What approach suits my team / I need a Tactic

thanks for your replies to my last post a couple of days ago, i've taken into account what has been advised, however it was too late and i got sacked.

i'm now with newcastle united as they were the first club to become available.
i play a more defensive system than i did with man utd of course and i'm generally doing well, except against the dreaded 4-3-1-2 formation, again.

most of the other managers on my network game used this formation (or 4-3-2-1) when i was playing with united, eventually getting me sacked for poor results against them. i've even tried playing as defensively as i can to try and stop this formation from ripping me apart (4 at the back with 3 DM's, and i lost 5-0 vs spurs).

i tend to manage quite well against other formations with my 4-5-1, getting good possession and a decent amount of chances considering the quality of my team.

these are my usual players in a 4-5-1:
GK: Krul
RB: R Taylor (fullback/support)
CB: S Taylor
CB: Coloccini
LB: Enrique (wingback/support)
M: Barton (support)
DM: Smith (ball winning/defend)
M: Nolan (support)
AMR: Routledge (winger/support)
AML: Jonas Gutierrez (winger/attack)
ST: Carroll (target man/attack)

i use this formation with a medium/deep line and quite narrow with a medium/slow tempo and play direct onto andy carroll's head.
it has helped me get good results vs chelsea (1-1) and man city (1-0).

arsenal, spurs, liverpool, aston villa and west ham then come along playing the 4-3-1-2 formation and just destroy me every time, similar to when i was managing man utd. it seems that nothing i have tried can defend this formation and i really struggle against it. this is my third season in football manager and i'm always the one at the end of humiliation because most of my mates all play the same way with the same setup.

i don't expect to work wonders with newcastle, but just being able to limit the amount of dominance the other teams get when they play 4-3-1-2 against me would be a great start.

Thanks again.

Team: Leeds
Season: First one, in December
Squad: Attached

Thanks in advance :)

Could you add this tactic as an attachment please, so i can download? Thanks :)!!!!!

can any1 tell me the best formation and starting 11 when begining a game with man utd and who i need to sell and buy thanks

4-2-4

hey, i always use a 4-2-4 formation with 2x MC and AMR & AML
set philosophy to fluid and starting strategy to attacking/control .. this tactic always gets me plenty of goals without conceding too many either :)

What do you think?

Man utd as well in the first year
i tried a flat 4-4-2 and some games i can shut down opponents (held both liverpool and chelsea to 3 SOT combined) but then i struggle versus teams like blackburn only a few days later.
Also my strikers drift too far wide and then take shots from bad angles, especially berbatov whos now 9 hours without a goal

GK E Van de sar
RB Fullback Support Rafael
CB cover Ferd
CB stopper Vidic
LB Fullback Support Evra
RM Winger attack valencia (also struggle alot)
CM Ballwinner support carrick/flecther/park
CM Advanced playmaker attack scholes/carrick/anderson
LM winger attack Nani
ST complete forward support Berbatov/rooney
ST advanced forward attack rooney/hernandez

any help appreciated

Any help/ideas welcome.

Im in my 1st season with ac milan and i need a good tactic,i have not done any transfers so the players are known to all please help me

Hi. This is kinda my first post here in the forum, I basically checked out discussions before, without even registering. I've been playing FM since the 2010 version, so I'm kind of a newbie. Always did tweaking in my tactics, but in FM11 my "shoot-for-the-skies" tweaking isn't working. I mean, I've got some awesome players, but no one seems to do well and it's ******* me off. Really hope someone can help me out, so here it goes:

Team - Juventus
Season - 2010-2011, in november.
Screenshots are attached because imageshack was being a pain, sorry.

Also, my current tactics are attached if anyone wants to check it or maybe even fix it for me.
Thanks in advance mates!
(sorry for any writing mistakes, I'm brazilian)
1. play all over because you have 3 players in cm/dm
2. if you want to play down the flanks then you have to play with width
3.you cant close people down fast then be cautious... iether close down fast and go in hard or stand off and be cautious
4. if you give you players creative freedom with a high tempo then you have to pass short. which will also help with "more roaming
5. you are allsoo trying to attack too much try "attacking rather than overload"

^^^^^^^^^^^ should help

My usual tactic (4 3 1 2) started to fail on my last games.. need a good suggestion as tactic/inscturctions
