Gerhardt comes back into the side in place of Kagawa after he impressed in training, while Mario Gomez gets the nod up front to try and kick start our faltering attack.

A shame this as we actually played quite a good game. We created plenty of chances, hit the woodwork twice, unfortunately it just wasnt to be as Bayern were just that little bit too strong for us.

David Ospina gets a chance in goal as quite frankly I'm fed up of conceding soft goals so Cillessen has been dropped. Other than that its the standard team for this big match against 4th placed Hertha!

Absolutely shocking. Without a win in our last 5 now, and only two wins in our last 9 games. At this rate we are going to be relegation candidates as opposed to European challengers. Something just doesn't feel right and I cant put my finger on what it is.

I have gone completely left field on this one and drastically changed things up. Inspire by Chelsea in real life at the moment I have gone for a solid back 5 with the two holding mids in front. This presents an opportunity for Knoche to come into the side. This is a HUGE gamble, as I have never played this formation before, ever. But things can hardly get much worse.

View attachment 118212
Get in! The formation worked a treat as we dominated Kaiserslautern and picked up a big win to get us back on the right track. Even with Gerhardt getting sent off early on, we still managed to boss the game with 10 men and keep our first clean sheet in 9 games. This could be huge for us.

Just the one change from our last match with Max Arnold coming back into the side to replace the suspended Gerhardt. You may notice I have removed all my skins, as they were making FM Crash, so its just the boring old basic view now!

And with that we are back to drawing. Nowhere near as good in this match, but more positive signs that the system may in fact work with Rondon chipping in with two goals. We really need to work on keeping possession and moving the ball with more pace and purpose.

Just the one change for us today and its an enforced one, with Angel Correa replacing Leroy Sane who didnt travel with the squad due to a virus.

What. A. Win. A perfect performance as we held strong defensively and hit them towards the end of the game on the counter attack. Despite coming up against Aubameyang, Coutinho, Reus, Schurrle, Gotze and Iheanacho (All of them were on the pitch at one point or another) we limited them to long range efforts and they didn't have a single clear cut chance.

Nice story mate, good club in Wolfsburg. A great building foundation and so happy to see you've brought Sane in.

December Review

View attachment 118100
An appalling start to the month actually ended superbly with great wins against Kaiserslautern and Dortmund, while we were unlucky to get just a point against Koln. The new formation has certainly filled the squad with confidence and optimism going forwards.

Table

View attachment 118097
Sitting comfortably mid table but I am not ready to give up on that Champions League space just yet. The win over Dortmund has pegged the gap back to just four points, and we are only two off of Europa League qualification.

Player of the Month

View attachment 118095
I'm gunna give it to Rondon this month, especially since the formation change. He has come alive recently and has looked like the complete forward that we really need.

January/February fixtures

View attachment 118094
There is little to no point of doing a monthly review for just one game, so I will mash January and February together for the next review.

In

Balde Keita - Loan - FC Bayern

View attachment 118092
Brought in to provide some competition for Sane and Correa, Keita is a tricky inside forward with great pace and technique. Correa has been really disappointing so far this season and I just felt that if Sane doesnt play well, we dont really have any more options, so Keita can fill that gap.

Eliaquim Mangala - £3 mil - Man City

View attachment 118091
With just 6 months left on his contract, we pounced for Mangala. Playing three at the back, we needed another centre back for depth and we got one of first team quality. There is no doubt there is a quality player in Mangala somewhere, hopefully now he has left City he can show that once more. We even managed to get City to pay £40k of his wages so we only have to pay him £68k a week. Bargain.

Out

Shinji Kagawa - £7.25 mil - Hertha

Turned out to be a really poor signing. Made little to no impact whatsoever, and with our change in formation, the only playmaker we use is in a deep lying defensive role which he would have been unsuited too. We decided to cash in and claim a tidy profit on what was a free transfer at the start of the year.

Jakub Blaszczykowski - £80k - Brondby

Jakub had 6 months left on his contract and wasn't going to get a look in, especially following the arrival of Keita, so we took the £80k while it was on offer and shipped him off to the Danish league to Brondby.

Team News

There are debuts today for Keita and Mangala who come straight in to the side, while Kessie makes his return from his awful start of season injury and sits in midfield alongside Witsel. Arnold and Ospina are both out injured, the latter of which gives Cillessen a chance to force his way back in to the side.

View attachment 118075
That was incredible. We are absolutely dominating teams with this formation in terms of chances. They didnt have a sniff and we created so much that 3-0 was actually a flattering scoreline for them. Rondon kept up his impressive form, Keita scored a debut goal and Witsel kept his calm from the penalty spot. A perfect win.

Axel Witsel is suspended for todays game against bottom of the table Augsburg after picking up his 5th booking of the season, Kristoffer Ajer takes his place in the side as the only change from our 3-0 win over Ingolstadt.

Unbelievable. Once again we play a really good game of football, hit the woodwork twice, denied by their goalkeeper on so many occasions and then they sucker punch us with the counter with the last kick of the game. I'm not overly gutted with this one, sometimes it happens in football, it does hurt though.

Witsel returns to the side in the only change from the defeat in the last match. I kind of want to give this team an extended run so they can all get used to eachother in the formation. On paper, this is my best team, will it work out that way though?

View attachment 118047
View attachment 118046
A scrappy, hard fought win over Monchengladbach, and an entirely undeserved one at that. We were not good today, but picking up results when your not playing well is always a good sign, Kessie with his first goal for the club was the saviour today. So we lose when we play well, and win we play poorly.. logic.

A big game at the top as we take on 2nd place Hoffenheim who have been on fire this season. It is going to be a clash of back 5's today, it will be interesting to see if we are both just going to be far too defensive to make an entertaining game.

This shows just how far we have still to go before we are a top team in the division. We held our own and went toe to toe with them for the first half, but we got a little bit complacent in the second half and ended up throwing it away. Even worse was Mangala getting sent off, meaning he is banned for the next match.

Well there is one thing we do know about our side, we are consistently inconsistent. A great performance today with the result to match as we very comfortably swept aside Nurnberg, goals from Mane and Keita either side of another Witsel penalty secured the points to end the month strongly.

January/February Review

Not bad, not great. We are starting to pick up wins with the formation, it is now just a case of ironing out the problems and I think we could be on to something good here. At least the draws have stopped!!

Table

View attachment 118009
Fairly happy with where we are sat at the moment. If we finish the season in the Europa League spots then I think we can be quietly pleased and build for a push for Champions League next season. Bayern, as you can see, are just gone at the top.

Player of the Month

View attachment 118008
Franck Kessie gets it this month. The lad had a lot to do, coming back from serious injury but he has done so well. For a start he has displaced Max Arnold in the side, which is no mean feat, and his energy and strength in the centre of the park have really kept things ticking over for us. An unsung hero.

March Preview

A huge month for us, Mainz, Leverkusen, Schalke, Leipzig.. all good teams, and a chance to advance in the cup a well.

I've just spent however long reading this from start to finish and I have absolutely loved it! Can't wait to see how the season ends and hope you can push for a European spot! Keep up the good work

It's the familiar 3-4-3 formation again with Mangala returning from suspension to replace Rojo who is suspended himself.

A memorable win against Mainz continues our fairly good form and helps us solidify our place in the table. A quickfire double from Rondon got us off to a flyer before Keita made it comfortable late on. Mainz has vastly more possession and more shots than us, but our counter attacks were lethal and in terms of clear cut chances we dominated. Two assists for Sadio Mane again proves just how important he is to us.

Corrupt save file guys. Absolutely gutted with this. I cant be bothered to go back three months to before the transfer window which is the last clean save, so we have two options.

1. I resign my post at Wolfsburg and look for a new club to continue my story with...

2. Call it a day and begin a new story as this was only supposed to be a sort of warm up anyway.

Let me know what you guys want me to do! I will put a poll up for you to vote on.

Definietly new save imo, even though this have been a very very good save I'd like to see you do some kind of Road To Glory or a lower league Journeyman save, your writes-up are excellent.
