Thanks alot. Love positive comments, really spurs you on.

Yeah, I've noticed we always seem to concede first. Once I've got a tad more transfer money next season, and a few younguns have developed, my Arsenal side will start to shine through.

I'm sure. It's quite surprising as although you brought in a couple of new players, they seemed to have really gelled quickly, with a great start, and i suppose complacency just kicked in. If you check the dugout, or even Google, for FM reminders, one of them is to check player morale, so that you can drop players who aren't playing well. I'm sure once you start getting results again though that they'll grow in confidence, and play better and better. 8-|. Good luck mate, also btw RE: Updates, i liked how you did it first, with the online article kind of thing, but i'm following either way, not just cos its arsenal, but it's really interesting. How is Koscielny doing btw? He's playing really well for me atm.

Yeah, the backroom staff seem to think we get complacent as well. But we seem to be playing really, really well in Europe. It's quality, lovely passing football. If only I could somehow bring that into the Prem...

Yeh, the players are all at around Very Good or Superb in all honesty. The big wins I am getting just seem to drag them back up despite the losses.

And I'll probably go back to original version of updates; but that's tricky to do with 6 or 7 games. And thanks for following mate, just make sure you comment so I know; I love to know people are interested.

Koscielny's been solid nothing more, nothing less. Haven't seen many special performances from him yet, as I have from Vermaelen, but he is definately Premiership quality. He seems to be asleep for the first half for me though, just leaves so many gaps. Seems alot better in the second half though.

You mean TV has been special? Or just like Koscielny? They're both very mobile CBs, willing to get forward and good passers when they do, it can be difficult with Arsenal, especially when trying to recreate their tactics as i am, because they play so high, and play offside, with attacking FBs too, lots of gaps to be exploited.

Yup, i've been following from the first update so i'll be more than happy to see how this progresses and comment when i check it. I know that it helps when people actually comment not just read through. Good luck for the future mate

Vermaelen has been awesome. Djourou has actually played really well when in the team, as well, so he's pushing Koscielny out of the side.

Awesome, cheers.

Maybe you should teach Koscielny a lesson then. Put in Djourou for a game or two, maybe the smaller ones, let him form a defensive partnership with Vermaelen. I don't want to interfere too much, so just tell me if i am, and i'll stop... but was wondering what training schedules you were using. I only ask because, as you may have seen there's an Arsenal Simulation Compendium, made by Mantralux over at TD, now on fm-base, which includes training schedules for players and seems to do the trick, if you're interested in giving it a go, PM me, and i'll send you the link.

OK! Interference over! I'll step back now and let you do your story :P

I'm using those exact training sessions, actually. :)

And yeah, being doing that, Djourou's been getting a few games.

I appreciate you being interested mate, good to know people are.

November, November, we love you, November.

George Graham's men took a big step towards a few major trophies this month as there were quite a few key victories. An unbeaten month with five matches, four wins and a draw, has pleased Graham.

Sparta Prague 1 - 5 Arsenal

Another brilliant win in Europe. And it was Arsenal's front three who dominated the match tonight with Theo Walcott, Samir Nasri and Andrey Arshavin all having tremendous games. Certainly a good sign.

Arsenal 3 - 0 Blackburn

Even Alex Song's red for persistent fouling couldn't halt Arsenal's fluent, flowing, football. It was lovely, and despite having only 10 men for the majority of the second half, the team went on to score yet another, with a one man disadvantage.

arsenal30blackburn.png

Wolves 1 - 1 Arsenal

Not the best day for Graham, but with some of his best players out injured, he won't be too fussed. It took a beast of a free kick in the 87th minute to break the Arsenal defense. A solid performance from Tomas Vermaelen.

Valencia 1 - 2 Arsenal

Another win in Europe for Arsenal, despite playing a second team due to already have qualified. A solid performance from everyone involved in the match, and good news for Arsenal as Fabregas played his first game for weeks.

valencia12arsenalcl.png

Arsenal 2 - 0 Bolton

Cesc Fabregas back into the Arsenal starting lineup and working his magic again as he finished with two assists for the Gunners. Some magical play from the young Spaniard at the Emirates today.

Very nice mate. :)

Really enjoyed reading this. ^^)

Great Results mate, good to see your team getting back on track! Can you post a screenie of Fabregas please? (i.e. season stats, amd maybe individual instructions?)

I'm back. I'll get the December update up early evening.

DECEMBER UPDATE

Because I’ve been in the car for many hours, and had plenty of time on this; I’ve decided to write the usual update, except I’ve got a few extras that you can have a look at if you want to. If not, that’s fine, you don’t have to.

Graham’s Gunners March On

A big, long, hard month for George Graham’s men. Eight fixtures in thirty days for the lads, and for those of you who aren’t the sharpest, that’s one every just under four days on average. That’s physically demanding.

Aston Villa 1 – 3 Arsenal

That’s a decent victory against a solid Villa side. Joe Cole and Robin van Persie came out with goals for the Gunners in a solid performance, along with a Curtis Davies own goal. This victory propels the Gunners up to 3rd in the table.

astonvilla13arsenal.png

Arsenal 3 – 0 Dinamo Kiev

Another confident performance from a side on form. With RVP injured in this one, the Gunners looked like they could be struggling. Enter Theo Walcott. Walcott came on at half time, and bagged himself two goals, along with fellow wonderkid Samir Nasri getting one.

arsenal30dinamokiev.png

Arsenal 2 – 3 Chelsea

An unlucky day for the Arsenal; with an injury to Abu Diaby, recovering from 1-0 down to make it 2-1 to the Gunners, and then surrendering the lead to go on to lose 3-2. Graham will be happy to see his side play well, but they seemed to switch off in the second half.

arsenal23chelsea.png

Sunderland 0 – 1 Arsenal

Maroune Chamakh, the Moroccan International, returned to the side today and scored after a lovely ball from young Jack Wilshere. In what turned out to be a bore fest, Graham will certainly take the three points.

sunderland01arsenal.png

Arsenal 3 – 2 Tottenham

This is more than just a victory. This is a victory against your rivals, the team in 1st in the Premier League, and George Graham’s former club. A topsy turvy game as both sides led at one point, but van Persie was back to guide the Gunners to victory; he got two and Theo got one.

PicImg_Premier_League_10_38cd.JPG

Manchester United 1 – 2 Arsenal

Who’d have thought it, George Graham’s men have really proven their title credentials with this win. Andrey Arshavin’s strike in the 92nd minute sent the Arsenal fans into wild celebrations but it wasn’t all joyful as RVP took another knock, this one more serious. Nasri bagged himself one, as well.

manutd12arsenal.png

Liverpool 1 – 1 Arsenal

The lads’ll be disappointed that they couldn’t take the three points against 10-man Liverpool after Juliano Belletti was given his marching orders. Bendtner then gave Arsenal the lead with a slotted effort before Fernando Torres equalized for the Reds.

liverpool11arsenal.png

Arsenal 2 – 0 Blackpool

The end of a long, long month; a win was always expected and the boys delivered, albeit a second team. Kieran Gibbs bagged himself a goal after a speculative effort from 25-yards and Laurent Koscielny grabbed his first goal for the Gunners with a powerful header.

The Manager’s Thoughts

georgegraham.png

“Overall, a good month. Halfway through the season and we’re still in the title race, we’re still in the FA Cup and we’re still in the Champions League. Obviously this was all to be expected for a great club like Arsenal, but the players have delivered well.

The inconsistency is still a problem, though, and that’s something I’d like to sort out before too long. We’ve developed the depth in the squad and even with the worst injury crisis, we still have a solid team.

The January Transfer Window approaches and I’ve already sorted out some deals that’ll be completed on the 1st, so we’ll be seeing a bit of activity there, I imagine. There’s definitely a few areas I’d like to change and improve upon. Cheers, good afternoon.”

Player of the Month

Bilder%5CArsenal%5Carsenal3.jpg

BACARY SAGNA
Appearances – 6
Goals – 0
Average Rating – 7.6

Confident performances from Sagna throughout the month see him gain this award. He’s been quiet yet effective, simple yet brilliant. Opposition left midfielders haven’t had any chance against the rampaging full-back and he’s done his bit in both attack and defence.

He’s been rested twice this month due to the huge physical challenge of playing every five days or so. Emmanuel Eboue, an international right-back himself, simply can’t get into the team over Bacary.

Great Story mate, your layout is brilliant, and your text is to the point and not too wordy, yet delivers a good story. Keep it up!

Glad to see your team is starting to find some form now. Laurent Koscielny scored for the first time! Bad luck against Chelsea and Liverpool (mixed feelings much? ;)) F*ing Torres.. he just turned the game around at Anfield in my save! Getting in behind my high line, he's unstoppable. (Though his winner against me was offside!) You can't have lost very many games though, which is always good, and at Third, you're still very much in it, beat Tottenham again, and Liverpool at home, and you'll be right up there. Great to see good wins against Utd and Tottenham... But you're leaking goals!
Have you given Koscielny a second chance?? I'm not sure about Djourou in general (RL or FM). I've never trusted him enough to give him a run, always play Campbell if there are injuries etc. Nordtviet will be in with a shout when he returns from loan too. Not surprising to see Bacary Sagna get the "Player of the month" prize. I always find he and Clichy are the most consistent players in my side. Surprised Arshavin didn't get one at Anfield, he seems to love the place! (5 in 2?).
Would it be possible to see some screenshots of Fabregas? You seem to have solved the puzzle...
RE: Latest Update (December):
I like it, i prefer the news articles personally but maybe do some mix and match? Also, might be nice to see some more graphics/templates:

KIU, great read! OH, and loving the sig!

Koscielny has been fairly regular in the side, but the difficulty is, Djourou has actually been quality. He's averaging 7.33 ratingwise, and he's sooo good in the air.

What do you think of the Additional Information? Good idea?

I'll get you some screenies of Cesc when I'm next on FM.

Yeah, you said before about Djourou, was wondering whether he impressed you enough to tie down the CB spot next to Vermaelen or not. Djourou is very good in the air admittedly, but.. so is Senderos! You really want Chamakh attacking/standing on the far post at corners, then someone to flick it on at the near post, and someone challenging the keeper, maybe even someone on the edge of the area, so if you lose the ball in the air, they can't break as fast :$.

Yeah, i think the Additional Info is a very good idea, nice touch with the thoughts and stuff. Also gives people more to comment on than just results!

Thanks mate, look forward to next update, "The Wire" beckons ;)

How's Chamkah or whatever doing :)? He really intrigues me in FM, don't know why. Brilliant player he is.

Chamakh has been alright, when he's played.

But the formation I play only has 1 striker and there's no way he is getting in over RVP.

This is the most interesting read. good luck with the rest of the season. let's hope you don't collapse in April like the real team did hey? :'(

Could you also send a screenshot of the league table in your updates? it'll be easier to follow then :p

Second that. A league table screen shot now and then would help us see how you're doing in comparison to other teams! Enjoying it though, keep up the good work.

wonder when the next update will be

looking forward to reading it

I'm thinking about closing this story; I don't find it enjoyable doing the updates. :/

Check out my new story in my signature, though.
