My predictions for this week:
the strike denied easy wins in the first match to both Milan teams, who now face tougher opponents.
milan-lazio is a tough call. i would personally love a double disqualification with a ten points penalization for both teams, but since this is quite unlikely to happen, let's say it's going to be a boring 0-0. in all honesty, milan should win, but lazio ofter start well their season, so i reckon a draw is possible
cesena-napoli is an away win. the chances of a draw, tho, are not too small. cesena have a striking force that does not suit their "avoiding relegation" status, with mutu, candreva and eder. if they get well together, the crowds at dino manuzzi stadium (btw, they have a brand new synthetic turf) are going to be well entertained this year. still, they need some time and napoli, with their team mostly unchanged from last season, are already tried and tested
juventus-parma could result in another draw. conte's team is meant to be one of the dark horses of the season, but again, new style of playing and too many new faces to be thrown on the pitch together without too much preparation. they are favourites, but parma are a kind of team that makes the most of team-playing and physical condition and may be harder than expected to beat them
Catania-Siena and Chievo-Novara should be two home wins. Even tho away starts of newly-promoted teams in the last years brought shocking results, i don't think Siena and (above all) Novara to be a big threat to solid teams such as Catania and (above all) Chievo
Fiorentina-Bologna is a close call. I'll go with a home win because the overall technical gap is too high. But skills doesn't always pay in football, so i'd take a close watch on di vaio if i were a viola supporter
Genoa-Atalanta is a draw. genoa are constant surprises, when they seem stronger they get trashed and when they seem not to have a single chance they end winning the points, so i really don't know what to expect. i'm curious to see Atalanta's new signing Morales, from what they say in argentina he, not ricky alvarez, was the real deal of last season Velez.
Lecce-Udinese is an away win. Even though they were eliminated, Udinese showed real consistency against arsenal and should have no problem dispatching a lecce team that will hardly have already learnt the highly offensive playing style of Di Francesco
Roma-Cagliari. I hate to make prediction on my team's matches. When you look at the team sheets you wouldn't put a penny on an away win, but i've seen too many times underdogs getting the three points against past Roma teams that were supposed to be stronger... so i can't really give a proper opinion on my beloved Roma until i see those half-dozen matches that make you understand what's the attitude of the team, how well Luis Enrique's style was implemented and, above all, if it is fit to italian football. In the end, i obviously hope for a home win, which is also what as a neutral i would think will happen
Palermo-Inter could have offered us the first shock of this season. That if Zamparini hadn't already sacked Pioli to leave the team to Mangia, who did surprisingly well with Varese Primavera last season, but doesn't seem ready to take a serie A team. With confusion reigning in palermo, the strong individualities of Inter are probably going to pull out a couple of tricks that will give them the first three points of the season.
