Cheers dude, hopefully I can give the league a good go and hopefully stay up. :)

May I ask what tactic you're gonna be using this season mate?

Whheeeey! Promotion!

You'll be winning the Prem next ;)
Never know. :P

May I ask what tactic you're gonna be using this season mate?
Not sure tbh mate, either I'll just go for it attacking wise and use my goal scoring tactic or I'll use my defensive one's and grind out results.

I'll probably decide by looking at which is stronger out of attack and defence. :)

Transfer updates soon.

Ok mate cheers :) good luck with the season ahead.

is Charlie Austin gonna be getting a chance this season, or will you be bringin in someone like sturridge again?

Thanks pal. :)

I'll deinitely give him a chance, no doubt about that.

I tried for Sturridge but they wouldn't sell and wanted £2m just for a loan fee so I backed out, as of yet, I've only brought in 2 strikers who are both quite young so it might take a while to get my best two upfront really. :)

Update in about 15 minutes.

Please tell me you didn't pay £9.5M for Roger Johnson? I know he's good but that's a massive chunk of your transfer budget gone :S

na i think thats solid. hes english which i always like and he's tough, and he's quite young. good signin imo

King happy with new squad for upcoming season

watfordbadge.png

24, is a magic number - The average age of the Watford squad is 24, will they stay up?

Max King has told his chairman he won't be spending anymore money this window as he is 'happy with his squad', although says money may be spent in January if needed. Watford's first team squad consists of just 18 players over the age of 21, and the average age of the team is 24, but King denies he is preparing for relegation this season with all the youngsters being brought in this season for the future.

Max King said:
Most managers like to bring in experienced players who have been there and done it when they get promoted, and in some respects we have done that. We've brought in Sol Campbell who is one of the most experienced centre backs in the Premier league, Sylvinho hadn't played much for Man City but he was a regular at Barcelona at one point and has bundles of experience. George Boateng is a born leader, he is a big game player and will be an important player for us in some games this season when we need motivation most, and of course Boa Morte may not be the athlete he was at Fulham all those years ago, but he's still got that quality in him for the Premier League so I'm happy with the squad.

Match updates after the Pompey vs Villa game on TV ^^)

Yeah I did, he's a good centre back and I know it was a lot but seeing as his average rating for Birmingham last season was 7.01 in 35 appearances it's a good deal in my opinion seeing as you won't get much better than that for under £10m. :)

What he said ^^)

Good signings pal. I truelly believe that you can stay up this season and you are already built for the future. You ought to look into getting Verratti though, he is young and would be great for a team like Watford.

Watford fortunate to beat West Brom

Big win - Cowie celebrates as he scores the only goal of the game to give Watford 3 points

In the opening game of the Premier league season, two need sides in the division met, with Watford facing West Brom at Vicarage Road. Watford had been promoted through the automatic places last season, and West Brom had been promoted through the playoffs after finishing 5th, but there seemed to be no big difference in the quality of both sides.

It only took Watford 3 minutes to take the lead after a bright start, with Don Cowie curling in a beautiful free kick to give them a perfect start to life in the Premier league. West Brom threatened many times through midfieler Graeme Dorrans from long range, but it stayed 1-0 to Watford at half time.

The second half was mainly West Brom all over Watford who were defending for their lives at some points in the game, and West Brom striker Malik Mouath was continually a threat to Watford's backline who were being caught for pace a lot of the time, which looked a big weakness throughout the game that boss Max King may look to strengthen before the end of the transfer window with a reported £9m still available.

Watford held on to make the perfect start to their Premier league lives with 3 points in the bag in a massive game.

Roberto Di Matteo said:
I have no complaints if I'm honest, we gave 100% and couldn't do much more than what we did, Watford defensively were very good and that should keep them in this division in my opinion, well played.

Max King said:
I'm really happy with the result, I think we were getting lucky with them missing chances at times, but in the end we've held strong defensively and when we went 1-0 up there wasn't any need to go for another goal as West Brom could rip us apart that way. Overall, good performance and a massive win against relegation rivals.

It's possible there may be some updates this week, I'm not sure. My laptop has had to go in for repair as when I charge it, smoke comes out (lol), so I can't use it and it's got to be repaired. At the moment I'm on my Mum's computer but I don't know if I'll bother installing FM on this as I don't know how long I'll be using it tbh.

Anyway, as I said, updates will not be as regular this week and will be in low amounts, sorry lads.

You could always do those updates that don't actually happen in game, like Mind-Games and transfer rumours etc, just to keep the thread alive while your laptop is away.
