Arsenal got dumped by Bayern. before that he was their standout player imo and working blood, sweat and tears.

Edit: If nothing else, it's exciting to see Wenger's reaction to this when he has to sell a player to Mourinho.

Yeah Im in totally agreement. His attitude hasn't been great. But then Arsenal are a shambles, and players are human, and playing within themselves happens, not the only player to have done it this season. He'd be monstrous for us. Arsenal should not be doing this if they actually have any kind of ambition left to finish up the table.

30m is a snip. End of contract or not. Weird Ogden, Ducker saying we’ve been in talks since last August for Sanchez.

Thought Souness was well out of order accusing us of tapping up Sanchez on live TV. Can here the bitterness in his voice over him joking us. FA should be having words imo.

Yeah, obviously not seen that from Souness. Don't know what it's about. Still have a LOT of issues with him over the S*n front page disgrace. But I can assure you he's the very LAST person you'd ever accuse of being bitter. Not least regarding Utd.

Souness, bitter? The guy has his head so far up his ***, he hasn't seen sunlight in decades.

Sanchez definitely worth a grab, I'm kind of shock there isn't a massive bid war going on for player this quality who's about to leave on Bosman. Guardiola probably doesn't want to unbalance the squad that is already ripping ****. Mou should be desperate for improvements at the state United are in though.

Jose Mourinho is going to secure a new long-term contract for @D_DeGea at #MUFC:

(6)

Mourinho: “Obviously we are going to (renew De Gea contract). Mr Woodward is not on holiday. He barely has holidays. Of course he’s going to give him a contract that keeps him here for much longer than that option that of course we are going to execute.”

Mourinho: “I just trust the board and the work they do. I don’t negotiate players, I don’t discuss numbers and contracts. I just say what is obvious. Anyone of you would say the same - David [De Gea] is to keep.”

Have to think it is close to done for the club to say they are talking about a deal, good that he seems to still want to stay at the club

We're not even sure we've offered a deal for it to be done. The club have been saying this kind of thing for a year

Really need to get him tied down to a new long term contract. Easily best GK in world football. Pay him what he wants! Good weekend with this news. Some good loan moves for Mitchell, Wilson. Sanchez news. Tying some of our most talented players down to full contracts. Be sad if Miki goes tbh. Good player, just no confidence. Just need a win tonight and Sanchez and Ozil signed :P

I was playing FM18 last night and I was in 2022/2023 season and De Gea decided to hand in transfer request and join PSG, so I sold him after 11 seasons in the club. You know what the scary part is? He was only 31. Thirty one for ***** sake. Thats 4 years and then some ahead. He could easily do this for next 8-10 years.

He's younger than the Great Dane was when he joined us. That is ******* mental. Pay the man whatever he wants

He's been itching to leave on my FM save every transfer window then every time he puts in a request no one comes in for him resulting in he withdrawing the request after the window shuts. I will be keeping him for now lol. As for RL get him signed on a new contract for whatever he wants it is clear Real have now lost interest (or he's told them to bog off) and he wants to stay where he is loved and wanted.

Yeah and Real guaranteed to go on a spending spree next summer the way things are going. Need to tie it down and right now before they change their mind. Because we all know he's bolting within a minute if a phone call from Perez comes.

Indeed. The key difference in Utd being where they currently are or being where Arsenal currently are looking from the outside in the top 4.

Absolutely imperative to everything he's retained.
