SUMMARY

Another trophy is added to the haul. That makes it 20 trophies won so far!!!!! We didnt start the month to fluently and just scraped the results required but we finished the month off with better performances.

So into next month and the plans for next season begin to mould when the youth intake happens. At the moment I have no plans to sign anyone and no real plans to sell any players in the first team squad! lol

As an aside - Lee Armstrong got his first cap for England while Mariano Vergara got capped by Argentina.

SUMMARY

Not many games this month but the 5 we did play were huge. We progressed in Europe and in the FA Cup and maintain our lead at the top of the table.

Regarding the youth intake there was 1 decent player called Paul Grimes but it will be a year or two before he will make any sort of impact and to follow in the footsteps of Armstrong and Rugg.

The best player I have ever seen in Scotland - Brian Laudrup (and I hate Rangers lol)

DENMARK

FIFA World Cup Quals Group 2

Denmark 4 (Fischer 19, 67, 90, Okore 47)
Faroe Islands 1 (Djurhuus 15)

We got a bit of a shock here but recovered well and also had a goal chalked off. Still only 3rd in the group though........

APRIL

Chelsea 2 (Lewandowski 2, Praet 18)
Hartlepool United 1 (Vergara 52)

Disappointing but its not the end of the world. Junior returned to the side and missed a penalty which would have drawn us level.

--

UEFA Champions League QF 2nd Leg

Juventus 1 (Fierro 10)
Hartlepool United 2 (Khellaf 25, Chalobah 59)

(Hartlepool United win 2-1 on aggregate)

I am delighted with this win. After we drew at home I thought we were going out but we produced a magnificent performance to win this.

--

FA Cup SF

Hartlepool United 2 (Mahon 79, Pagni 86)
Wigan Athletic 1 (Dicko 90)

I risked it by playing my backups but having said that my 2nd XI could challenge for the title I feel so it wasnt really a risk lol

--

Hartlepool United 3 (James 84, Pagni 90, Junior 90+2)

Stoke City 1 (Rhodes 32)

Just looking at the times of the goals scored tells you only half the story as they went down to 10 men on 35min and then we had 2 players sent-off before we scored our 3 late goals!!

--

Queens Park Rangers 1 (Freeman 41)
Hartlepool United 3 (Junior 4, 6, Pagni 33)

A nice win. Luke James had a goal disallowed too!

--

UEFA Champions League SF 1st Leg

Hartlepool United 2 (Connors 43, Junior 52pen)
Chelsea 0

A fantastic win this which should see us through into the final. We hardly gave Chelsea a kick!

--

Hartlepool United 1 (Vergara 72)

Hull City Tigers 0

--

UEFA Champions League SF 2nd Leg

Chelsea 0
Hartlepool United 1 (Mahon 56)
(Hartlepool United win 3-0 on aggregate)

LOL - we were terrible here and barely troubled the Chelsea goal. Camacho saved an early penalty and continued to keep them out.

SUMMARY

The penultimate month of the season saw us make it to both the FA Cup and Champions League finals where we will play Man City and Man Utd. We are also 1 win away from securing the title so next month could be extremely successful.

MAY

West Ham United 0
Hartlepool United 1 (Rugg 90)

CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

We are, for the first time, in the running for having the least goals conceded so hopefully my backups will see us over the line in that respect. (We have conceded the same as Chelsea)

--
Hartlepool United 2 (Newsome 46, Silva 81)
Chelsea 1 (Lewandowski 66pen)

Fantastic - and we have now of course conceded 1 less than Chelsea.

--

FA Cup Final

Machester City 0
Hartlepool United 2 (Chalobah 70, Junior 83)

WE RETAIN THE FA CUP!!!!

We played City off the park here and Junior even missed a penalty. It helped once again that all my players were rested for the final. We have now won it 4 times out of the last 5.

--

Hartlepool United 2 (Malara 37, Mahon 63)
Southampton 1 (Reinholdsen 55)

--

Hartlepool United 1 (Samassi 84)

Liverpool 0

This rounds up the league campaign quite nicely. Even better - we conceded the least amount of goals.

--

UEFA Champions League Final

Manchester United 1 (Zuniga 54)
Hartlepool United 2 (Connors 90, Junior 111)
AET

UNBELIEVABLE JEFF!!!!!!!!!

We had Schwartz sent-off in the first half and battled away but it looked as though they had nicked it until Connors struck in the last minute. Then Pedrinho got sent-off and we were down to 9 men but Junior popped up with the winner amazingly!!

Thats 3 times in a row..........

SUMMARY

A great way to end the season as we won every game and collected 3 trophies. However the miraculous Champions League win overshadows the league and FA Cup achievements.

Once again we benefited from having the privelege of being able to rest our players for the cup finals and that proved to be key both in player performance and fitness compared to our rivals.

Would be nice to see you move internationally to England if the oppurtunity arises to see if you can develop the english team and get them to have the same success as Hartlepool?

In my experience England NEVER appoint a Scottish manager. Just like Germany only appoint a German. Could be wrong mind you as De Boer is the current England manager.

I am looking for a country to be for 5-6 years.

Would be longer but FM14 is out in a month!!!!

I am simply in awe at how many times you get players sent off and do not lose

END OF SEASON POST

7 competitions entered and 7 trophies won - BUT I AM NOT HAPPY!!!!!

Why? We should be scoring far more goals and I also feel that my central midfielders should contribute far more in terms of goals. Sure we won every competition but there is room for improvement as we could go a season unbeaten I feel.

Individually I have to praise Camacho in goal and Alderete at CB and they were key to us having the best defensive record in the league. Junior also impressed when he wasnt injured. On the other side Dimosthenous and Pedrinho never scored and Khellaf was nowhere near as good as last season.

PRE-SEASON

A very quiet summer was had here. I am pretty much at the stage where I was with Bilbao - I sign youngsters to slowly take over from the first team players and I sell a player or two every year to make some money.

So without further ado let me introduce you to my future (maybe)......

--

PLAYERS IN

My only signings were these 4. The keeper is my new backup one and the others are just hot prospects. Gursoy Bulut was my most expensive at ?4m and the others cost a total of ?2.75m.

View attachment 466464View attachment 466463View attachment 466462View attachment 466461

--

PLAYERS OUT

The major departure was Andrea Malara (95/19) who left to join Roma for ?16.5m (signed on a free) while I received an astronomical fee for Diego Antelo as Ajax also stumped up ?16.5m for the young Bolivian.

Darren Holden (300/7) left to join Wolves for ?2.8m and therefore leaves Luke James as my only player to be with me from the very beginning.

Marius Schoneberg left for ?800K while I received loan fees for Kean, Milani, Vujic, Compton, Southern and I also loaned out a few others.

Any idea what team you might be for FM14? Just curious. :)
