Empire was okay, got fed up with the problems in it so I quit playing. Hated how the AI didn't do ****, and alliances were a bit ****** up. Also not a big fan of the tech tree deal.

However I got a new pc which could run the game much better and probably make it more interesting, however I seem to have lost it.

The AI is vastly improved in Napoleon, though not perfect as you can probably guess.

They also tidied up alliances, and I have received help from numerous adjacent allies on the game.

Worth a look if you're still interested.

I'm thinking about digging out my copy of Medieval II. Still my favourite of the series.

Words can not describe how much I love the Total war series. Had them since Rome which (until Rome 2 I hope and dream) will always be my favourite of the series. Had Med 2 and enjoyed it, especially the expansion. Empire was ok but the bugs were annoying. Napolean was very good (what empire should have been graphics/stability wise) and would recommend buying Clark_Messi. Can't wait for Shogun as it looks absoloutly awesome (especially graphics wise. Is one reason i Just bought new new graphics card HD 5850). I completely agree The Helpful Devil that swords and arrows are way better than guns. I loved AOE2 (AOE3 not that great) but Rome is still my favourite strategy of all time! (Closely followed by C&C generals) Great idea for a thread btw

not played empire really since i bought it out might it try again. love total war rome most of all, there is something about playing as the house of Julili and conquering all of the known world that keeps bringing me back to it

Cannot wait until Shogun 2, I prefer the Oriental setting in games and the trailer looks awesome.

I don't suppose anybody has news of a release date?

March 25th 2011.

That's a probably, and I'd expect that to be delayed for a couple of weeks on top. Still, pretty good. I'll preorder when it comes available, I'm not missing them going back to the one that started it ten years ago. Hopefully they keep the ridiculously over the top ninja kill cutscenes. :P

slightly off topic but does anyone know of any good mods for medieval 2 that make it into the Roman era? So basically rome total war but with the medieval 2 engine? I loved the mods for rome but never really looked for Medieval II

The Total War series have taken a serious nose-dive since Rome. The AI, which in Rome was pretty awful, just got worse. I've played TW since Shogun, and Shogun was far more enjoyable than the later games. Empire was a buggy, steaming pile of ****. How it kept getting good metascores is beyond me. Also, the only way it became moderately challenging for a strategy geek was to play Very Hard/Very Hard (which had the annoying effect of only upping the enemy's troop stats rather than upping AI) and not exploit. What also bothers me is that they're releasing a new game, yet my brother, with a fully patched Empire:TW, couldn't finish one single big battle due to too many bugs that crashed the game.

Which is why I'm looking forward to Civ V.

I was searching through my games and came across medi 2 and the campaign is immense I am england and I pwn I own all of britain the french coast, belgium, nethelands and places in turkey it epic

Rome total war was ace... but i cant be bothered with it now... i have Halo Wars, Age Of Empires, FM (obviously) and black ops lol

I haven't played much TW lately, but if you want mods ect. the best site for that is twcenter.net IMO. The Third Age: Total War is awesome for M2TW - very high quality work.

Edit: Elasticspy - Halo Wars? Seriously? :S

It is a Lord of the Rings mod. Here is the latest release thread.

Also, Shogun 2 is looking really good. Can't wait till the 15th of March. Need a new computer first though lol.
