The United board is set to ratify Ratcliffe’s purchase of a 25 per cent stake in the club, for up to £1.3 billion, at a meeting on Thursday.

It is likely to take another eight weeks for the deal to be completed, with Ratcliffe also required to undergo the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test before he can officially join the board. @TimesSport
