Maybe, unsure if I would leave to be honest....Semaj will probably be leaving Port Vale if they don't get promotion I think.

Eastwood 2 – 3 Telford

Readman reverted back to 4-5-1 on his teams visit to Coronation Park to play 9th placed Eastwood.

Eastwood took the lead after 18 minutes when Dobsons cross was headed home by Holmes. 10 minutes later a fabulous strike from Tsialkis made it 1-1, the shot was hit from all of 30 yards.

On 50 minutes Readman changed back to 4-4-2 when Fairclough came on for Murphy.
An own goal 8 minutes later made it 2-1 to Telford. Newton’s free kick was met by the head of Andrew Milne and the ball deflected off the unfortunate Dayes and nestled into the Eastwood net.

However Dayes made up for it when he headed home a Jaszczun corner to make it 2-2 on 64minutes.

Within a minute of the restart though Telford were awarded a penalty when Denson brought down Fairclough in the box. Sean Newton stepped up confidently to place the ball into the corner of the net leaving the keeper with no chance.

Eastwood looked for the equaliser but didn’t get it and Telford took the 3 points.

Readman brings in GK and ST’s for the run in

Telford manager James Readman has brought in Shrewsbury striker Andre Gray and goalkeeper Adam Davies for the next three months.

picture.php

It is thought Davies may start on Wednesday when Telford play Ilkeston as Readman has been disappointed by goalkeeper Reg Young’s recent form.

picture.php

He has also brought in Michael O’Connor from Carshalton where he has scored 14 in 27 games this season. He will not be included in Wednesdays squad as he is recovering from fractured ribs.

Telford 1 - 1 Ilkeston

Ilkeston took an early lead today when Holmes’ through ball allowed Clayton to put the ball past new goalkeeper Davies.

Fairclough did equalise for Telford but the goal was disallowed for a dubious offside and Ilkeston went in at the break with a 1 goal lead.

At the break Andre Gray and Josh Knight came on as Readman changed to the 4-4-2 formation.

Telford finally got the equaliser they deserved when substitute Josh Knight’s cross found Arsenio Halfhuid unmarked at the back post to head in. The game finished 1-1 in what as another disappointing performance from Telford.

Telford 1 – 0 Chester

Josh Knight was back up front and Davies started in goal for the visit of Chester as the ever inconsistent Telford looked for 3 vital points.

Knight
gave Telford the lead after 11 minutes when he picked up Tsiaklis’ pass on the edge of the area slamming the ball home from 18 yards.

Tsiaklis hit the bar and Milne missed a header from close range as the sides went in at half time with Telford holding the lead.

On 75 minutes Readman made his first changes with Saiko and Gray coming on for Rodgers and Knight.

Telford held on for the next 15 minutes and despite a late chance for Chester in the 4th minute of stoppage time Telford managed to keep their lead and take the 3 points.

The win means Telford lie in 3rd place a point ahead of Southport in 4th and a point behind first place Braintree and 2nd placed FC United. However, Telford have played 1 more game than their promotion rivals.

Northwich 0 – 3 Telford

With lead scorer Josh Knight leaving Telford with his loan finishing, Ben Fairclough started for Telford with new signing O’Connor on the bench.

During a close first half it was Halfhuid that gave Telford a lead when he connected onto Danny Murphy’s through ball to make it 1-0.

At the break Readman brought on new boy O’Connor for a fairly average Fairclough.
Within 20 minutes of his introduction O’Connor has the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside.

But it didn’t take long for Telford to extend their lead when a Newton corner was headed in from close range by Milne.

Telford were on their way to their first back to back victories in over 2 months.
With 2 minutes left of normal time debutant O’Connor got the goal his play had deserved with a lovely placed shot from the edge of the penalty area following a Murphy pass.

Job well done for Telford as the game finished 3-0 and the fans will be hoping O’Connor can step straight into the shoes of Josh Knight.

After the game Readman issued a statement that he would not be interested in the job at BSP side Wrexham after being made odds-on favourite for the job.

Telford 4 – 1 Bradford PA

O’Connor made his first start for Telford as Bradford PA visited New Bucks Head.
Bradford took the lead when Ashikodi received the ball in the Telford box and slotted the ball over the on rushing Davies.

The sides went in at half time with Bradford leading.

5 minutes into the second half the trusted combination of a Newton cross and Milne at the backpostgot Telford level.

The same combination put Telford into the lead in the 64th minute when Milne reacted quickest to a defensive error to slam the ball home after a Newton corner.

Newton got his third assist of the match when his cross was met at the backpost by Halfhuid to head home and extend Telford’s lead.

The unbelievable happened in stoppage time when Newton taking another corner received the ball back from a defender and whipped it in, with Milne reacting fastest to slide the ball home to get his hattrick.

picture.php

*The emphatic victory puts Telford level on points with top placed Southport with FC United dropping to third but with the same amount of points, there are 8 games left in the season.

Solihull Motors 0 - 3 Telford

Telford travelled to Solihull looking for a 4th straight victory and O’Connor got another start.

It was Telford who took the lead when Milne on the back of a hattrick against Bradford, got on the end of a Newton corner to head home. It’s clear that the new corner routine has been well practised by the team and could have a huge part to play in the promotion run in.

Telford made it 2-0 in the second half when O’Connor picked up the ball in his own half and ran past two defenders before sliding the ball past the Solihull goalkeeper, a fantastic solo effort.

With 3 minutes remaining Telford secured the 3 points when a Shaun Saiko effort crept in at the near post handing the team there 4th straight victory and left Telford topping the BSN.

picture.php

Telford 1 – 1 Droylsdon

Telford kept the same side for the visit of 9th placed Droylsdon as the league leaders tried to make it 5 in 5.

The home side took the lead when Newton whipped a ball in only for it to deflect off unfortunate Droylsdon defender Sorvel to give Telford a lead within 10 minutes.
Droylsdon drew level in the 79th minute through a free kick, smashed into the top corner by Hammonds.

Droylsdon came closest to get the win, but the game finished 1-1.

Fortunately with other results going their way, Telford remained top of the league.

*After the match Readman released a statement denying any interest in taking over at the head of league 2 strugglers Grimsby Town.

picture.php

Corby 2 – 4 Telford

Telford took the lead in the third minute when Newton’s corner was headed in by Rodgers as Telford made a brilliant start to the match.

In the 10th minute, Newton got onto the end of a Halfhuid ball to make it two nil to Telford and in the 28th minute Garry’s through ball was met by the on running Tsiaklis to put the result beyond doubt before the half time whistle.

10 minutes into the second half Corby pulled one back when Green’s cross was met by the head of Johnston to make it 3-1, however within 2 minutes the 3 goal lead was restored when Newton’s cross was met by Halfhuid at the back post, 4-1.

Corby pulled another goal back when Royce squared the ball to Baker to bury into an empty net.

It was too late thought and Telford won the game 4-2.

Telford 1 – 3 Alfreton

Telford welcomed their FA Trophy conquerors to the New Bucks Head today in a BSN game that could see them secure a play-off place with a win.

But it was Alfreton that went ahead when Mozikas wonderful through ball was tucked home by Standing after just 10 minutes.

Alfreton wasted no time in doubling their lead when Brammers hopeful long ball was gathered by Kudjodi who hammered home from 18 yards.

At the end of a shocking first half Readman brought on Fairclough for Garry in a formation switch, in the hope of getting a goal.

But despite dominating possession Alfreton were the team to score next when Mozika hit an unstoppable free kick past Davies in the Telford net.

In the 53rd minute, Telford pulled a goal back through striker O’Connor with a wonderful solo effort.

It was however just a consolation as despite their late dominance Telford failed to take any more chances and lost the game 3-1.

picture.php

Telford 2 – 0 Stalybridge

Stalybridge visited today a Telford team hoping to secure a play off place.

It was Telford who dominated the first half, but they only managed to score one chance when Garry scored a superb effort from long range.

Within 5 minutes of the restart Telford were two up. Eric Lichaj took a great free kick from deep and it was met by the head of Andrew Milne to double the Bucks’ lead.

Stalybridge rarely threatened for the rest of the match and Telford have secured their play-off place with 3 games remaining.

picture.php

picture.php

Farsley 0 – 5 Telford

Telford visited Farsley today knowing that they had secured their play-off place but knowing three wins out of the last three games is a must to secure automatic promotion.

They made a great start, with Garry setting up O’Connor to put the Bucks up within 10 minutes.

Telford then had the chance to double their lead when El Khoti brought down a Telford player in the box and the ref awarded a penalty. Newton stepped up to blast the penalty home and extend Telford’s lead.

In the second half Telford continued their domination and had the ball in the net just 3 minutes into the second half but Halfhuid’s effort was ruled out for offside.

They did get their third goal just 4 minutes later when a Telford throw was met by Luke Prosser who’s effort deflected off Farsley defender Hirst to put the Bucks 3-0 up.

Telford’s fourth came from a corner by Newton, with Milne heading past the goalkpeer to secure Telford’s win and O’Connor’s second goal of the game made it 5-0 in what was becoming somewhat of a disaster for Farsley.

picture.php

*Readman has confirmed that this game was goalkeeper Davies and striker O’Connor’s last game for the Bucks. This will be a huge dent to their automatic promotion chances with 2 games left in the season.

*Readman also confirmed that he had brought in striker Theo Lewis on a free in a hope to guarantee some goals before the end of the season.

Harrogate 2 - 1 Telford

Reg Young and Ben Fairclough were back in the starting line up today as Telford looked for 3 points away at Harrogate in the penultimate game of the season.

At the end of a poor first half it was Harrogate who took the lead when a horrible mistake by left back Killock allowed Livings to cut in and score.

At half time Readman brought on new boy Lewis for Fairclough.

Telford got level 5 minutes into the second half when Newton’s brilliant free kick was volleyed home at the back post by centre back Andrew Milne.

Both teams threatened throughout the half but it was Harrogate who took the lead through Wood after good wing play by James.

picture.php

A poor game for Telford finished 2-1 denting their promotion hopes although fortunately the results elsewhere went their way and with one game remaining Telford are top of the league but level on points with second place FC United and Braintree sit one point behind but with a slightly superior GD.

Telford will meet 6th place Nuneaton in the final game with a win a must and somewhat fortunately, FC United (2nd) will meet Braintree (3rd).

picture.php

picture.php

Telford 2 – 1 Nuneaton

Telford welcomed Nuneaton to the New Bucks Head in what was the biggest game of the season in the Blue Square North and it was Nuneaton that took the lead through a Reed freekick in the 20th minute.

Meanwhile, Braintree and FC United was still 0-0 after 20 minutes.

The game went in at the break at 1-0 to Nuneaton while at Braintree the game went in 1-1 at half time.

In the second half at Braintree the home side took the lead after 53 minutes against FC United.

Whilst at the New Bucks Head, Garry who had been pushed upfront in a formation switch scored an equaliser for Telford who would need a win if the result stays the same at Braintree.

Telford players obviously knew this and in the 73rd minute went ahead after some great work by Fairclough who played in Tsialkis who finished into an empty net.
Meanwhile at Braintree FC United had equalised in the 78th minute, meaning Telford sat 2 points clear at the top of the live table.

picture.php

Suddenly the Telford fans started to make lots of noise at the New Bucks Head, despite little action on the field – this was because they knew FC United had took the lead in the 88th minute at Braintree and they knew that they now only needed to draw to win the league because of their vastly superior goal difference over FC United.

In the 90th minute at Braintree, the home side drew level with Cumbers scoring his second of the game, however back at New Bucks Head the celebrations had already begun as the final whistle blew and Telford were confirmed as champions of Blue Square North.

Semaj, Vale and Marske updates coming soon as well as the end of season 2010/11 review.

Well in Redders, deffo try and get O'Connor on season long loan next season, well, that's if you stay at Telford ;)

well in redders, top performance this season. capped it off by winning the championship. good look for next year.

Thanks Jack and Harry.

Yeah in the 7 games he played he scored 5, not a bad return to be honest was a bit annoyed he missed the last two games.

Might take a look at him next season as surely he won't stay at his current club.

nice end to the season. how did semaj and port vale finish??

nice end to the season. how did semaj and port vale finish??

Thanks, got a bit lucky with them two teams playing each other but meh I won so it didn't really matter.

I will include details of how Semaj and Vale did in the end of season update.

Just cracked it open to complete my end of season review. So I guess a new post within the hour.

lol redders, your new display picture is sooo funny lol

Season Review 2010/11

Here is my end of season review for 2010/11 starting with AFC Telford’s performance in the league.

I was expected to get into the play-offs as a minimum this year and managed to win the league by two points. I won 24 out of the 42 games played, drawing 11 and losing just 7. Scored 88 goals in 42 matches, which isn’t bad at all and conceded 49 which is pretty poor (and is only two less than Hyde, who got relegated).

picture.php

Transfer wise, there was a **** of a lot of activity. 22 players were brought in and 23 left the club. No money was spent and no money was brought in despite all these transfers. A lot of the players leaving left on frees so that it cleared up my wage budget a little bit.

picture.php

For me, my top signings were that of John Knight on loan from WBA, Arsenio Halfhuid on loan from Villa and Andrew Milne on a free.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

- Knight for goals, Halfhuid for goals and assists and Milne for all those vital headed goals

Cup performances again weren’t great apart from the FA Cup, and getting knocked out by Bradford in the 4th round though disappointing was still quite impressive.

picture.php

At the start of the season I pointed out three squad members who I thought would be key men, they were Sean Newton, Gavin Cowan and Angelos Tsiaklis.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

All three played a part in winning the league. Unfortunately Cowan’s playing time was limited once Andrew Milne arrived on a free but he managed 16 games. Tsiaklis played in 40 games in total scoring 8 and assisting 7 with an average rating of 7.13, not bad.

Sean Newton was fantastic. He played 38 games scoring 4 and assisting a huge 26 goals. He finished with a 7.17 rating overall.

Also an honourable mention for Shane Killock who played in 42 games and got a 7.10 rating, didn’t have him down as key.

Port Vale and Semaj Updates

Semaj has had one **** of a season personally but it ended in failure as Port Vale were beaten in both the semi final of the play-offs and in the Johnstone Paint final.

picture.php

picture.php

In the league Port Vale finished in 4th place and Semaj won the top scorer with 28 league goals. In total he scored 31 in 45 games.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

His value has hit a new high at £300k and Championship side Watford are firmly interested in the New Zealand international. It remains to be seen whether or not they will bid though.

picture.php

As for me it looks like I will stay at Telford for now, despite the interest in me and the fact that there are several clubs higher up with managers ‘under review’ (Blackburn, Huddersfield, Derby, Southend).

Also, if anyone is interested, this is how the EPL finished, with Wolves and Hull doing brilliantly.

picture.php

well if you want a chance to join up with semaj i think you may have to go to a bigger club now?

EPL- Grr!! Boro went down on goal Differance to newcastle:(

Meh he's only 22 at the moment, plenty of time to link up. Don't want to rush from team to team really.

Thanks!
