Got a major issue with young player valuations.
Let me give you a few examples. I was managing one team in the Championship who had 2 new promising players join the youth ranks, coach report shows players potentials of 4.5 stars. I got offered a job at a club in the Premiership so took it. My first task was to try and sign these two young players for the future.
One was valued at £120k and the other £90k - they are on £450 and £420 a week, haven't played a single game for the first team or Under 21's and only a handful of games for the U18s. I offered £2m each for each player, over the odds I thought for a unplayed, untested 16 year old, but because in a strange way, I have a soft spot for the club I used to manage, I thought I'd give them a little extra cash. Anyway, both bids were rejected. So I went back and did 'suggest terms' this time on bids of £4m each - the club came back and tried to re-negotiate the fee, one requested £70m!!!! and the other £40m!!!
Now, I'd understand if they asked up to £10m - but £70m for a kid who hasn't even played a U21 game, let alone get near the first team is ridiculous.
Armed with this, I thought I'd test it a bit further and downloaded FM Scout. Searched for Under 18s with 170-200 Potential Ability to identify some young players from other teams. Found a couple in England and a couple abroard:
Player 1 - Age 17 - Value £90k - Neogtiated transfer fee £17m
Player 2 - Age 17 - Value £300k - Negotiated transfer fee £75m! LOL
Player 3 - Age 15 - Value £65k - Negotiated transfer fee £15m
Player 4 - Age 16 - Value £100k - Negotiated transfer fee £7m
The club I am isn't of a major stature or rich. This is so unrealistic, it's ruining my attempts to sign young talent rather than pay over the odds for established players.
Not played since FM 13 and it wasn't like this then, so not sure what version this has started with.
A further test, I started a new game and used FM Scout to test again and tried again with a League 2 player who was 16, valued at £40k but again, the club demanded £14m.
Anyone else noticed this? As I said, the odd wonderkid, you'd expect to pay lots for but £20m-70m for unplayed 16 year olds is ridiculous!
