Walking in unknown territory - Unemployment.

Congratulations mate, fantastic end to the season. :D

I know now you've posted a screenie of your tactic, but what instructions have you set andy player instructions too? I'm struggling to get a tactic that I can use as a base and make my own tweaks, and wondered if you may share. Understand if you don't want too. Cheers

I can tell you when I'm home mate, at work at the minute. I don't use player instructions at the minute as players are not the best quality and don't expect too much of them.. Maybe this year or next i'll get more involved as defensively last year as a team we was absolutely woeful.

After a successful start to the beginning of the campaign in Sky Bet League Two, going into November Where I have led Bristol Rovers to 9th in the table and bringing in some very good players in the summer such as Lee Lucas and Shaun Pearson he also made an affiliate with the club Leeds United and has put the club in a strong financial position following losses of money in the previous season but after a big cup run and handling of finances, I have left the club in a strong financial position to embark on a new adventure which will further my career. I have done my best for the club and have got them back into the league which was my intentions when I took over the job, after being threatened with my job earlier before I got us promoted it was a glimpse of what the board may do should I not reach expectations immediately here. I will miss the fans and people associated with this fantastic club but I've been offered a fantastic opportunity for me to go to the next step in my career and challenge myself further. I hope that the next manager that comes in will get the same treatment that I have got from the fans and the backing. The club has also received a hefty fee in compensation for me leaving for my new club. It's a club which only two years ago I used to go watch after I stayed at a friends university accommodation on the way home, a sleeping giant in a division which they don't belong; a little like the situation when I took over at Bristol Rovers but a club with more potential to go further and even up into the big time which with the right guidance could quite easily reach.

My press conference will be announced later on today.
Can you guess who my new club is??

Update due tonight guys. Been really busy sorry for the long wait.

Some of you guys guessed correct!! We have taken over the mighty blades. A fantastic club with an amazing squad at their disposal. I have got abit too excited with this save and upon taking over in November I managed to win promotion with the club from Sky Bet League 1 and finished 1st. Losing one game in the league since my takeover and I have managed to build a creative force with this team since taking over, after finding them in 11th when I took over I managed to get rid of the deadwood and replace them with some real quality. Below is how our year went and we will start at the beginning of next pre-season to catch up.

Pre-Season

View attachment 326881

After my first day at the club I was gobsmacked, considering that I was watching them as a fan in a stand just a few weeks ago in life compared to where I am standing now is so unbelievable. The board backed me since I took over and the fans are excellent, having 24,000 behind you in a League One game was something like no other, we are back where we belong and the board have instructed me to try fight for survival this year but I have assured them we wont be anywhere near relegation as the core of players I had at my disposal last season can do a job in this league anyway, with a few additions we can hold our own in this league. It's amazing that in my 3rd season as a manager I'll be managing in the championship, it's a great fairytale for me and I don't want it to end but the hard work starts now and it isn't going to get any easier for me. I feel at home at a club who really want me and I am supported by the board and with this I rejected job offers last year from clubs such as: Brighton, Huddersfield and Bristol City.
During my run in to the season aswell.. I was approached by another club but I wouldn't need to leave my current position as I have actually been given chance to have a shot at International management!!! I have a great opportunity to explore the world on International duty while resuming my usual role at Sheffield United with:

USA

What a fantastic opportunity for my aswell, one country which are rising in the footballing community recently and the sport is ever-growing in the country and to develop this is going to be a extreme challenge but I grabbed it with both hands. I was asked if I could manage with the duties of my club but this would be too silly to turn down this opportunity as I can be managing and maybe playing against some of the best players in the world.. I have alot to study as most players will be playing in the MLS franchise and I'll be sending my coaches over regularly to report back to me how players are getting on.

View attachment 326879

What a fantastic year for me on a personal level, just over a year ago I was managing Bristol Rovers who was playing against part-time teams and we was playing in crowds of under 500 at times and the standard of football on show was shocking but I am thankful for them or I wouldn't be where I am today and I still regularly look out for their results. But now I've gone to a luxury lifestyle and I am started to become a more recognized manager, the biggest highlight was having Jose Mourinho commenting on me by saying to journalists that sending his player on loan to me last year was great as I am one of the best young coaches around and play a good style of football. Maybe in a few years I could be facing up with Jose. Just maybe. That's it for now, I'll be back in Pre-Season with our new squad and how we have made strides forward ready for our season in the Sky Bet Championship.

Transfers

Some great additions this summer.

Rohan Ince - Was chasing him in January of last year but wages was a stumbling block, kept on the case of him and we managed to get our man this summer, big strong midfielder who will be our breaking up play man in the hole.

Ryan Christie - Commanded the biggest transfer fee and only money we spent this summer but at only 21, this lad can turn a game on it's head and will be a future Scottish international. His development will be in good care.

Charlie Adam - Needed an experienced head in the midfield as Lucho Gonzalez left us as we couldn't agree reasonable terms and Charlie Adam has been around the block and has an absolute tank of a left foot.

Steven Taylor - A real leader, been at Newcastle all his career and a real professional I was surprised they let him go but I'll be looking towards Steven to command the defence this year.

Jonathan Pitroipa - Up there with abit of competition as one of our best signings, His burst of speed and quality will take the Championship by storm and will have defenders fearing for themselves.

Friendlies

Rochdale
1 - 1 Sheff Utd
Baxter (57')

Sheff Utd 3 - 1 Munster
Butler (9'), Baxter (23'), Pitroipa (25')

AFC Fylde 1 - 1 Sheff Utd
McNulty (73')

Sheff Utd 0 - 0 Hamburg

A good pre-season with alot of work which we have done in assembling a squad together and a strong tactic defensively. We will need to be performing as a team and not rely on individual excellence in this league. I am happy though and the lads have shown me just that we may have an extra twinkle of quality this season, it's also given me a good insight into the youth team this pre-season and there is one lad who stood out in particular who I'll be giving a chance very soon after impressing me.

This young lad WILL get a chance this year.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 6th August 2016

Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 3 - 1 Bristol City
Wallace (8'), Wilson (18'), Murphy (36')

MOTM: Bob Harris

What a fantastic win!!! On the opening day of the season and one to write home for my ex club Bristol Rovers this ones for them! Unfortunately though all three goalscorers was injured and suffered some severe injuries including James Wilson who suffered a broken leg which overshadowed the fantastic result which we had.

Capital One Cup 1st Round
Monday 8th August 2016

York Community Stadium

York City 1 - 0 Sheff Utd

MOTM: Marcus Williams

We put out a lesser team today and got punished. We move on and concentrate in the league.

Friday 12th August 2016

St Mary's Stadium

Southampton 1 - 1 Sheff Utd
Pitroipa (83')

MOTM: Jonathan Pitroipa

A fantastic away point for us against a very, very strong Southampton team who have an excellent team for this league and with their quality should romp the league but we wouldn't turn over for them, we rolled our sleeves up after we went behind and went home with a very well earned point. Not many teams will come to St Mary's and pick up points this season.

Sky Bet Championship
Tuesday 16th August 2016

Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 5 - 1 Bolton
Adam (19', 89'), McGahey (51') Flynn (58'), Leverington (87')

MOTM: Charlie Adam

Welcome back to the Championship Sheffield. We are tipped to go down as favorites this year but with performances like this we won't be anywhere near it, the best performance I've seen from this team to date. We couldn't be touched today everything we touched was gold and could have hit Bolton for even more than 5. A memorable day today for young Benjamin Leverington on his debut with a goal today and I promised him he would get his chance and he has taken it with both hands.

Molineux

Wolves 1 - 2 Sheff Utd
Pitroipa (22'), Leverington (89')

MOTM: Jonathan Pitriopa

What a very 'classic' game. Two teams which have had some fantastic battles over the years and this game went right down to the wire which we was given the winner by a spectacular volley in the last minute from the youngster Leverington again to win us the three points at Molineux, he is starting to look like some player and can even score goals at this early stage of his career.

Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 2 - 1 Crystal Palace
Pitroipa (66'), Christie (77')

MOTM: Bob Harris

Wow, an unbeaten month on our return to the Championship. Both wingers on the scoresheet today and shows where our main strength is this year, we play very wide as a team and stretch defences to find gaps and today both wingers registered a fantastic win over another strong team which we disposed of. What a fantastic atmosphere from the crowd who are our 12th man at just about every game.

The winger has three goals notched up already and is giving defenders nightmares thinking about him. A fantastic month.

What a fantastic result as my first game in charge of the US national team, the atmosphere was excellent and although I am of English residence the country have accepted me as one of their own and plenty of fans was qued outside for hours waiting for us to arrive and they wasn't disappointed in the game itself where we ripped Trinidad to pieces and I'm just gutted we didn't score more but the major thing is we've qualified from our group with a game to go and we will prepare for our next game against Costa Rica

Yet again, another clean sheet but this time against a much better opposition than the previous game, we played alot sharper this match aswell due to the quality of our opponents. The humidity in South America was unbearable to play in though but we came through it and managed to keep the ball for the majority of the game and save ourselves the running. We finish top of the group and ready for the next group.

All started at Sunday league/ lowest. I'm suprised how I got the Bristol Rovers job if I'm honest.

Can you show a screen of your manager profile please?
Maybe you had some luck, but they should have to be lucky with a manager as you!

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 10th September 2016

Olympic Stadium

West Ham 1 - 1 Sheff Utd
Griffiths (42')

MOTM: Eric Lichaj

Yet another great away point against a giant team in the division, West Ham nearly suffered back to back relegations and narrowly missed out last year which would have been a financial disaster for them. But as for the game, Leigh Griffiths registered his first goal for the club today and sent us home with a great point.

Sky Bet Championship

Griffin Park

Brentford 0 - 4 Sheff Utd
Baxter (50'), Griffiths (58'), Ince (66'), Adam (89')

MOTM: Charlie Adam

What a fantastic dominating win for us against our counterparts who got promoted with us. We clearly show we have finer quality and with a variety of goalscorers on the sheet today it shows we have goals everywhere, including a first goal of the season for Jose Baxter who was our top scorer last year and hopefully this kick starts his year to start scoring as I rejected many bids for him in the summer to make sure he stayed with us this year.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 17th September 2016
Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 4 - 3 MK Dons
Adam (29', 68', 80'), McNulty (90'), McGahey sent off

MOTM: Charlie Adam

What a fantastic comeback today and I credit the lads for bringing it back. After being 3-0 down and a man down we didn't cave in and crumble, we rolled up our sleeves and gave it fight, even coming in at half-time 3-1 down I reminded the lads they havn't lost in the league yet and they can do it. Charlie Adam was the difference, a hattrick for the Scotsman with three fantastic finishes from outside the box pretty much kept us in the game till McNulty latched onto a corner at the back post to win it for us.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 24th September 2016

Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City 2 - 1 Sheff Utd
Baxter (32')

MOTM: Bob Harris

We hold our heads up high although we have lost, we lose to one of the favorites for promotion and we played very well. It's our first loss in the league and we are performing above expectations in the league anyway. We still fought and it was the extra little bit of quality in areas which swayed the match in Cardiffs favor. We move on and try get going again against Ipswich.

Sky Bet Championship
Tuesday 27th September 2016
Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 1 - 3 Ipswich Town
Baxter (17')

MOTM: Romain Vincelot

Extremely disappointed at this result, Ipswich are struggling and languish at the bottom of the table and after we went ahead we put our feet up and expected the game won but we got punished and the league taught us we can get turnt over in a flash. I've warned the lads that I want this to be a temporary slip up as I'm not happy.

Saturday 1st October 2016

Craven Cottage

Fulham
1 - 0 Sheff Utd

MOTM: Eric Lichaj

Third match in a row lost in the league and we have lost abit of momentum. The league shows how if you take your eye off the ball things can change ever so easily. We played well today but we wasn't prolific enough. Fulham used their killer instinct and left us with nothing.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 15th October 2016

Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 2 - 0 Watford
Griffiths (24'), O.G. (84')

MOTM: Leigh Griffiths

Great to go back to winning ways and even more to keep a clean sheet, a very good team performance which everybody contributed to three points and we leave Bramhall Lane with the fans pleased and us totally delighted to get back on track in the league.

Sky Bet Championship
Tuesday 18th October 2016

American Express Community Stadium

Brighton 1 - 1 Sheff Utd
Adam (27')

MOTM: Eric Lichaj

I would take a away point every game of the season aslong as we can win our games at home. The Brighton team was well set-up defensively and was very hard to break down even at home. We had our chances but they was all from distance and we couldn't get through.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 22nd October 2016

Bramhall Lane

Sheff Utd 4 - 2 Bournemouth
Adam (22'), O.G. (24'), Murphy (63'), Baxter (90+3')

MOTM: Jose Baxter

Great result on paper but we shot ourselves in the foot after going 2-0 up and we took our foot off the gas. A difficult game, we started better than them but individual actions won the game for us and it could have been wrapped up by half time but two mistakes made us go in half time drawing. We was made to wait till the last half an hour to retake the lead before Jose notched the match for us in the last minute.

Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 29th October 2016

Ewood Park

Blackburn 0 - 4 Sheff Utd
Baxter (8', 13'), Griffiths (34', 79')

MOTM: Leigh Griffiths

Excellent again from an offensive and defensive point of view. I was more pleased how we played than the result itself, we lost our commanding centre half Steven Taylor early on but it proves we don't rely on individuals and the defence was tight all game. The referee also had an excellent game in a match which had some very tough but fair challenges, another day either team could have ended up with 10 men on the field.
