Wunzigans second answers right

Allright!!!

Some World Cup winners did so by having one or more players not born in that country. One of them had at least 4 players in the starting line up that were not born in that country.
Name the World Champion, country host and year to get the point.

Nope

France 98, most were french if not all. Djourkaeff, Zidane, even Trezeguet were born in France.

Well, if Makelele and Vieira played that match too, you would have won.

There was one team, that had 4 players from one country, 1 player from another, and the remaining from the homeland

also Patrick Veira was born in Senegal, but he never started the world cup final,

so defo not all in 1998 squad was born in france;)

Last Hint, some of these players, played in the previos cup, while being runner-up playing for another country

Half true. In the question I state at least 4 players in the starting lineup

italy 1934 italy hosts

thay would've played for argentina in 30 who were runners up

Well done Trivaldo!!!

Imagine you play a WC Final and you loose, and then you play another one with another country in order to win. And their original country participated too...

great decision to defect - imagine if Argentina had beaten italy in the final lol

Just to point out, i'm neither a genius or a good googler - i remembered reading about di Stefano playing for multiple nations in the 50's, two of which were argentina and italy, so i just looked back through past wc winners on fm and had a stab that the players did the same as di dtefano

lol just googled di stefano and he never played for italy but his family was italian... played for spain argentina and colombia

Next question:
Apart from hungary, what other nation did Ferenc Puskas turn out for?

Yep, thats why the rule has changed now. In the thirties and 40s many south american of european ascendancy played for the country of their ancestors.

yeah its spain - your question :)

do you know when the rule changed to only representing one nationality - tried google but cant seem to find out :S puskas and di stefano were playing for spain in early/mid 60's

I dont know when, but it must have been in the 70s or 80s. I know that you can play the U20 for one nation, and then switch to your double nationality (if you have) for senior team

Football

In World Cups, specially during the group stages there are many factors to decide which team goes through in case of a tie. However, there is only one team ever in the history of the World to have been knocked out by "goal average". Name the team, year, and name the team who went through instead!!!
