Southport 1 - 3 Telford

Headed goals key as Telford beat top of the table Southport

Telford went ahead after 25minutes when a long ball from Killock found on loan Halhuid in some space on the right hand side. His cross was met emphatically by the head of Davidson to put the Bucks 1-0 up at half time.

Southport equalised 5 minutes into the second half when Dunkley failed to clear a McGinn freekick leaving Daly plenty of time to slot the ball home, 1-1.

However within 5 minutes Telford were back ahead when goalscorer Davidson turned provider with a corner headed in by defender Andrew Milne. The win was sealed when, with 10 minutes remaining, striker Thompson’s left wing cross was met by the head of right winger Halfhuid to make it 3-1.

Telford 3 – 1 Corby Town

Telford went behind after 3 minutes and missed a penalty late on but still managed to win the game 3-1.

Brett Solkhon put Corby ahead after a Watt cross from the right duped the Bucks defence. A Halfhuid penalty after 20 minutes pulled Telford level and a Tsiaklis strike minutes before half time put Telford 2-1 up at the break.

Shane Killock missed an opportunity to put the game beyond doubt when he struck his penalty weakly in the 85th minute. However it mattered not as on loan Josh Knight put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time with his 11th goal in 17 games.

Semaj and Marske Updates

Since the last update Semaj has hit 4 goals in 7 games for a Port Vale side that are sitting in 3rd place in league 2 with half the season played. Crewe continue to show an interest but again, they are yet to make an offer for the striker.

Marske have dropped down in the league to 14th and are now only 4 points from the relegation places with 21 games gone.

Shows how well people read the OP when I'm the only one to comment on the dog with diabetes... :p

P.S. I really hope no-one commented on the above in pages 2-4, only read pages 1&5! :O :p

P.S.S Perhaps a tad late but I hope that Mr. '****' does the 'business' for you.... (H) (6)

Changes

Right so to hopefully make the story a little more interesting I have made a few changes;

  • More in depth match reports but with important parts (score/scorers) highlighted for skim reading.
  • Semaj has a face! OK, so it’s a South Park character design but it’s nice to put a face to the name (check the sig).
  • Layout improvement. I hope the things I add will beat the old screenshot and words. Not too much change here just little things that might make reading easier.

Nuneaton 1 – 0 Telford

Nuneaton were down was 4/5 favourites to win the match despite lying 3 places below Telford in the league. The draw was at 2/1 and league toppers AFC Telford were 3/1 to get the win at 4th place.

Telford were without attacking midfielder Jamie Garry who is still out with a twisted knee. Left winger Sean Newton is back from injury and Readman is likely to start him on the left hand side of a 5 man midfield.

Line up; R. Young, E. Lichaj, A. Milne, L. Prosser, S. Killock, R. Davidson, A. Tsiaklis, A. Halfhuid, D. Murphy, S. Newton, J. Knight.

Early chances were squandered by Halfhuid and Newton for Telford as the first half drew a blank. At half time Readman brought off Tsiaklis who had picked up a slight injury during the first half – it is not known how long her may face on the sidelines – Carl Rodgers was his replacement.

15 minutes into the second half Nuneaton took the lead when a through ball from Stephan was met by Rigg who cooly slotted the ball past Telford keeper Young.
Telford had their chances in the closing minutes including a 20 yard volley from Davidson but they failed to find the net.

Despite the loss Readman was pleased with the performance of on loan star Eric Lichaj who completed many passes and gave a solid performance.

Telford 3 - 1 Stafford Rangers (FA Trophy 1st round)

Readman has made it clear that the league is his priority but that the FA trophy was still a big interest to him by naming a strong side for the visit of BSN strugglers and rivals Stafford in the first of a cup/league double header.

Telford were 4/6 favourites to win the match and before the match fans were expecting a comfortable win. It was all set up for a nice big fall for Readmans’ side.

5 changes were made to the side that lost at Nuneaton with Ben Fairclough, Stephen Thompson, Carl Rodgers, Gavin Cowan and Cheyenne Dunkley coming into the side at the expense of Knight, Newton, Killock, Davidson and Prosser.

It took just 8 minutes for Telford to take the lead when Gareth Davies tripped Ben Fairclough in the box, allowing Gavin Cowan to calmly slot home from 12 yards. A great start for Telford.

Defender Andrew Milne doubled the Bucks’ lead when he headed home Stephen Thompsons corner on 17minutes.

Stafford rarely threatened towards the end of the first half and it was Telford that nearly put the game past Rangers when Fairclough went through on goal but his shot whistled past the post after beating the Stafford goalkeeper.

At the break Readman brought top scorer Josh Knight on for Fairclough.

Stafford pushed to get back into the game and had two opportunities to do so, but both were missed. They were punished for this when a cheeky through ball from Murphy allowed substitute Knight to put the result beyond doubt with 15 minutes left.

Stafford scored a consolation goal from the spot when Halfhuid brought down Douglas in the area allowing striker Wilson to make it 3-1. A glimmer of hope for Stafford, but the game petered out allowing Telford to progress through to the next round.

Readman brings in old face

James Readman today confirmed he has brought in Shaun Saiko on a free transfer after he was let go by Middlesbrough at the end of last season.

Readman worked with Saiko in his promotion campaign at Marske United and is said to be very pleased that he has been able to link up with the Canadian midfielder again. Saikos arrival may have an effect on a few of the fringe players at Telford as he is likely to be one of the highest paid members of the Telford squad meaning the wage bill will have to once again be reduced.

Telford 2 – 0 Stafford Rangers

Telford were once again made favourites for the second visit in 4 days of Stafford Rangers.

Saiko came into the starting line up just a day after signing for the Bucks. Newton, Killock, Knight, Prosser and Davidson were all recalled to the side following their rest on the weekend.

Telford had the best of the early exchanges and took the lead through Arsenio Halfhuid with 15 minutes played after heading home a Sean Newton cross.

Shortly after the break new boy Saiko hit the post from around 25 yards and Josh Knight had a header ruled out for a foul on a Rangers defender.

Saiko
got Telfords second goal though on his debut when he struck a 30 yard effort into the top corner following a square ball from Sean Newton with just two minutes remaining.

Readman was delighted with Saiko’s debut in a game in which he scored and received the man of the match award. A great start for the young Canadian.

FC United 3 – 0 Telford

1st place against 2nd place as league leaders Telford travel to FC United for what could be one of the most important games of the season.

Telford are 6/4 favourites to take the win and will name an unchanged line up from the midweek victory against Stafford.

It was FC United who took the lead when a Kavanagh free kick was headed home by Williams for his first goal for FC United.

An Arsenio Halfhuid header was the only highlight of a poor first half for Telford.
Readman made one change at the break with fit again Tsiaklis replacing Davidson in midfield.

It was FC United though who extended their lead when a Kavanagh corner was headed home by Van Der Korput. Telford were struggling to deal with the height of FC United.

They were once again punished when another Kavanagh cross was again headed home this time by top scorer Wilson scoring his 18th goal in 17 matches.

A shocking effort from Tsiaklis signalled the end of a hugely disappointing game for Telford and result which will have hurt Readman as much as it did the fans.

The result sends Telford down to third with FC United and Southport leapfrogging them in BSN.

Telford 3 – 0 Workington

Cowan in for Killock and Tsiaklis off the bench in place of Ross Davidson were the only two changes Readman made from the team that were soundly beaten by FC United midweek.

Telford took the lead after 20 minutes when Arsenio Halfhuids through ball was netted by Josh Knight, a great start for the Bucks.

Lee Roach almost equalised for Workington before a Shaun Saiko long range shot flew harmlessly over the goal. Telford doubled their lead when Tsiaklis split the defence allowing Garry to slot home from 10 yards.

Telford made it three before the break when a Sean Newton corner was headed home by Arsenio Halfhuid. A great half for the Bucks.

During the second half Telford rarely threatened and Workington missed several glorious opportunities. Readman’s men held on for a vital 3 points with a fairly convincing 3-0 win.

Media Speculate on next Stockport Manager

James Readman has been named odds on favourite to take over as the new boss of league 2 strugglers Stockport County.

However, it is believed Readman is looking to stay on at Telford at least until the end of the season to focus on the Bucks’ challenge for promotion.

picture.php

Braintree 2 – 0 Telford

Telford went to third placed Braintree in the hope of bringing back three points but Readman named an almost fully changed side due to poor fitness levels.

Unsurprisingly it was Braintree who took the lead moments before the half time whistle, when Henry’s through ball was neatly tucked home by striker Taylor.

At half time the in-effective Ben Fairclough and Danny Murphy were brought off for Shaun Saiko and Josh Knight.

The changes however failed to motivate the Bucks and Taylor made it 2-0 when he headed home a Quinton cross with 2 minutes remaining.

It was an extremely poor show from Telford who seem unable to put together a good string of results as the season edges closer to crunch time. The fans will certainly be looking for a result against 22nd place Hyde in the next game.

picture.php

picture.php

Hyde 1 – 1 Telford

Readman again named a team full of changes with Halfhuid, Newton and Knight used in an attacking trio.

It was 22nd placed Hyde who took the lead though when against the run of play Arnold outwitted the defence before squaring the ball to McNiven who calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner on the half hour mark. That’s the way it stayed at half time.

Into the second half Telford were forced into a change when Garry picked up an injury and was replaced by youngster Danny Murphy.

With half an hour remaining Readman brought off top scorer Josh Knight after an ineffective hour, replacing him with Ben Fairclough.

Within two minutes of the change Telford were level when Sean Newton’s corner was headed home by Milne.

Despite both sides pushing for a winner, the game ended in a stalemate with neither fans leaving the stadium happy.

The draw leaves Telford slightly behind in the race for promotion having dropped down to 4th place with an 8 point deficit with 15 games to play.

Telford 0 – 0 Hinckley

Telford had another chance to secure 3 points against a team struggling in the BSN as Hinckley visited the New Bucks Head.

In a poor first half neither side came close and Readman made some changes at the break with Milne coming on for Cowan and Lee Mitchell coming on for Ben Fairclough with Halfhuid moving to RW – Fairclough reacted angrily to being substituted.

The second half brought much of the same and the game withered out to a bore draw with Telford again failing to take advantage of a struggling side.

The fans and Readman both commented on the disappointing run, with changes in the offing.

Telford 5 – 1 St Albans City

Telford had their third chance in 3 games to pick up three points against a struggling BSN side when St Albans visited the New Bucks Head.

Readman reverted to a 4-4-2 formation for the first time in a year and it took only 8 minutes for the Bucks to take the lead when Killocks long range pass was slid home by Josh Knight.

Telford doubled their lead after 9 minutes when some good work from goal scorer Josh Knight on the right resulted in a Ben Fairclough.

Within 4 minutes the game was put beyond St Albans when a cross from Thompson from the left wing was nodded on by Josh Knight into the path of Ben Fairclough who buried his side footed effort.

Fairclough
made it a 16 minute hattrick after being put through by Vaughan to tuck the ball home from close range.

Telford made it 5 in stoppage time of the first half after a rare St Albans attack with a great counter resulting in a Telford penalty.

Tsiaklis
stepped up to slam the ball past a very ginger looking Tommy Crowther.

The same team stepped out in the second half and it was St Albans who pulled one back within 10 minutes when Browns throw in was received by Bailey who tucked the ball home from 18 yards, a fine goal.

Not much more action was in the second half and Telford failed to get any more as they ran out clear winners.

Semaj Update– 07/01/2011

In the last update on Semaj Namdear he had scored 12 in 21 games but since then he has been on fire and has scored another 10 goals in 8 games and now has 22 in 29 games. 20 of these goals have been in 25 league games which makes him the leagues top scorer.

picture.php

picture.php

picture.php

Port Vale lie in third place in the league with a comfortable 11 point lead on the teams outside of the play off places.

Semaj has been attracting interest from Coca Cola Championship side Sheffield Wednesday who might be tempted into making a move in this transfer window.

Alfreton Town - Telford – FA Trophy 2nd Round

On the back of a 5-1 win Readman kept with the same formation with the same striker partnership of Knight and Fairclough for the 2nd round tie against Alfreton Town.

Alreton took the lead when a Standing corner was met by the head of Jordan to make it 1-0.

Readman brought on Halfhuid and Thompson on at half time.

However Telford rarely threatened in the second half as their reputation as one of the most inconsistent teams carried on and they were knocked out of the FA Trophy.
