What approach suits my team / I need a Tactic

After getting a world class team and winning everything, I was up for a new league and challenge. As my last team had players from all over the world, except from my own country I wanted to have a mostly national team.

I've chosen for AS Roma, I want to have 2/3 foreign players max in my base 11. I've sold Vucinic, Menez and Julio Baptista. I bought Rossi, Poli and Veratti, does anyone know other good and affordable Italian players?

My problem is, my team doesnt play well. I don't have enough possession and I dont get a lot of shots at goal. Currently I am playing a 4-3-1-2. I'm usin Boriello as advanced forward attack en rossi as deep lying forward attack. I'm using Totti as amc support. I have an defensive central midfielder, a box to box midfielder and an advanced playmaker on the midfield. my defense seems fine as I dont concede much goals. Is there another formation that you would recommend? And do you have any tips for my midfield/forward?

Thanks

Which Tactic Would Work Best For Me

Hey Guys i'm relatively new to this site and am just wondering which tactic would suit my team the best.

Here is my team...
View attachment 130638

I want to be able to utilise the talents of both Paulo Henrique and Javier Pastore. This tactic is working but I am only getting a return from my strikers and am leaking FAR too many goals. like at least two every other game. I have Chamberlain, Labyad and Thorgan Hazard (all u18's) learning from Scholes, Giggs and Hargreaves (Reserves). I have tried a few tactics but don't really know which one would best suit my team please help.

Thanx

It's January 2011 and I'm Indendiente in between stages. I signed Matias Defederico and Javier Pastore and got rid of Leandro Gracian. Should I play them both as AMC's with one striker up top, or should I do a 4-4-2 diamond with Pastore as the AMC and Defederico as the deep-lying forward?

Halbard, I noticed you had the 4-4-2 diamond in your photo, have you had luck with it? All of the 4-4-2 diamond tactics here have two CM's not wide midfielders. What are your player roles? Team instructions? Do you set the AMC as the playmaker?

Hey people,

I've got this team:
34reh5w.jpg

My tactic is doing okay, but I get the feeling that I could get a lot more out of my squad.
Especially out of Neymar and Paul Henrique.

I'm playing my guys like this:
nqweuo.jpg

Duties/Roles:
GK - GK, Defend
DCR & DCL - Central Defender, Defend
DL & DR - Fullback, Automatic
My MCL en MC are swapping positions and I've got the MCL as this:
2n64zsk.jpg

And my MC like this:
wkk37t.jpg

MCR - Ballwining Midfielder, Defend
AMC - Trequerista, Attack (Free role, passing short, run with the ball never)
STL - Poacher, Attack
STR - Targetman, Attack/Deep lying forward, Support (depending on Lukaku/Kadlec)

I've got all my people on rarely making long shots.

I get LOADS of possesion and chances, but hardly enough goals and I concede too easily (not much but too much, as my opponents hardly get shots and I have amazing posession).

Help would be very welcome, thanks :)

Hey Fonkel,...it seems like leonardo formation with inter, a rotating diamond(not looks like diamond actuallyoO))...i currently working with that formation too,..
okay here's my suggestion,..please understandable:D...i think the problem you concede a lot is because your defensive line is push up and if you dont like playing offside trap, you may try to switch one of your central defender to cover, he will drop deeper so the offside wont activated and also change your goalie into sweeper keeper duties...hope it helps....

Yeah, I came up with that too and I forgot to say, but I have one of my defenders with the slider further to defensive because of my high line, but I'll try cover.
Also, I don't think my keeper is very much fit for sweeper keeping.
Thanks for the help though :)

hi,,
this is my first post here..

right now i'm currently managing Palermo in the first season
i only bought Vaclav Kadlec (FC)

i'm using a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond,,
i'm using this formation after i read the post here..
but i'm still confuse with the role of the player

pardon me but i don't know how to print screen while in game,,so i just write it down what the formation looks like and it's role that i'm using

===================Sirigu
=================(GK, Defend)

====Cassani==== Munoz==== Bovo===== Balzaretti
(FB, Automatic) (CB, Stopper) (CB,Cover) (FB,Defend)

=================Migliaccio
================(DM, Defend)
==========Nocerino========= Kasami
========(CM, Support)===== (CM, Attack)
===================Pastore
=================(AM, Support)

============Kadlec=========Hernandez
=========(Poacher, Attack) (Target Man, Attack)

i'm using this formation, and i win 3 of 4 match, the other one was draw..
but it's against a 'weak' team,i don't know if it works against strong team such juve, milan, inter etc

so i would like to hear your advice bout my tactic,

oh yeah,,and i'm in need of WBR, but i only have limited funds..
so can you tell me a good WBR with cheap price??

thanks in advance:)

I am just into my first season as Liverpool (with my edited database) and although I do have a tactic I prefer to use whatever liverpool use in real life as such. The tactic I am using does indeed work but I need a second so I can switch it around. I would still like to have two strikers up front.

Hi all,I'm playing Plymouth team. I am currently in the 2013/2014 season. I have been using Mr Hough's tactic and it's great. I posting this because I want to know what other kind of tactic suit my team.
Below is a screenshot of my players.
Thanks for any kind of suggestions!

Hi guys, great thread you're running, very useful too. I thought that I might find some help here. I'm struggling with a 3-4-1-2 formation for maybe months now. It seems as this is (personally) the most difficult tactic to get to work. I want to develop it for my Juventus team because this year, and years before, we are not having the greatest fullbacks, you might say the suck and you'll be correct. On the other hand we have very decent players for an 3-4-1-2 setup. Aquilani in the hole, Marchisio and Melo in the midfield, Krasic and Pepe/Lanzafame/New face on the wings, Bonucci Chiellini & maybe another new face in the defence (probably Diego Lugano as he is cheap and classy). I'll provide a screenshot a bit later on. I can't say I'm not scoring goals, I can't say even that I'm conceding a lot. If the match goes on well I might win with 4 or 5 goals but still, no matter who I play with, I'm getting destroyed literally with long shots, they just can't stop shooting and if you shoot average 10 long shots per game 1 or even 2 will get in that's for sure. This is my main problem. The long shots blizzard just seems devastating and this combined with the low ball possession I'm having (generally under 50% in games that look like losing within the first 10 minutes of the game it's even worse - under 40%). Those seem to be my weak spots in my setup. I tried playing with defensive line on the last notch of 'Push Up' and they still have like 7 long shots. Tried playing really slow and short passing game, still my possession gets no more than 50% even with weak teams. Here is my team and setup with Team instructions & list of roles and duties for each player. I'd be very very thankful if someone gives me and advice how to turn this total tactical failure into something decent.

  • GK : Keeper - Defend
  • DCL : Central Defender - Defend
  • DC : Limited Defender - Cover
  • DCR : Central Defender - Defend
  • ML : Winger - Attack
  • MCL : Ball Winning Midfielder - Defend
  • MCR : Central Midfielder - Support
  • MR : Winger - Attack
  • AMC : Attacking Midfielder - Attack
  • STCL : Poacher - Attack
  • STCR : Target Man - Attack

Hi this is my Oxford United Team. Its Feb 2012 ive been here 3 months had a semi decent start but tend to lose one in 4 games meaning we nevere seem to cvlimb up the table though ive taken them from 18th to 14th and 9pts away from playoffs which i think with the squad ios achievable. Just wondering what anyone would do with them?? Have a big squad with some good players.

Hi guys I have javier Pastore and maybe Hamsik on his way what would be the best tactic for my team to get the best out of both.

Hi lads i need a bit of help with my villa save i'm fairly sure its the tactic but i'm getting silly results like beating fulham 7-0 then 1-1 at leeds and beating a.c. milan 3-1 then 1-1 at wolves and then beating liverpool 5-2.

I don't know what is going but im guessing its because my defence is too slow to get back to defend so im shipping a few goals there

anyways check the screenshots and any advice would be greatly appreciated

cheers

p.s.
- amr and aml are inside forwards
- st's are both complete
- dm is dm support
- amc is advanced playmaker

mate you might wanna try a formation something like the screenie (if you want all your players playing in their natural positions) but im probably not the greatest source on these forums. but you will need defenders that are fairly high in agility and work rate.

i would personally play the dm as a deep lying playmaker with support cause that gives you a few more balls from deep to kill off a team.

id be more inclined to play the two st's as deep-lying and advanced forward with both kadlec and hernandez switching between the two until you find who works better in what position

for wbr i would get either rafinha (schalke) or diego renan (cruzeiro

hope this helps in some way

The one I have now mate. I would like a second one that I can also use. I would like something like Liverpool are using at the moment but whatever works i guess.

not that familiar with Mr Hough's Tactic but if its a 4-1-2-1-2 then thats your best bet looking at your squad

ah okies if im not mistaken i think liverpool are playing a fluid sort of 4-2-3-1

gk-reina
defence - johnson, skirtel, carra, kelly
then lucas and meireles with meireles slightly more attacking of the two
then your man gerrard at amc, two wingers and was torres but now suarez or carroll upfront on their own.

but i can forsee them bringing a second striker in kuyt upfront not sure were he is going to come from though

not sure if this helps you at all mate :S

like the screenie

sounds like a good setup for your team tbf
not quite sure wether you mean the opposition are scoring alot of long shots if this is the case you may want to change chiellini to the centre of the cb's and make him a stopper so he and aquillani can mop up balls outside the area

if you mean your team are shooting alot then the best idea is too look at the players who are shooting alot from long range and change this setting on their player isntructions or have a private chat and ask them to either stop shooting from long range or ask them to look for the pass rather than shoot
