Spoke to my guy reowning, he still wants to go, sees #Liverpool as a dream club, and Dalglish is a big fan.

Well, if you get him, expect to truly pay through the nose for him. Signed for 12 mil, we want to make a profit on him, and he's been our PoTS, so expect at least another 8 mil plonked on top of the 12. At LEAST.

I am. We sign a Championship player, someone deserted by his country long ago and ploughing a lonely furrow with Middlesbrough, his career going nowhere. He signs on crutches with a long-term injury, and we pay a sizeable fee for this player. He is awful the first year, and we would've been well within out rights to just berate ourselves for being stupid and selling him on, cutting our losses. But no, we kept him, he came back and played very well. We're happy with him, gave him support from the stands, and this is how he repays our faith?
Young was always going to go. But Downing? A real kick in the teeth, this one.

He'll not cost £20m if he does go. Currently he's weighing up his options, including seeing where Lerner is taking your team. The O'Neill spending days are over, the gamble failed, where will Villa settle in the table? As much about ambitions of Villa as anything else. There's a possibility of Liverpool and Spurs coming in, so he's leaving things be.
Don't buy the Dalglish story - mainly because it would have gone through his agent. A certain Mr.Gerrard has the same one.
Why not? He's got over 2 years left on his contract, we're very much in the driving seat in regards to the price. Saying the O'Neill spending days are over is a little ridiculous seeing that we spent about as much on two players with Ged as we did the entire season before under MON, and Houllier only had the winter transfer window to work in.
Lerner has the same ambitions for the club as he did when he took over - he loves the club, and wants to see us have Champions League football. If you'd say the Martin O'Neill gamble had failed, then you'd be right. What hasn't ended is the Lerner era, and we have both the spending power and the ambition to challenge at the top end of the table.
Downing can go, but he will cost you a **** sight more than what we paid for him. 15 mil from Young, 20 mil from Downing, 30 mil transfer kitty from Lerner. That kind of money is the basis for an excellent squad.

I think this a strange one for Pirlo. You've just won the Schduetto (SP), so why move? Was he 1st team this year? Meh, anyway, a good move by Juventus nonetheless. Pirlo and Marchisio sounds a promising CM partnership.

Contract was up and Milan decided to keep Seedorf on for a year and not Pirlo. Would have liked him to stay but good luck to him. Great player but slowly declining for a while now. Not sure who I want to replace him yet tbh...
Fulham have been given the Europa League place, so that may help them in the Transfer Market.

I'd sell Young to Man City,for over the odds cash,and Milner in return.Give Milner CM role, Albrighton is ready for more games on right.

Villa's last reported accounts gave losses running at £30m. That's about half your wage bill. Trim your wagebill to a 'healthy' 60% of revenue, and you've got to reduce your wage bill by a third. Lerner has spent to prevent a true meltdown caused by being relegated. Would be amazed if he suddenly reversed course on funding another tilt at CL football or there's a kitty of £30m there this summer.
Downing is on a very healthy salary. If someone is willing to cover that and provide some margin of profit on the original deal, my money would be on Villa biting the bidder's hand off.
Not meaning to be an argumentative sod, but that's Villa's financial position at the moment. At least with Lerner, you may have a chance over the longer term of growing your revenues and being in a position to slowly get into a position to challenge again. But it'll be over the long term without crazy revenue increases.

He was injured a lot of time. He was on high wages and Juventus offered him big wages which Milan didn't want to match. I think all of the oldies who stayed ( Nesta, Ambrosini, Seedorf... ) took pay-cuts. Now that Berlusconi's daughter is handling things with Galliani expect some major moves to cut down average age.
I'd replace him with Andrea Poli.
Ditto for us too. Don't rate him & never have. Hope Young follows the money ie: you guys.
