Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has poured water on claims he could be on his way to Chelsea, claiming he would rather stay in Spain.

The 23-year-old is set to leave the Vicente Calderon after five years, with Barcelona and Real Madrid leading the race to sign the Argentina international after he revealed he is not looking to leave La Liga.

"The English league is good, but I'd prefer to stay in Spain," Aguero told Argentinian broadcaster TyC sports.

According to Atletico general manager Miguel Angel Marin, Juventus are the only club to have made contact, and he is confident city rivals Real will not make an offer for their star striker.

"The only side which I have talked to are Juventus," Marin said. "I have been contacted by the Italian club, they have sent me a letter in which they have asked to negotiate for the player.

"Last Monday we received a fax from the Bianconeri. They showed their interest, but we will only let Aguero go for €45m - and not a euro less.

"[Real president Florentino Perez] has told me he has no intention of signing Aguero and I do not doubt him. Firstly due to the good relationship we have personally and secondly due to the clubs' relationship."

Haven't made a thread for it yet, but: Brad Friedel set for Tottenham switch | Aston Villa Central

Brad Friedel had a surprising number of options open to him as his Villa contract came to an end. Interest was reportedly shown by Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham, along with an offer of further 12 months at Villa Park.
However, it’s Spurs who have won the American’s signature and are due to announce this morning (Friday) that he will be moving to White Hart Lane from July 1st, presumably on a two year deal.

It’s sad to see Big Brad go, but makes it pretty clear that we should expect a new number one to arrive this summer. It’s unlikely, but not impossible, that Brad Guzan will be promoted to first choice. If that is indeed the case, his future also comes into question.
So, thanks for the three years, Brad, you’ve been a rock at the back and best of luck for the future. If you could do the odd Gomes impression, specifically when we’re playing Spurs, that would be much appreciated.

Spot the odd one out ;)

Left modric out as I was just including the front 4.

Hopefully we line up something like this:

Friedal
Walker Dawson Gallas/Kaboul/King BAE
Modric Hudd/Sandro
Lennon Rafa Bale
Leandro/Pav/Berbatov

Balls. Another 'keeper to have a stormer when we play them. Gomes literally only seems to do well when playing Arsenal!

Still, at least we can thrash Villa a couple more times now :)

Internacional reject 10.5m Tottenham bid for Leandro and are looking for more money.

Great to see that we are actually a)trying to sign a striker and b) went in for our transfer targets early.

Spurs' Damiao 'bid' rejected | Football News | Sky Sports

What is it with 'Arry and punching above his weight with every offer? Barcelona and co. are also interested in Damiao, but 'Arry, like he did with Aguero and Llorente (and Adam to an extent in Jan when he offered less than the amount Liverpool had rejected) thinks he can pinch him from under their noses...

Still - if you don't ask, you don't get I suppose.

I more meant Lennon tbh - 3 excellent players in Bale, VdV and Higuain/Damiao and then Aaron Lennon.

Obviously dont remember the last game Gomes played against you...

How is going into buy Leandro punching above our weight in any shape or form?

Leandro plays for OUR sister club and therefore we have an agreement that we have first refusal on any of their players. One of his best mates supposedly in Sandro plays for us and would be easier for him to settle in. Highly doubt Barca are actually in for him, looks like theyre buying Rossi.

Also, how are we supposed to know how much they want unless we put an offer in? We put in 12m Euros and they want 17m Hardly a massive difference.

Can see a City bid for Higuain with all the fuss about Tevez going or staying. Although I cant see why Madrid would want to let their best striker go for the 15 mil thats being talked about.

Mourinho: "I won't be hypocritical. Aguero is an absolutely fantastic player"

"Florentino, Jose Angel Sanchez and I all agree that we want to keep Benzema and Higuain. Benzema and Higuain
are non-transferable "

"We've seen important qualities in Mateos"

"We like him and will start the pre-season with us, and then we'll see what it's going to happen"

"Adebayor is a Manchester City player and we have an option on him but the market is open. Madrid have the privilege the player wants to stay"

"Casillas is the best in the world, Cristiano is the best player in the world, Marcelo is the best left back in the world"

Mourinho: "Sahin was the best player in the Bundesliga, not by journalists or by text messages, it has been by professional footballers"

True, the player with the 2nd most assists in the champions league is clearly ****. Goes without saying really.

Hey, Downing has 0 assists in the Champions League and he's better than Lennon. :D

Dammit CJ, you're meant to rise to the bait, not put forward a reasoned argument! :(

meh. Its early and i'm a bit hungover lol.

On Lennon, he can be rather frustrating at times though get the ball and instead of running at the full back and commiting him just runs inside and passes it.

Well Walcott has 9 goals and 7 assists from 28 PL apps (Just 19 starts) and Lennon has 3 goals and 2 assists from 34 PL apps (25 starts). It works both ways. Walcott has 2 CL goals, Lennon has none. Now who's better?
