The Manchester United Thread

Lukaku picked out Lovren's area and posted him up like any good CF would do against the weakest link. Cannot have VVD chase him around the field and lose any sort of structure. Long ball United worked. Disappointed in Liverpool as their Big 3 were completely absent. Ashley Young taking Salah completely out of the game, who would of thought that beforehand?

You're not chasing him anywhere. You're passing him over to the stronger centre-half in an opponent's particular area of strength you're better suited to. As all good partnerships do.

Credit to Young. Quietest Salah's been kept all year long. But not so much on Pawson and the lino who allowed him to get kicked and pulled all over off the ball. Took some real abuse. Not narked at Utd over it. That's old school defending that the Italians are masters at. You can get away with it then fair ***** to you. (L'pool have lacked that kind of shithousery for too long now. Lot to be said for it.). Just the **** poor officiating that failed to clamp down on it.

Where do you get from?

Let me preface this by saying congratulations and I personally thought L'pool deserved nottin' from the game today. But yuse were lucky. Yers were hanging on for dear life the last 20 minutes in a real nervy OT. Pawson turns down two clear penalty's and doesn't send off Rashford when he should have. Another day L'pool, who were off it today, more than get something.

Well done. Don't personally think we deserved much of anything. But let's not flip that into some sort of solid Utd victory.

From the game.
Liverpool were like a dog who barks. Had possession, but ******** themselves everytime United was on a break. Oh, and about injustice that happen to L'pool, let me paraphrase what Kobe once said to Howard. You're soft.

You should have been the ground mate to see how much your own fans were '******** themselves' most all the second half and the exultant relief the final whistle.

But I'm not getting into a back and forth with revisionist history.

Congratulations on the win.

Yeah, I was ******** myself as well. I was ******** myself every time your GK had the ball. Thats how it is in big games. Unless you're immune to it - in that case, fair **** to you. Thankfully, fans are not the players, and me ******** myself doesn't change the fact that L'pool looked like 90 year old grampa with no teeth trying to chew meat from a bone. The fact you had zero shots on target in second half speaks how dangerous L'pool was. So yeah, maybe you should re visit the game.

Ty, was nervous as ****. Thought Salah's going to rip Young a new one, who would figure it would be the other way around.

Sevilla presser-

Jose Mourinho on @PaulPogba's availability for tomorrow's game: "I don't know [if he will be fit], but he trained a little bit after [the media] left." #MUFC

The boss also confirms @AnthonyMartial is fit to face Sevilla. #MUFC

On @McTominay10, Jose says: "He's playing well and just wants to work, improve and be useful for the team. His humble nature is what is making him a good player for us." #MUFC

Jose: "The worst manager in history of PL - Frank de Boer 7-0-0-7 zero goals - says it is no good for Marcus Rashford to have manager like me. Maybe with him he would learn how to lose."

"Marcus is 20 years old and I'm really pleased with him," says Jose, on @MarcusRashford. "Does he play every match from the start? No, of course not. But he's a player that we trust and I'm really happy." #MUFC

Mourinho on Rashford: “I have to give credit to the academy who was responsible for him. Van Gaal who was responsible for his first season in the first team. If you go to his numbers, I would say he’s in the top 5 players with more matches in the two seasons.” #mufc

Mourinho: “We are not one of the best teams in the competition, but I think when a team arrives in the last eight, anything can happen. When you are in last 16, it looks really far, but when in the last eight, you start smelling semi-finals.” #mufc

Mourinho: “In the last eight, the feeling is you’re amongst the best. Lets see what happens. Tomorrow is a difficult match. They didn’t lose against Liverpool home and away. The result of the first leg is a result that leaves everything open.” #mufc

Mourinho: “Europa League final was our most important match in the last years. That victory brought us to United’s natural habitat which is the Champions League. United has to be a team of the Champions League.” #mufc

Mourinho on Porto winning the UCL: “I did that? Good achievement.”

Carrick: “He’s fantastic Scott, we keep producing them. As a club in this day and age, with so much scrutiny and money, to keep having players coming through is unbelievable. Credit to the manager too, he’s played him in some huge games. He’s a great lad.” #mufc

Carrick: “Now i’m totally fine, clear. It took time to get over, there were times where I thought is it worth it, that passed, I got back fit, I wanted to finish on my own terms. I was determined to get back fit.” #mufc

Carrick on Sanchez: “He loves the game. He absolutely loves it. He’s the first one out with the ball at his feet. He works hard, gives everything, we know exactly what he brings. He will have a great time here. He’s a Man United player, he suits the way we play.” #mufc

Carrick: “How do I want to be remembered? Someone that tried doing things the right way, being a team player. I gave it my best, i tried all sorts of thing to bring the best out of me. I can look back with no regrets.” #mufc

Nearly a gift for Wolves. Galbraith with a under hit back pass Kovar does well standing tall then Bernard with good cover as the Wolves STR tried to round Kovar. Pitch is pretty bad tbh!

20 mins gone pretty dire tbh so far. Both teams having possession without doing anything with it. CLOSE! Garner wins the ball in CM drives forward then has a long range effort that drifts just wide of the post. Galbraith with a good cross. Wolves CB just manages to nick it away to deny Greenwood to head in.

Good link up play between McGhee and Laird who fizzes a cross to Greenwood who shot goes just past the post. Lol Wolves should be 1 up. Great cross from the RW both Wolves players miss it completely in the 6 yrd box.

Great header from Bernard to deny Wolves scoring direct from a corner. He’s been best player so far. Dominant in the air and very good and composed on the ball for a CB. Looks a good signing!

0-0 HT Wolves the better team and well on top in the last 10. Poor pitch and to many changes has effected our play so far.

McGhee with a great free kick from the left that rattles the bar keeper beaten. 55 mins gone. 1st yellow of the game Greenwood skilfully beats his man who then hacks him down from behind 60 mins gone. Been poor again this half.

****** great cross from Laird along the ground. Barlow blazes over from about 10yards. Good run by Greenwood beats the FB tame shot saved by the GK. No pace in the game it’s like a friendly atm. Treble change now Burkart, Puigmal, Levitt on 72 min.

Wolves down to 10 after the captain is sent off for kicking Williams on the floor blantantly. Idiotic thing to do!

Get the **** in!!! Greenwood scores with a header in the last min from Oconner great cross. HUGE goal that!!!

Sweet Greenwood makes it 2-0 with the last kick of the game with a lovely solo effort :)

Mason Greenwood now has 14 goals & 4 assists in 12 start appearances for the u18s. Ridiculous productivity for an u16s player. He is now 2nd top scorer in the u18s leagues.

@jb_8521

55 goals in 18 league games for United's u18s this season who now move 7 points clear at the top of the league although other teams have games in hand.
