This has blown me away this early evening.

It's to footballs eternal detriment that this still has to happen this way when it should be a complete non-story and just another young man living their life openly and enjoying their job. But we sadly are where we still are and the all inclusive, welcoming to all game the sport portrays itself as is sadly still the furthest thing from that.

So I am in absolute awe at the tremendous courage shown by Blackpool's Jake Daniels to openly come out and be true to himself. Made even braver by the fact he is just 17 years old. Unbelievable strength of character from someone so young.

I'm just blown away by someone I'd never even heard about 10 mins ago before seeing that tweet and reading his story. Pride doesn't begin to sum up the unbelievably brave step he's taken. Hopefully, it will encourage and inspire others to follow in his footsteps.

We've still, sadly, a LONG way to go with the base ignorance toward most everything in life that doesn't fit into peoples cookie cutter ideals. Not just in football. Like the ongoing battle against racism within the sport, someone's sexual preference shouldn't be any sort of an issue to be used against him in his job. So, hopefully the sport grabs this opportunity to show ho far it's come and stand FIRMLY side-by-side with the brave, beyond his tender years, Jake Daniels.

All power to you mate. Genuine, decent football fans stand with you all the way.

I don't think anyone does mate. Chelsea and Tommy Tuckers career standard late season collapse included.

It's frightening for the rest of the league just how many years behind City and L'pool the rest of the 'traditional' big 6 are.

The Pl, in terms of who can even challenge for it, has become the SPL. A 2-horse field.

It takes a 17 year old at the very start of his career to put so many older professionals who have hidden (and still hide) their true selves in to perpective. Hopefully the football community can accept him for what he is and not fall back on the fake macho image which hounded Fashanu throughout his career (even before he came out as gay), and causes so many to live a lie. It takes courage to come out at the best of times but to do so knowing that he will become a target for all the bigots in the crowd (not just rival fans either) and within the game proves that he is confident in his own self. Fair play to him for coming out to live his life the way he wants and gooc luck for the future.

Perfect post mate. 👏🏻

Related, as I can never see Justin Fashanu's name without thinking of this .....

That one goal encapsulates what a wonderful talent he was. A real pioneer with his peers of the team that every black footballer since owes a tremendous debt to. Before you even get into the crux of the topic here.

Tragic loss gone way too early.

AlthoughI I don’t particularly want to spend time in Helsinki with either of them, come on the Rangers this evening. Bring it home boys and P all over the other mobs title!

WATP!

Hmm interesting, very close to go watch. How hard is it to get tickets for Super Cup?

If L'pool are playing either Rangers or Frankfurt, forget it. You'd struggle if it's Madrid come to that as Rangers and Frankfurt would hoover up all the neutral/ secondary market tickets.

And forget it period if it's Frankfurt. Ad the ***** are currently demonstrating again in Seville, they'll mob up and attack anyone and anything.

Absolutely fantastic effort by Rangers. Encompassing their whole tournament from the qualifiers on.

Now to hold their nerve and win the ultimate one-on-one test of everything …..

Devoed for Rangers. Outstanding effort, outstanding campaign.

Devoed for ourselves having to deal with these horrible ***** in Finland. Think as little time as possible is needed. Might well do the day trip on safety grounds.

Say what you will, but relegation fight this year has been more entertaining than most year's title runs.
