Don't think you should take too much from it, but mehh. If Nasri is going to leave, he's going to leave anyway - not because of what Evra has said to him. I don't see us signing him anyway. Where would he fit in?

If we sign him, I think he will play Giggs role. The way Giggs is playing with Carrick.

Anyways I dont think we will sign him. Modric or Sneijder plz..

Wigan and West Ham duking it out for McGugan.. Who'd win that battle? XD

re. Nasri/Evra texts. Yeah, L'Equipe is generally reliable. Translation is pretty spot on too (though it misses the end part where Evra teases Nasri about him winning "thirteen or fifteen" medals at Manchester United (Equipe rather snottily says, "actually twelve"). It's obviously banter - just reads like one mate winding another up. (And yes, I do speak and read French - went to uni in Belgium and spend a lot of time in France).

As for players tapping each other up... it's pretty much known that's generally the way a club tends to find out if a player is willing to move to them. Should read some autobiographies where players get told by their manager to ask when eg players go off for internationals etc. Not sure it's particularly wrong either - Player X says to Player Y "Our manager thinks you'll make a great addition. Would you fancy playing for us?". You're not going to stop that kind of thing, and I'm not sure you should either. There's only a couple of clubs desperate enough for headlines that they're happy to make failed bid after failed bid for players who'll turn them down.

It's not tapping up whatsoever but I still think Evra should be banned for it. Just out of general principle that Evra should be banned at every opportunity.

;D

Spurs have denied all reports that Gomes could go back to PSV this summer.

Really exciting if true!

According to reports in Correio da Manha, Liverpool have agreed a fee of £25m for Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao.

Kenny is set to move for the 23-year old full back who has been linked with a string of high profile clubs across Europe, including Premiership rivals Chelsea and Man City.

Liverpool has made a left back their top priority in the summer and have been linked with Everton’s Leighton Baines, Arsenal’s Gael Clichy and Newcastle’s Jose Enrique.

Don't want Coentrao to go to 'Pool, I think he's absolutely quality.

Murky world of #nufc transfer dealings gets murkier. Club denying improved bid has been made for Kevin Gameiro, as for Gervinho, possibly!

Not sure what this means with regards to Gameiro, could mean we've bid €6m but not €10m, or we might have gone straight in high, or not at all, but improved implies there's been a bid. I like the sound of the possibly for Gervinho though.

I would love either of them, or both of them! ;)

Me too, would also show the ambition needed to keep some important players.

Some added clarification on the Gameiro segment:

There was an original bid rejected and I think there are people inside the club who want to put in another one!

My hatred of Liverpool and Chelsea is getting deeper and deeper.
Liverpool signing all the Portuguese players (Meireles, Coentrao) and Chelsea taking all of Benfica's best players (Luiz, Ramires)

:D :D

Arsene Wenger has dropped a major hint that he is ready to make a spectacular move for Karim Benzema.
Wenger says a move for Real Madrid's French striker "doesn't seem impossible" even if it would represent a big change in transfer policy for the Arsenal manager

Benzema, 23, may be available this summer as Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho looks to shake-up his squad to fund a move for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez.

Wenger said: "Viewed from the outside, it doesn't seem impossible today. He's a player that I like.
"I think he's intelligent in his movement, I think he is capable of combining well and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well. So, for me he's a player who's at the top level in the world."
Wenger has insisted he will be active in the transfer window this summer but has already warned he will shy away from "£50m signings" and Arsenal would have to shatter their transfer record and pay around £20m for Benzema.

But that sort of calibre of signing would please the Arsenal fans who are desperate for Wenger to break with his philosophy and spend big. Lorient's French international Kevin Gameiro is also on Wenger's list of potential strikers.

It's hardly "shattering" our transfer record. It's a little less than £5m if we're paying 20M.

Re: Tapping up - Yes, I probably over-reacted and yes it's not technically tapping up but surely you can see why I'm not happy? He's being a ****. (Well Evra is a **** but still..)

I wonder if we'll try to loan Benzema like we did with Beast. We almost certainly can't pay all of his wages (/won't be willing to) but if Mourinho is interested in keeping him in the LT, it would be viable for both clubs...

Newcastle will not offer new contracts to Sol Campbell and Shefki Kuqi according to Sky Sources.

Apparently Gervinho has agreed to meet Alan Pardew this week over a potential move - Gervinho Agrees To Meet With Alan Pardew

Apparently Newcastle's ability to pay the whole sum up front stand them in good stead this summer, rather than the x amount and another few million over the next 3 years etc.

"Sky Sources"... It's backpage of the Evening Chronicle and wasn't exactly unexpected.
